Seahawks have lowest odds to win NFC West in 2025
The NFC West division was competitive throughout the 2024 season. The Seattle Seahawks finished 10-7, matching the Los Angeles Rams' record. The Rams won the division on the tiebreaker, and the Seahawks missed the postseason altogether.
The division promises to be incredibly unpredictable in 2025. The Rams hope to repeat as champions, and the Seahawks underwent sweeping offseason changes in hope of capturing improvement. The Arizona Cardinals and San Francisco 49ers also believe they're better-positioned to compete.
Pro Football Focus recently released their way-too-early odds for each division winner. Somewhat surprisingly, the 49ers own the best odds at +165. The Rams are a close second at +175. The Cardinals are +410, and the Seahawks rank dead last at +550.
"The NFC West projects as one of the closest divisional races in the NFL in 2025," Mason Cameron wrote. "The 49ers currently lead the pack, with expectations that a defense-heavy draft and Christian McCaffrey's return will right the ship after a six-win campaign last season. Going from worst to first seems a bit rich in this market, though. Even with their roster improvements, the 49ers have a lot riding on key playmakers returning to form in McCaffrey and Brandon Aiyuk, following tough injuries."
"The Cardinals and Seahawks are both promising squads heading into 2024," Cameron continued. "While Seattle still has questions to answer after a massive roster overhaul, Arizona profiles as a solid value here, given its aggressive additions on defense this offseason. Even still, will it be enough to overtake the Rams in the race for the division crown?"
The Seahawks are hoping a change in philosophical approach will lead to more consistent results in 2025. For now, analysts are in a holding pattern when projecting the Seahawks' upcoming season. They'll have to prove their standing as legit competitors in the NFC West.

49ers 3rd-Round Rookie Linebacker Suffers Fracture

49ers 3rd-Round Rookie Linebacker Suffers Fracture originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The San Francisco 49ers have suffered an offseason injury as rookie linebacker Nick Martin fractured his thumb while lifting weights, as reported by Noah Furtado of the San Francisco Chronicle. Advertisement Early reports were that it was a recent injury, but Furtado clarified the situation on his X account. "Regarding rumors that #49ers third-round LB Nick Martin broke his thumb, he suffered a minor fracture a few weeks ago but did not miss any subsequent practices or workouts, per source. Martin won't need surgery and is expected to be fully healthy by training camp." It's notable that the thumb injury never sidelined Martin and he never missed any offseason practice time. He's expected to be fully ready for the beginning of training camp. The 22-year-old missed seven games of his final season at Oklahoma State with a knee injury, but he's expected to be a contributor in his rookie season after the 49ers drafted him in the third round with the No. 75 overall pick. Advertisement Martin's pick wasn't a surprise, as the team needed to address defense in the draft. Martin was a First-Team All-Big 12 standout who posted 140 tackles with 16 for loss last season, and should have an opportunity to crack the starting lineup early, as San Francisco doesn't have a ton of seasoned veterans at outside linebacker other than Fred Warner. If Martin proves he's healthy, he'll be fighting for playing time with Dee Winters, Tatum Bethune and others. But first, he could have to impress on special teams for defensive coordinator Robert Saleh. 49ers' Mustapha Appears Ahead of Schedule in Injury Recovery

49ers' Mustapha Appears Ahead of Schedule in Injury Recovery originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Malik Mustapha quickly became a valuable asset to the San Francisco 49ers defense last season as a rookie. Heading into 2025 where the Niners lost multiple starters in the secondary, Mustapha may be called on to produce even more. Advertisement Except ... he suffered a torn ACL in San Francisco's regular season finale. The team decided to keep the injury hushed until after the NFL Draft even though Mustapha had already underwent surgery. As the team wraps up minicamp, we have already seen glimpses of the former fourth-round pick in his rehab. Mustapha was reportedly in attendance for every OTA and minicamp session, and despite not being able to compete in team drills, was working diligently with the athletic training staff at practice. He is looking very strong in a video update posted to social media, leading us to believe he could be ahead of schedule in his recovery. Mustapha's surgically repaired right knee is just 21 weeks removed from operation. The Wake Forest product, who has already undergone a knee recovery in college, was seen pulling sleds and lifting weights seemingly with ease. Advertisement Although we would have liked to see some side-to-side movement and change of direction to fully gauge his strength, we'll take what we can get in signs of progress. Still, things look good at this stage of the offseason. Initial reports predicted Mustapha would start the season on the physically unable to perform (PUP) list, meaning he would have to miss the first four games. If he keeps up this work, he could make a run at being fully healthy before Week 5 and return to manning the 49ers' secondary sooner than expected. That would be a major plus for a San Francisco roster that was plagued with injury all throughout last season. Advertisement The Niners didn't draft a safety this year until the fifth round in Marques Sigle. The rest of the defensive backfield is likely to include youngster Ji'Ayir Brown and free-agent grab Jason Pinnock. Losing All-Pro safety Talanoa Hufanga will sting if the 49ers can't find a suitable substitute before Mustapha recovers. By the looks of it, he is hoping the team won't have to wait long for his return. Rams WR Davante Adams could move up these all-time NFL lists

Los Angeles Rams receiver Davante Adams heads into his 12th NFL season as one of the best players at his position. He's caught 957 receptions for 11,844 yards and 103 touchdowns in 164 career games. Adams will undoubtable add to those totals in L.A. with Matthew Stafford as his quarterback, even with Puka Nacua alongside him. Sean McVay loves his receivers and Adams might be the best one he's ever coached. It would certainly explain the coach's aggressive pursuit of Adams this offseason. Heading into the 2025 season, Adams ranks 20th in receptions, 33rd in receiving yards and 10th in receiving touchdowns. If he reaches his season-long averages, Adams will move up in all three categories. How far, though, remains up to him and the Rams. Adams needs just 14 receptions to move into 19th place ahead of Brandon Marshall. That seems like a lock unless Adams gets injured very early in the season. Adams also needs just 43 to break 1,000 career receptions, which only 15 other receivers have done. If Adams reaches his 89-catch average, though, he could rise to as high as No. 12 — Andre Johnson. And if Adams sets a career-high mark of at least 123 receptions (which he last did in 2020), he could push to as high as No. 8 ahead of Terrell Owens' 1078 receptions. Three active players who could shake up where Adams lands at the end of the season in career receptions: Keenan Allen (No. 18, 974), DeAndre Hopkins (No. 16, 984) and Travis Kelce (No. 14, 1004). All three are ahead of Adams and only Allen isn't on a roster at the moment. Adams can make a big leap in the all-time receiving yards record book. His 11,844 yards rank No. 33 in NFL history, and if he breaks his 1,077-yard seasonal average for his career, Adams would move up to No. 22. However, he'd once again be contending with Hopkins, who sits at No. 21 at 12,965. The other two active players on the list (Kelce at No. 28 and Mike Evans at No. 24) are less than 1,000 yards ahead of him, but would need very poor seasons to drop. The final major stat Adams could move up on the all-time list is receiving touchdowns. His 103 ranks No. 10 in league history, but there isn't a lot of room for improvement on that spot in 2025. Evans sits two touchdowns ahead of Adams at No. 9 with 105, while Tony Gonzalez's 111 career scores is No. 8. Adams averages nine touchdowns per season, meaning the highest he could climb is No. 8 if he can outpace Evans by at least two touchdowns. Adams would need 13 scores to move to No. 7, ahead of Antonio Games. He's only done that once in his career (2020 with the Packers). There is a lot of opportunity for Adams to eat in his Rams offense. And while the ultimate goal is a Super Bowl, moving up some record books is a nice consolation prize for the legendary pass-catcher.
