Where does the Bucs DL group rank in the NFC North in 2025?
We are continuing a Summer series here on Bucs Wire, ranking the position groups across the division.
The major pit stops of the offseason have come and gone, which means rosters are set for the most part. Now, could someone pull off a major trade or sign a veteran free agent down the line? Of course, and they likely will based on our luck to throw things off. Regardless, we wanted to do this exercise just to give you, the reader, a state of the division.
At the end of each article, we will also provide a recap of the scorecards so that we can keep a running tally for you to keep track of and see who has the best roster in the division.
Next up are the defensive lines in the NFC South.
Note: Each group will have varying numbers of players as each team doesn't run the same defense.
4) Atlanta Falcons
Starting Group: Morgan Fox, Ruke Orhorhro, and David Onyemata
The Falcons' defense has been neglected in recent years during the pivotal times of the NFL Draft. In 2024, they were expected to pursue an edge rusher and opted for a quarterback instead. This year, they sured up their linebacker group, but this group remains starving for attention. Ruke Orhorhro is a promising run defender, so if he can get some help from the players on the outside, they may finally have some efficiency from the group.
3) Carolina Panthers
Starting Group: Derrick Brown, Bobby Brown III, and Tershawn Wharton
Derrick Brown was coming off a Pro Bowl season in 2023, so expectations were high in 2024. Unfortunately, injury stopped that halfway through one game of the season, but now he is ready for a rebound. They add another player, Bobby Brown III from the Rams, to be a tag team partner for him to help take some pressure off him.
2) New Orleans Saints
Starting Group: Chase Young, Davon Godchaux, Bryan Breese, and Carl Granderson
The Saints team as a whole is a bit of a disaster in terms of roster building, but the defense has some bright spots, and this group is one of them. Chase Young proved to be a nice find in free agency and is returning to the team with more expectations for 2025. The team added another piece, this time from the Patriots in Davon Godchaux, who comes down to the Bayou with the thought that he can help the interior.
Starting Group: Logan Hall, Vita Vea, and Calijah Kancey
The Bucs have the best defensive line group in the division, far and away, when we look at things. Vita Vea is a perennial All-Pro selection each year he plays all 17 games, Calijah Kancey is on the fringe of becoming a 10-sack-a-season defender, and Logan Hall is starting to come into his own. This group is going to be leading the Renaissance charge for the Bucs defense in 2025.

Jason played from 2007 to 2010 before being drafted in the sixth round of the 2011 NFL Draft. Travis redshirted in 2008 but went on to appear in 35 games from 2009 to 2012. Their careers have been nothing short of legendary, on the field, in the locker room and now, on an exclusive list honoring greatness across a quarter century of NFL history. NFL top 100 rankings: Arizona Cardinals TE Trey McBride comes in at No. 42
Pete Prisco ranked the top 100 players of 2025 in the NFL. Only Trey McBride makes the list for the Cardinals. Every offseason, we see player rankings — top 100, top 101, top 50, whatever. Every year, we see where Arizona Cardinals players land. CBS Sports' Pete Prisco gave his top 100 list entering the 2025 season. Only one Cardinals player made the list — not Budda Baker, not James Conner. The only Cardinal to make the top 100 was tight end Trey McBride, coming in at No. 42, moving up from No. 83 a year ago. McBride finished fourth in the league with 111 catches in his breakout season. He had just two touchdown catches, which is a number that will go up this season ... count on it. McBride 100% should be on this list. He has entered the conversation as being the best tight end in the NFL. It is true that his two touchdown catches were simply fluky. He did rush for a touchdown and score once on a fumble recovery in the end zone. He was a frequent target in the red zone, but because of a couple of drops and a couple of missed throws by quarterback Kyler Murray, he didn't end up with six to eight touchdown grabs. Of course, while McBride is an easy choice for this list, two Cardinals players are notably snubbed — Baker and Conner. Baker continues to play at an elite level at safety and gets Pro Bowl nods year after year, a sign that coaches and players respect and value him. Conner's absence is disappointing because he produces among the best running backs, reaching nearly 1,100 yards last season and continuing to be a big-play runner as he advances in his career. Looking ahead to next offseason, hopefully McBride isn't alone. It would be good to see McBride, Baker, Conner, quarterback Kyler Murray and receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. in Prisco's rankings in 2026. Unless you've been living under a rock, you've heard the news that 10-time Pro Bowler and four-time NFL MVP, Aaron Rodgers, will suit up for the Pittsburgh Steelers next season. Advertisement It was a long and arduous process, but Rodgers finally agreed to a one-year, $13.65 million contract with $10 million guaranteed. One Steelers legend, four-time Pro Bowler and Super Bowl champion linebacker Joey Porter Sr., couldn't be happier that Rodgers is in town. 'Man, me being honest, I was excited,' Porter said. 'I got to play against Aaron Rodgers and watch Aaron Rodgers do his thing. I feel like he got a lot of juice left in the arm. … He's not a guy that is going to go out there and trick it off. He ain't going to put us in bad situations. We ain't asking him to save us — we ask him not to lose the four games that we lose every year that we're not supposed to lose.' Porter Sr. played against the Rodgers who was winning league MVPs and throwing for 40 touchdowns each season. That's not the player who took the field last year for the New York Jets. Rodgers, who turns 42 in December, led the Jets to a 5-12 mark in his only full season in New York. Don't forget (Jets fans won't) that he missed all but four plays of the 2023 campaign after rupturing his Achilles on the first drive of the first game after joining the team two offseasons ago. Last season should be one to forget for Rodgers. He finished below the league average in passer rating - a stat of which he's the all-time career leader, and 31st in the league in QBR - behind names like Aidan O'Connell and Kirk Cousins. Advertisement His five wins last season are his lowest win total since 2017, when he played just seven games for Green Bay and posted a 4-3 mark. Rodgers' previous low win total was six, which he posted three times since taking over as the Packers' starting quarterback in 2008. Which Rodgers will Pittsburgh get in 2025?
