Cam Carter carries LSU past Oklahoma
February 16 - Top scorer Cam Carter scored nine straight points for LSU in a span of 1:26 as the Tigers snapped a season-worst seven-game losing streak, shocking host Oklahoma 82-79 on Saturday night in Norman, Okla.
Carter tallied a game-high 29 points, including 24 in the second half. With the Tigers (13-12, 2-10 Southeastern Conference) trailing 75-72 inside the final two minutes, Carter netted nine consecutive points for his team for an 81-79 lead with 8 seconds left.
It was the squad's first win since beating Arkansas on Jan. 14.
Carter went 10 of 17, including 5 of 10 from 3-point range. Daimion Collins netted a career-high 22 points and added four blocks before fouling out. Dji Bailey added 13 points, five rebounds and three assists as LSU overcame a 13-point second-half deficit.
Top rebounder Corey Chest, averaging 7.3 per game, did not play because of back spasms.
An 8 1/2-point favorite, Oklahoma (16-9, 3-9) saw Jeremiah Fears net 15 points, while Jalon Moore totaled 14 points and seven rebounds. Duke Miles scored 12.
With victories over probable NCAA Tournament-bound Michigan, Arizona and Louisville, the Sooners had to take care of the business of facing LSU, 15th in the conference. Oklahoma outshot LSU to lead 18-10 on a trey from Fears from the top with 11:14 left in the first half.
After an 8-0 run by the home side, LSU cut the disadvantage to 21-17 at 8:38 on Carter's layup and soon snipped it to 27-26 on a putback by Collins at 5:30.
Ahead 35-29 at halftime, the Sooners came out of the locker room strong and quickly extended their largest lead to 13 on two free throws by Miles at 16:22.
With less than 12 minutes left, the 6-foot-9 Collins kept his LSU squad alive by swishing a trey from the top of the key and hit another jumper to make it 50-46.
Carter cut the deficit to 57-55 on a 4-point play at 8:25 as part of a 30-13 run. LSU eventually led 62-59, its first since 3-0.
Miles' three-point play put his team up 72-68 with 3:44 left, and Carter made a second four-point play as part of his late heroics.

LSU, Coastal Carolina bring 'worthy' resumes into title series
June 20 - LSU is seeking its second national Men's College World Series championship in three years and its eighth overall. Coastal Carolina is looking to extend its 26-game winning streak and win its second MCWS title. The No. 6 seed Tigers (51-15) and the No. 13 seed Chanticleers (56-11) are heavyweights that will open their best-of-three championship series Saturday night in Omaha, Neb. "Two worthy opponents in the College World Series," LSU coach Jay Johnson said Friday, adding that Coastal Carolina is "probably the best team that we've played this year." "It will make for excellent baseball," Johnson said. "I think if you're at this point in the NCAA tournament, you've been battle-tested. I don't believe there's anything we have not seen. What I mean by that is high-level pitching, high-level bullpen, high-level defense, offenses with speed, power, hitting skills, know how to play the game, move the offense." Both teams swept through three games to win their brackets and have been off since Wednesday. But Johnson has more flexibility with his starting pitching than Coastal Carolina coach Kevin Schnall as the series gets under way. On Friday, Johnson wouldn't name his starting pitcher for Game 1, but both of his top two starters are available. Ace left-hander Kade Anderson hasn't pitched since last Saturday when he threw seven innings in a 4-1 victory against Arkansas. Freshman right-hander Anthony Eyanson threw just 44 pitches Monday night before rain caused the suspension of a 9-5 victory against UCLA, which was completed Tuesday. Johnson used four pitchers but didn't need Anderson or Eyanson in a 6-5 victory against Arkansas on Wednesday night. Schnall said he will start right-hander Cameron Flukey, who threw four innings in relief, allowing two hits and two runs, in Coastal Carolina's 7-4 opening victory against Arizona on June 13. Riley Eikhoff (7-2) started the opener, throwing 45 pitches, and started and threw 98 pitches in an 11-3 victory against Louisville on Wednesday. "We have extreme confidence in everything that we do on both sides of the ball," Chanticleers catcher Caden Bodine said. "I think at the end of the day we take care of business on our side and just really respect the opponent. But honestly playing Coastal baseball is the way to win." Bodine described "Coastal baseball" as "just playing short game, playing quality at-bats, throwing competitive strikes and just having timely hitting." The Chanticleers have not lost in their two appearances in the MCWS. They swept a super regional at LSU on their way to an undefeated run in the 2016 MCWS. --Field Level Media

Livvy Dunne leaves fans stunned with shocking sexual reference about herself and Madelyn Cline
Livvy Dunne sent social media into a spin on Friday after she appeared to make a steamy sexual reference about herself and actress Madelyn Cline. While the LSU icon regularly poses in her bikini, she is relatively clean-cut when it comes to her interactions with fans... until now, that is. The interaction began when an X user described the upcoming College World Series between LSU and Coastal Carolina as the 'Madelyn Cline vs Livvy Dunne Bowl', given the pair's previous education at the rival schools. The fairly innocent comment was then taken deep into left-field by Dunne, who surprisingly replied: 'Gooner World Series'. Fans were immediately left stunned by the apparent sexual reference posted by the gymnastics icon, with one writing: 'This can't be real.' Dunne's post quickly went viral and many asked whether the LSU icon had been hacked Another added, 'had to check three times that this wasn't a parody account,' while a third noted: 'She get hacked???' 'Gooner' appears to be a reference to a form of masturbation in which the person nears climax, before stopping. Therefore, it is perhaps surprising that Dunne made such a reference to her 186,000 followers on X. Cline, meanwhile, is an actress and model most famous for her role in the Netflix series Outer Banks. She is from South Carolina and attended Coastal Carolina University briefly, before dropping out and moving to LA to pursue her acting career. Others thought they had inadvertently clicked on a parody account after seeing the tweet Cline poses for photos at the premiere of the most recent season of Netflix hit Outer Banks Dunne is most famous for her time as a gymnast at LSU, where she met her current boyfriend, now Pittsburgh Pirates star Paul Skenes. She has become a Sports Illustrated Swimsuit star in recent years too, regularly posing for the magazine in various locations around the world, and even recently making her runway debut. It was at that Miami Beach appearance on May 31 that she stunned fans by performing the splits in her bikini.

Livvy Dunne trolls MLB mascot with brutal takedown after he shot his shot with gymnastics icon
An ambitious baseball mascot failed to charm Livvy Dunne after shooting his shot with the gymnastics icon this week. During the second game of Detroit's double header with Pittsburgh on Thursday, Paws - who has been the Tigers ' mascot since 1995 - held up a sign which read 'Sup Livvy Dunne' while her Pirates-star boyfriend Paul Skenes was on the mound. But his bold attempt to win her over was quickly shut down. In a viral response, Dunne quoted a photo of Paws' sign on X and wrote: 'Sorry… not my type of tiger,' while tagging Detroit. The ex-gymnast was likely referencing the Tigers of LSU - the school she and Skenes attended. Dunne met the baseball sensation at LSU, with the pair first going public with their relationship in the summer of 2023. Tigers mascot Paws held up a sign aimed at Dunne as her boyfriend Paul Skenes was pitching Skenes, who finished the second game against the Tigers on Thursday with two earned runs and nine strikeouts in six innings pitched, is currently in his second year with the Pirates after a historic rookie season. After being drafted first overall in 2023, the pitcher quickly established himself as one of the best in the sport and was eventually named National League Rookie of the Year. Dunne recently shared a glimpse of her 'east coast summer' with Skenes on Monday as the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit cover star showed how she's been enjoying the warm weather thus far. The TikTok star, who announced her retirement from gymnastics in April, has had a busy couple of months as she attended a SI Swimsuit party last month and walked on the runway for the brand more recently. And the Westwood, New Jersey native clearly enjoyed spending some time close to home as she gleefully recapped her life of late on Instagram. In the first picture of the carousel post, Dunne sat on the grass in a bathing suit eating a cherry while her dog, Roux, sat nearby. She also shared a picture of her with influencer Alix Earle, while she's also spent much of her time cheering on Skenes for the Pirates. The LSU graduate shared a picture of herself in a Pirates hat, a view of Pittsburgh's PNC Park and a snap of Skenes playing golf as he enjoyed some time away from the baseball diamond.
