Express Tribune10-05-2025

DJ Snake will make history on May 10 by performing back-to-back shows at two of France's biggest venues: the 80,000-seat Stade de France and the 20,000-seat Accor Arena.
The unprecedented event comes as the French-Algerian artist prepares to release his third studio album, six years after Carte Blanche.
The first event, titled The Final Show, sold out within three minutes, leading DJ Snake to book the Accor Arena for a follow-up performance the same night. Both shows highlight his global appeal, with 13 billion streams on Spotify and multiple hits like 'Lean On' and 'Let Me Love You.'
Speaking to Billboard France, DJ Snake emphasised his deep connection to Paris and his journey from local DJ to global icon. He described the concerts as a 'cultural victory' and a tribute to his roots, blending Arabic, African, and French musical influences.
Following the album release, DJ Snake plans to launch a new label to support emerging artists and also release a side project EP under his alias, The Outlaw. The EP is expected to reflect a more underground, creatively free style.
DJ Snake also acknowledged the shifting landscape of electronic music, citing rapid consumption via platforms like TikTok, and reaffirmed his commitment to creative independence and authenticity.
The two sold-out concerts mark a major milestone in his career and signal the start of a new chapter for one of France's most successful electronic music artists.

Beyoncé might surprise Paris on the Cowboy Carter Tour, and it has everything to do with Miley Cyrus

Speculation over a surprise performance by Miley Cyrus alongside Beyoncé on the Cowboy Carter Tour has intensified after a new video surfaced online, appearing to show the two stars rehearsing together in Paris. Cyrus, 32, was already drawing attention earlier this week when she was spotted around the French capital, reportedly promoting her new album Something Beautiful. Over several outings, including a visit to her hotel where she was greeted by fans, the singer was seen in a series of bold fashion statements — Miley wowed in a gray sheer dress with black, leather opera gloves as she headed to an event. -BackGrid. The excitement surrounding her Paris trip took a new turn after fans recalled her recent interview teasing a possible live performance of 'II Most Wanted,' her Grammy-winning duet with Beyoncé. 'I have her show in Paris on my calendar right now, so we'll see,' Cyrus said, adding, 'I'm excited to be around Beyoncé as anyone else.' Beyoncé is currently scheduled to perform at Stade de France on June 19, 21, and 22 as part of her Cowboy Carter world tour. With Cyrus in the same city and now seen rehearsing with the 43-year-old superstar, fans are speculating a surprise on-stage collaboration is imminent. While there has been no official confirmation from either artist's team, the video circulating on social media has heightened anticipation that Cyrus may make a guest appearance during one of Beyoncé's upcoming Paris shows.

Cardi B debuts fiery new track Outside at Cannes

Cardi B made a bold splash at her debut performance in Cannes, premiering her fiery new single Outside during a Spotify-hosted event on the beach. The rapper, known for her unfiltered lyrics and commanding stage presence, delivered the song ahead of its official June 20 release, and it didn't take long for fans to start speculating that the track is aimed at her estranged husband, Offset. Produced by Charlie Heat and HeyMicki, Outside is packed with pointed lyrics that many believe target the Migos rapper. 'When I tell you these n—–s ain't shit, please believe me,' Cardi raps. 'They gon' f—k on anything, these n—–s way too easy / Good for nothing, low-down, dirty dogs, I'm convinced / Next time you see your momma, tell her how she raised a b—ch.' The speculation comes after weeks of Cardi posting cryptic (and not-so-cryptic) messages online about relationship drama and betrayal, fuelling rumours of a full-blown fallout with Offset. Though she hasn't confirmed the diss, the message in the lyrics is hard to miss. The cover art for her single, which Cardi teased on Instagram, features a vivid scene of a classic NYC summer day — a burst fire hydrant, red Solo cups, lipstick, dominoes, and blunt wrappers scattered across a sidewalk with a caption that said, 'We OUTSIDE this Friday'. In addition to debuting Outside, Cardi lit up the Cannes stage with a high-energy set featuring hits like Bodak Yellow, Money, I Like It, Up, and Bongos, her collaboration with Megan Thee Stallion. She closed the show with the fan-favourite WAP, marking her first performance in Cannes as nothing short of unforgettable.

‘Jurassic World: Rebirth' brings fans back to dangerous dinosaur realm

LONDON: Scarlett Johansson's role in 'Jurassic World: Rebirth' made her recall her earliest memories of the dinosaur film franchise. The 'Black Widow' actor recalled seeing the first 'Jurassic Park' film at the movie theater when she was 10 years old. 'It imprinted on me very deeply,' she told Reuters at the London premiere at Odeon Luxe Leicester Square. 'For the next three decades, I was like, I would have done anything to be in a Jurassic movie in any capacity,' she added. The franchise, created by author Michael Crichton, has spawned several films, merchandising deals and video games. Netflix to stream French TV content in world first 'Jurassic World: Rebirth,' directed by Gareth Edwards, follows a team of specialists that embarks on an expedition to a forbidden island, home to a research facility for the original 'Jurassic Park'. Some of the specialists include Johansson and 'Bridgerton' actor Jonathan Bailey, who must obtain DNA samples from three dinosaurs to achieve a life-saving medical breakthrough. The Universal Pictures film arrives in theaters on July 2. For Rupert Friend, who also plays one of the specialists, this installment in the franchise is exhilarating. 'I love adventure. I love being taken on a ride where you don't know what's going to happen. I love the unknown. I love risk,' he said. For well-known science fiction director, Edwards, the pressure for the film to succeed did not hit until he arrived at the premiere. 'It's all front and centre here. It feels a bit weird, to be honest. I can't quite get my head around it,' the 'Rogue One: A Star Wars Story' director added.
