BRS Silver Jubilee public meeting venue turns into ‘Gulabi Jatara'

The venue of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) massive public meeting to mark its Silver Jubilee celebrations on the sprawling grounds spanning more than 1,200 acres at Elkathurthy in the political nerve centre of Warangal district turned into a 'Gulabi Jatara' (Pink fair) on Sunday evening. The dais, adorned with pink banners and festoons, resonated with slogans 'Jai Telangana' and 'Jai KCR' with a steady stream of people thronging the venue to participate in the silver jubilee fete of the party. The fete got off to an enthusiastic start this evening with noted folk artists led by the party's former Manakondur MLA Rasamayi Balakishan performing 'Dhoom Dham' amid pulsating traditional drumbeats. The venue echoed with songs in praise of goddesses Yellamma and Pochamma and rhythmic tunes extolling the historic Telangana Statehood movement. Traffic jams were reported at various spots, including Hasanparthy and Gattu Duddenapally on the Karimnagar-Warangal highway, leaving a large number of vehicles bound for the public meeting stranded midway.
