Racing stages the biggest event of the Flat racing calendar with the start of the five-day Royal Ascot meeting on Tuesday. The best horses, trainers and jockeys from Europe and others from around the world descend on the Berkshire track for the renowned occasion.
Over five days there are a host of big races, including the £1 million Prince of Wales's Stakes, the Gold Cup and the Queen Elizabeth II Jubilee Stakes. Tuesday starts with a bang with the Group 1 Queen Anne Stakes, one of the most competitive races over 1m of the year so far.

2.30 Queen Anne Stakes
SARDINIAN WARRIOR is going places at a rate of knots and has the ideal conditions to bag a first Group 1 victory.
Second in a Kempton Park novice stakes on his only start at two, the John and Thady Gosden-trained son of Saxon Warrior was unbeaten in three starts as a three-year-old in 2024, adding a handicap score at Southwell to two successes in novice stakes at the Rolleston course earlier in the campaign.
Making his comeback in the Listed Paradise Stakes over course and distance at the end of April, Sardinian Warrior accounted for solid yardstick Docklands by half a length.
And my selection ran a cracker in defeat in the Group 1 Prix d'Ispahan over nine furlongs at Longchamp last month, travelling strongly before being sent to the front entering the final quarter mile.

The last 100 yards proved a step too far as Christophe Soumillon's mount was outlasted by Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe favourite Sosie but, back at a mile on summer ground, Sardinian Warrior can show to the fore.
Lead Artist led home Dancing Gemini, Rosallion and Notable Speech in the top-level Lockinge Stakes at Newbury, and each of the quartet enters calculations.

3.05 Coventry Stakes
WARSAW belied market expectations for an impressive debut victory 10 days ago at Navan and is the selection to give Aidan O'Brien a record-extending 11th Coventry Stakes win.
‌
Three juveniles represented Ballydoyle in a five-furlong maiden in Co Meath on Derby day - 8-11 favourite Kansas, 11-1 chance Stock Market and Warsaw.
The paper forecast put Warsaw, partnered by 5lb claimer Jack Cleary, in at 7-1 but he drifted out to 18-1, in part no doubt because his pedigree - he's by Wootton Bassett out of unraced sister to 2018 Oaks heroine Forever Together - dictated he would would need further to be seen at his best.
But Warsaw had the speed to get his career off to the perfect start, leading on the run to the final furlong and putting two and three-quarter lengths between himself and Fairy Oak.
‌
Given his bloodline, it must be that Warsaw will find an additional furlong to his advantage and, with any amount of improvement to come, a good run is on the cards.
Ryan Moore has opted to ride Gstaad and the putative Ballydoyle first string is respected, along with Postmodern and, at bigger odds, Ballistic Missile.

3.40 King Charles III Stakes
MGHEERA has taken her form to a new level since joining Ed Walker from France and still has more to offer.

The five-year-old daughter of Zoustar, a four-time winner - including a win at Listed level - for Manon Scandella-Lacaille, crossed the English Channel after going under the hammer at the Arqana sales in December.
Although she had done the bulk of her racing over further, Mgheera started out for her new connections in Group 3 Prix de Saint-Georges over five furlongs at Longchamp on May 11 and hit the ground running with a length-and-a-half beating of Ciao Pa'.
Walker then sent my selection for the Group 2 Temple Stakes, again over the minimum trip, at Haydock Park 13 days later.

Sent off at 10-1 and ridden as today by William Buick, Mgheera came home with gusto to overhaul She's Quality and score by half a length with five of today's rivals in arrears.
It will be a surprise if Walker can't tease out further progress and Ascot's uphill finish looks just the ticket.
Despite a draw on the wing in stall one, Believing rates a threat to all, with last year's winner Asfoora and Night Raider others to throw into the mix.

4.20 St James's Palace Stakes

FIELD OF GOLD is expected to trace the prints of his sire Kingman to victory in the St James's Palace Stakes.
The similarities between father and son, both representatives of the Juddmonte racing and breeding enterprise and the Clarehaven Stables presided over by John and Thady Gosden, are striking.
Like Kingman 11 years before him, Field Of Gold headed the market for the 2,000 Guineas at Newmarket at the start of May and came within half a length of Classic glory, producing a storming run on the climb to the line but failing to reel in Ruling Court.

The defeat cost Kieran Shoemark his job as the Gosdens' No 1 jockey and Colin Keane, subsequently appointed Juddmonte's retained rider, was in the plate as the grey Field Of Gold, like his immediate forebear, sought redemption in the Irish version at the Curragh three weeks later.
The new partnership clicked at the first time of asking as Field Of Gold raced within himself on the outside of the nine-runner field before making headway to lead over a furlong from the finish.
Once given the office, my selection put three and a half lengths between himself and Cosmic Year, with Rashabar fourth, Officer seventh and Windlord in eighth.

That performance sets the new standard and Field Of Gold is poised for revenge on Ruling Court, leaving Poule d'Essai des Poulains (French 2,000 Guineas) winner Henri Matisse to claim the bronze medal.

MANXMAN has defied the British Horseracing Authority assessor time and again - and may do so once more.
The Simon and Ed Crisford-trained son of Cracksman began life in handicaps at Windsor in July 2023 and won from a rating of 46.

Since then, Manxman has had 12 outings in the sphere and he has won a further six, including when beating Mr Hampstead over two miles at Goodwood 25 days ago.
The five-year-old is arguably best known for role in the 2024 Cesarewitch farce - he was beaten a nose by Alphonse Le Grande, awarded the race by the Whip Review Committee and had it taken away on appeal.
This stamina test will aid Sean Dylan Bowen's partner in his bid to overcome a 4lb rise for his Goodwood success, win - and hold on to - a cherished staying prize.

In a wide-open race, Reaching High, Alphonse Le Grande, East India Dock and Ascending are just four horses capable of getting involved.

ENFJAAR has strong claims of giving his trainer Roger Varian a third Wolferton Stakes success from the past six runnings.
To come home in front today, the five-year-old son of Lope De Vega must reverse recent running with two rivals from Sandown Park's Brigadier Gerard Stakes 19 days ago.

Almaqam captured the Group 3 test, with Phantom Flight coming home in third, Military Order fourth and easy-to-back 7-1 chance Enfjaar returning fifth of the seven runners, just over seven lengths adrift of the winner.
But Jim Crowley wasn't unduly hard on my selection and a sizeable step forward should be forthcoming this afternoon.
Enfjaar came within half a length of a Listed score when a half-length second to subsequent Group 3 winner Persica in the Doonside Cup at Ayr last September and makes plenty of appeal.Last year's Jersey Stakes hero Haatem is untried at a mile and a quarter but is feared most, ahead of Haunted Dream and Sons And Lovers.

AERONAUTIC didn't shine on his reappearance but is still lightly raced and shouldn't be written off.
Having marked his second start with a Dundalk maiden win last July, Joseph O'Brien's son of Gleneagles followed up over a mile and five furlongs at Leopardstown later that month.
Aeronautic was gelded after a fourth in the Listed Vinnie Roe Stakes in Foxrock in August and couldn't get involved after a 275-day lay-off with a 14th-of-19 comeback in a 10-furlong handicap at the Curragh on May 24.
Going back up in distance is a definite plus for Dylan Browne McMonagle's mount, however, and he's unlikely to be done with after five career outings.
In a Tuesday finale of myriad possible outcomes, Charlus, Caballo De Mar and My Mate Mozzie all merit a second look.

The King and Queen will be hoping to double their tally of Royal Ascot winners when their horse takes to the turf in a sprint race. Charles and Camilla have seen their racing hopes dashed twice this week when their much fancied thoroughbreds were well beaten. But Purple Rainbow will be running in the aptly named Sandringham Stakes over a mile and could add to the couple's first Royal Ascot winner in 2023. Racegoers have been given a respite for the moment from this week's sweltering conditions, with hazy cloud over the Berkshire race course keeping temperatures below Thursday's record highs. Will Aitkenhead, head of corporate and industry affairs at the track, said: 'Whilst there are no plans to ease the dress code at this stage, we are conscious of rising temperatures through the day and will monitor the situation. We will be handing out bottled water to guests on arrival and have worked hard overnight to provide more shaded areas.' The King and Queen were joined by Camilla's old school friend Lady Cavendish and her husband Lord Cavendish in their coach during the traditional carriage procession along the course. Among the guests travelling in the carriages were the former Emir of Qatar Sheikh Hamad, the Queen's Companion the Marchioness of Lansdowne and musical maestro Lord Lloyd-Webber. Princess Eugenie, her husband Jack Brooksbank and mother Sarah, Duchess of York were spotted in the parade ring alongside former defence secretary Ben Wallace and Zara Tindall when the royal procession arrived in the exclusive area. The late Queen was a passionate owner and breeder of thoroughbreds and had more than 20 Royal Ascot winners during her 70-year reign. Charles and Camilla have taken on her stable of horses and enjoyed their first Royal Ascot winner in 2023 when their horse Desert Hero triumphed in the King George V Stakes.

As another brilliant royal meeting reaches its final day, Newsboy has studied all seven races and give his 1-2-3 for each contest in his unmissable column Royal Ascot reaches its final day on Saturday with another seven race card on which the feature is the £1 million Queen Elizabeth II Jubilee Stakes. The Group 1 6f sprint is an annual highlight and will be contested by 16 runners. It precedes the Wokingham Stakes, run over the same course and distance, in which a 28 runner will battle it out for one of the most competitive handicaps in the calendar. In the Hardwicke Stakes, globetrotting star Rebel's Romance is the big draw. ‌ ‌ 2.30 Chesham Stakes MOMENTS OF JOY gets the vote to continue Aidan O'Brien's near-monopoly of the fixture's two-year-old races. O'Brien isn't averse to throwing a filly in against the boys in the Chesham - of his seven successes, two came via September in 2017 and Bedtime Story in 2024. It's perhaps no coincidence that that pair made their debuts in the fillies' maiden at Leopardstown that Moments Of Joy started off in 16 days ago. Ballydoyle supplied the 8-15 favourite for the six-runner heat in fellow debutante Minerva, but the hotpot struggled in third four lengths away as 3-1 second choice Moments Of Joy and Wayne Lordan put up a game display to get the better of Little Sure Shot by half a length. The form of that race doesn't look exceptional and a step forward is required as Justify's daughter, now the mount of Moore, steps up to Listed grade. But it will rank as a shock if there isn't plenty more to come and Moments Of Joy can take her record to 2-2. Treanmor scored impressively at Newmarket on his debut and fits into the 'could be anything' category, while first-time-out winners Humidity and Venetian Lace also appeal. NEWSBOY'S 1-2-3: 1 MOMENTS OF JOY, 2 TREANMOR, 3 HUMIDITY ‌ 3.05 Hardwicke Stakes AL AASY is giving his 11 opponents a year and more, but may yet be up to giving them a beating, too. ‌ At eight years of age - he's run 24 times - William Haggas's stable stalwart has little in the way of scope for improvement, but his best might be enough. Al Aasy is a serial winner of Group 3 races - he's garnered no fewer than seven of them, including when carrying a penalty to victory in the Geoffrey Freer Stakes at Newbury last August. Jim Crowley's mount was back in business in the grade with a half-length margin in Sandown Park's Gordon Richards Stakes - the form has since been boosted by third home Almaqam and fifth See The Fire - in April. ‌ My choice didn't get a pace to aim at when fourth in the Group 3 Aston Park Stakes at Newbury last time but there should be a gallop on for this Group 2 test. Favourite Rebel's Romance is feared most, ahead of Epic Poet and Ghostwriter. NEWBOY'S 1-2-3: 1 AL AASY, 2 REBEL'S ROMANCE, 3 EPIC POET ‌ 3.40 Queen Elizabeth II Jubilee Stakes INISHERIN , successful in the Commonwealth Cup 12 months ago, has an excellent chance of doubling up in the final Group 1 of the meeting. Kevin Ryan gave Shamardal's son the chance to prove himself as a top-class miler in last season's 2,000 Guineas but decided to come back in distance after Inisherin faded close home in returning sixth behind Notable Speech at Newmarket. The plan yielded an immediate dividend as Inisherin gained an impressive victory in the Group 2 Sandy Lane Stakes at Haydock Park three weeks later, a performance that saw him sent off the 9-4 favourite at Royal Ascot. ‌ He didn't disappoint his backers, moving with menace in the shadow of the leaders before blasting clear a furlong out to humble Lake Forest by two and a quarter lengths. My selection didn't reproduce that form in Newmarket's July Cup - he returned in fifth behind Mill Stream - or when producing a team 13th-of-16 finish behind Montassib in the Sprint Cup at Haydock Park eight weeks later. But, on the back of wind surgery, Inisherin was back in business under Ryan Moore - William Buick is on board today - in the Group 2 1895 Duke Of York Stakes on the Knavesmire last month with a neck call from Flora Of Bermuda. ‌ Inisherin will come for his first start for 249 days and under identical conditions to last June, must go well. Japanese challenger Satono Reve, Elite Status and Lazzat are taken to fight it out for the minor medals. NEWSBOY'S 1-2-3: 1 INISHERIN, 2 SATONO REVE, 3 ELITE STATUS ‌ 4.20 Jersey Stakes SARACEN , boasting a high level of ability on the back of just two starts, has the credentials to put his opponents to the sword. Joseph O'Brien gave the Siyouni colt his introduction in a six-furlong maiden at the Curragh last October and Dylan Browne McMonagle's mount created a lasting impression with a four-length margin of victory from Pickersgill. After an absence of 172 days, my selection made his comeback in the Group 3 Greenham Stakes at Newbury in April, racing keenly and running on from the back of the field to take third, beaten three and a half lengths, to Jonquil. ‌ That form has since given a shot in the arm by the winner's narrow defeat in the Poule d'Essai des Poulains (French 2,000 Guineas) and Saracen, stepping out on the track for just the third time, has a good deal more to offer. Jonquil's stable-companion Marvelman rates a player, along with the unbeaten Remmooz and Commanche Brave. NEWSBOY'S 1-2-3: 1 SARACEN, 2 MARVELMAN, 3 REMMOOZ ‌ 5.00 Wokingham Stakes ORAZIO comes with risks attached but ran a belter in this race 12 months ago and is weighted to play a leading role. The grey son of Caravaggio was seemingly on his way up when sixth as the 7-2 favourite for the Wokingham in 2023. As it turned out, Orazio's course-and-distance success 43 days prior to that defeat has proved to be his last, and he lines up in the race for the third time on the back of a nine-strong losing sequence. ‌ But there's no doubting his efficacy when the cards fall his way, as he showed here 12 months ago. A 16-1 shot, Orazio flew home from the back of the field to take third, half a length and a head behind winner Unequal Love. Saffie Osborne's partner is now 1lb lower in the weights and, if there is a stage where he's most likely to put his best foot forward, it's this one. Dangers lurk at every turn, with Aramram, Purosangue, Zoum Zoum and Apollo One just four horses who merit a second glance. NEWSBOY'S 1-2-3: 1 ORAZIO, 2 ARAMRAM, 3 ZOUM ZOUM ‌ 5.35 Golden Gates Stakes EL BURHAN goes from strength to strength - and another personal best is on the cards now he tackles a mile and a quarter. ‌ A debut fourth at Newmarket in May of last year led to victories in novice stakes at Great Yarmouth and Beverley before the son of New Bay rounded off his campaign with a nursery third at Glorious Goodwood in August. El Burhan was gelded during his 280 days on the sidelines before making his return to the fray in a handicap over seven and a half furlongs at Chester's May meeting. Fitted with a tongue strap that is re-applied today, Jim Crowley's mount ground his way to a neck beating of God Of War in a blanket finish. ‌ Both his run style and pedigree suggest the George Boughey trainee will benefit from the extra yardage and a 2lb rise for his latest success isn't the end of the world. Quai De Bethune, Sallaal and Dakota Blue all have podium claims. NEWSBOY'S 1-2-3: 1 EL BURHAN, 2 QUAI DE BETHUNE, 3 DAKOTA BLUE ‌ 6.10 Queen Alexandra Stakes SAMUI ran well above his odds in Tuesday's Copper Horse Handicap and is put up as the value alternative to hot favourite Sober. In addition to four wins in the National Hunt sphere - one in a bumper and three over hurdles - the Gordon Elliott-saddled six-year-old has two staying handicap victories on the Flat on his CV. Out of the money over timber at Cheltenham and Punchestown this spring, Samui returned to the level for a Listed-race fifth at Down Royal at the end of last month before being sent off at 16-1 against 15 opponents here four days ago. ‌ Colin Keane's mount - Ireland's six-time champion jockey keeps the partnership intact - was strong at the finish in finishing a three-length third to French Master. Fast ground is no issue for Samui and this extended two-mile, five-furlong distance should play to his strengths. Sober has yet to encounter terrain this quick but is an obvious candidate, while Wild Ways and Trooper Bisdee are others to throw into the mix.
