Cavaliers update health status of injured trio
INDEPENDENCE, Ohio (WKBN) – Joe Vardon of The Athletic is reporting that the Cleveland Cavaliers are optimistic that their injured trio of standout players will try to play in game three of the Eastern Conference Semifinals.
All-Star Darius Garland has missed the last four games with a sprained big toe. Fellow All-Star Evan Mobley is battling a sprained ankle, while De'Andre Hunter has a sprained thumb.
According to head coach Kenny Atkinson, all three players participated in Thursday's walk-through, and are considered questionable on the injury report heading into game three.
Indiana leads the best-of-seven series 2-0. Game three is set for Friday night at 7:30 p.m. at Gainbridge Fieldhouse.

Ryan Nembhard Joins Top Eastern Conference Team in Latest ESPN Mock Draft
Ryan Nembhard Joins Top Eastern Conference Team in Latest ESPN Mock Draft originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The 2025 NBA draft is roughly one week away, with the first round set to begin on Wednesday, June 25 at 5:00 PM PT while the second round will start 24 hours later. Advertisement Gonzaga guard Ryan Nembhard is unlikely to hear his name called on Wednesday, but it is becoming increasingly likely he is selected sometime on Thursday during the second round of the draft - thanks to a strong performance at the NBA combine last month as well as multiple high level guards opting to return to school instead of going pro. ESPN's latest mock draft has Nembhard sneaking into the second round, going No. 58 overall to the Cleveland Cavaliers - the second to last pick in the draft. Cleveland won the Eastern Conference regular season last year, going 64-18 and cruising into the playoffs as the No. 1 seed before they were displaced by none other than Ryan's brother Andrew and his Indiana Pacers in the conference semifinals. Advertisement Led by star guards Donovan Mitchell (24 points per game) and Darius Garland (20.6 points, 6.7 assists) Cleveland could look at Nembhard as an older more NBA ready prospect who can serve as a backup option at the one. Most of Cleveland's other guards are more comfortable playing off the ball, giving Nembhard a chance to compete for a role right away - not something many late second round picks get a chance to do. Nembhard measured at 5'11 at the combine with a 6'2 wingspan, and his slight frame is working against him in a league that is focused on size and length now more than ever before. Still, his elite floor vision, pick and roll navigation, and improved outside shooting give him a decent floor to contribute at the next level right away, and a team like Cleveland is an obvious choice to select him and raise their championship floor. Is Celtics' Joe Mazzulla on the hot seat next season?
Joe Mazzulla has just completed his third season as the Boston Celtics' head coach. Unfortunately, the team's season didn't end the way we all hoped, as the New York Knicks eliminated the Celtics in the Eastern Conference Semifinals. Furthermore, Mazzulla's coaching skill is set to be put to the test next season. Without Jayson Tatum, Mazzulla must develop some of the younger talent on the roster while also implementing a different offensive system. Throughout his tenure with the Celtics, Mazzulla has been the subject of consistent scrutiny, primarily due to Boston's 3-point-heavy offensive approach. However, that same system has seen the third-year head coach secure a 74% regular season win ratio, winning 182 of the 246 games he's led the team. Mazzulla's Celtics are also 33-17 in the postseason. Cedric Maxwell and John Zannis recently debated Mazzulla's credentials as a head coach on a recent episode of the eponymous CLNS Media "Cedric Maxwell" podcast. The duo then asked the ever-important question of whether Mazzulla could survive a bad season for the Celtics in the 2025-26 campaign, especially with the team needing to bounce back the following year.
