Telford community garden providing 'peaceful space' opens
A community garden providing a peaceful space away from the "hustle and bustle of daily life" has been opened.The sensory garden at Dawley Christian Centre in Telford, described as a "tranquil oasis", features colourful, sweet-smelling flowers, herbs and calming water features, Telford and Wrekin Council said.The authority put £7,000 of funding towards the space, which includes an area where children under five can learn to plant.Sharon Hanson, church secretary at Dawley Christian Centre, said the project had been "several years in the making".
"It was just a piece of grass and now it is a peaceful space for everyone to visit and take time out from the hustle and bustle of daily life," she added.The council said this and similar projects helped to bring people together and "create a sense of belonging".Upcycled planters and benches were used to create the garden, which is surrounded by a fence made with recycled bottles.The garden on High Street is available for people to use Monday to Friday between 09:00 and 14:00.

Firefighters rescue two from blaze in St Austell
Firefighters have rescued two people from a burning building in St Austell, from St Austell and St Dennis were called to the fire in Trevail Way at 19:22 BST on Friday, Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service entered the building and helped the two trapped residents to safety before extinguishing the operation was supported by additional fire engines from Fowey and Lostwithiel, as well as Devon and Cornwall Police and South Western Ambulance Service. Former golf club building badly damaged in fire
A former golf club building has been badly damaged in a and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service (DWFRS) said firefighters were called to the derelict structure on Christchurch Road, Longham at about 18:00 of the scene showed smoke billowing from the former Dudsbury Golf Club said it was "well alight" when firefighters arrived and warned nearby residents to keep doors and windows closed.
