Alex Condon returning to Florida basketball for junior season
Florida basketball will return all four core pieces of its frontcourt rotation in the 2025-26 season following the news that rising junior Alex Condon is returning for another year with the Gators.
ESPN's Jonathan Givony broke the news Tuesday afternoon. Condon had been going through pre-draft evaluations and meetings to gauge his stock for the upcoming summer. The No. 38 overall prospect on ESPN's big board, Condon is looking to lock himself into a first-round pick with his decision to give college ball another year. Of course, Florida has a history of contending for back-to-back national championships while being led by a frontcourt duo.
"It's a really good situation waiting for me there," Condon said. "A great coach with Todd Golden. Teammates I won a national championship with. I have great chemistry with those boys. We have a good transfer class coming in. I expect guys to make a leap. My big man coach, Carlin Hartman, is returning, so I will keep developing my game with him."
Condon averaged 10.6 points, 7.5 rebounds, 2.2 assists and 1.3 blocks over 24.9 minutes per game last year. He earned a third-team All-SEC nod but did not receive much national recognition, even through the NCAA Tournament.
His return is Florida's biggest addition, or retention rather, of the offseason. Replacing the entirety of the backcourt has taken center stage, but getting Condon back makes the Gators surefire contenders heading into next season. He'll have to learn how to play with Boogie Fland and Xavian Lee; however, both are strong pick and roll players, which should make things easy/
Thomas Haugh and Rueben Chinyelu are also returning despite being draft prospects. Haugh never entered his name into the draft and Chinyelu withdrew a couple of weeks ago. Florida started Condon and Chinyelu for most of the year while using Haugh as a pseudo-starter off the bench. After a strong finish to the 2024-25 campaign for Haugh, the rotation might change in his favor, but there's also Micah Handlogten to consider. He'll be healthy and ready for more action next year as well.
However, Todd Golden decides to play this group, getting Condon is the ribbon on top of the present or the star on top of the tree. He completes the roster and makes Florida a marketable top-5 team ready for the spotlight, both nationwide and within the SEC.

TJ McConnell's mom has tense moment with ESPN crew in gutting NBA Finals scene

TJ McConnell's mom, Shelly, wasn't having it when ESPN cameras filmed the Pacers guard crying in her arms after Indiana's loss to the Thunder in Game 7 of the NBA Finals on Sunday. ESPN cameras followed McConnell into the tunnel at OKC's Paycom Center, where his mother was waiting to console him privately after Indiana's103-91 defeat at the hands of OKC. 'Stop!' Shelly said as she put her hand up to the camera. The camera followed the mother-son duo as they walked arm-in-arm down the hallway. McConnell kept his head down and on Shelly's shoulder as she kept telling the camera person to stop filming. 3 TJ McConnell's mom, Shelly told ESPN cameras to stop filming the Pacers guard crying in her arms after Indiana's loss to the Thunder in Game 7 of the NBA Finals on Sunday, June 22, 2025. The veteran guard — who stepped when Tyrese Haliburton went down with an Achilles injury — was crying in Miller's arms, as seen in a social media video. McConnell finished with 16 points, six rebounds and three assists. The Pacers will be faced with a decision at the point guard position if Haliburton misses the entirety of the 2025-26 season. McConnell proved himself a worthy candidate with his strong performacne in the Pacers' postseason run, which included upsets of the Cavaliers and Knicks, and came up one win short of a championship.

Can Texas A&M Football finally break the eight-win cycle in 2025?

The summer for Texas A&M football has given Aggie fans plenty to be excited about, especially with how well the program has been recruiting for the 2026 class. Paired with a veteran team ranked in the top five for returning production, it's easy to see why some in the media are high on the Maroon & White next season. Over the last decade, Texas A&M has fallen into a frustrating cycle: a strong start to the season, finishing with eight wins, securing a solid recruiting class, raising fans' hopes, only to end with another eight-win campaign. A true live-action version of 'wash, rinse, repeat' that's left the fan base feeling apathetic. Although A&M is currently in the 'solid recruiting' phase of this cycle, the team under second-year head coach Mike Elko seems to carry a different vibe. That's been evident not only among current players but also among recruits the Aggie staff has connected with over the past season. Positive energy is great for recruiting and roster retention, but the ultimate question is whether that energy will translate to success on the field. For too long, Texas A&M has been on the outside looking in, despite boasting some of the best facilities in the country and consistent media hype from across the college football world. We're back in that familiar spot, but this year, something feels different. That SEC Football Podcast recently previewed the Aggies' upcoming season and shared slightly differing opinions on what lies ahead.
