Bhool Chuk Maaf box office collection early estimate: Rajkummar Rao and Wamiqa Gabbi-starrer Bhool Chuk Maaf finally released in theatres today on Friday. The movie, which opened to mixed reviews from critics and the audience, has earned Rs 4.62 crore in India as of 7 pm, according to industry tracker Sacnilk. It is expected to be one of the lowest openers of 2025 so far.
The low box office collection is all the more surprising given that the makers of Bhool Chuk Maaf had offered multiple discounts and slashed ticket prices at multiplexes. The film recorded an occupancy rate of 9.40% for morning shows and 18.26% in the afternoon. The highest turnout was in Chennai, with occupancy reaching 57.00%, according to Sacnilk.

Earlier, the makers of the film announced that it would bypass a theatrical release and premiere directly on Amazon Prime Video, citing escalating Indo-Pakistan tensions. However, several reports suggested that Maddock Films made the decision just a night before the planned release due to extremely low advance bookings. The digital release, originally scheduled for May 16, was delayed after PVR-INOX filed a lawsuit against the makers, claiming losses of Rs 60 crore. The legal dispute has since been amicably resolved. As an exception to standard practice, Bhool Chuk Maaf will now release on OTT within a two-week window.

Directed by Karan Sharma, Bhool Chuk Maaf also features Sanjay Mishra, Zakir Hussain, Anubha Fatehpuria, Raghubir Yadav, and Seema Pahwa. A part of SCREEN's review of the movie read, 'For a long time, Bhool Chuk Maaf looks and feels like the poor man's Brahmastra (remember that one?). A couple prancing up and down Varanasi's ghats and gullies, surrounded by gais, gendas, gurus and the Ganga, and few raised eyebrows. Ultimately, Bhool Chuk Maaf may end up being remembered for all that happened off screen – the confusion between its theatrical and OTT release, and a 'compromise' (which has worried many in the industry) that means that within two weeks, it will be showing on a TV near you.'

The Tollywood movie opened to a massive ₹ 14.75 crore net in India, according to industry tracker Sacnilk. The movie witnessed 19.39 percent spike in its earnings on the second day in theatres and minted ₹ 17.61 crore net on Saturday, June 21. Telugu screenings are driving its earnings and domestic box office collection after two day run stands at ₹ 32.36 crore net. Kuberaa's star cast also features Jim Sarbh and Dalip Tahil in pivotal roles. The filmmakers in a post on X claimed that the movie did a business of ₹ 30 crore gross worldwide on Day 1. The post states, " ₹ 30 Cr+ Day 1 worldwide gross (estimated). This is just the beginning of a rage that's set to ignite the box office in the days to come."

It was fascinating to see the speed at which something can go from niche to status symbol—not because of story, not because of meaning, but because it entered the right frame, in the right photo, with the right person.' Varma says, 'We have reached a point where people don't want to join culture. They want to skip straight to owning the symbol of it.' DOLL'S PARTY But for brands there's no set playbook to go by. Assomull says if a brand doesn't already have a playful or quirky side, forcing cuteness can backfire. Vivita Relan, cofounder of the whimsical ceramics brand The Wishing Chair, has been riding the cute wave since 2012. She says the line between whimsical and childish is paper-thin. Brands can strike the right balance with intent and execution. She says, 'We use playful silhouettes, but ground them in well-made artistry. Also, cuteness isn't about making an exact design replica of something from your childhood, but about evoking that feeling.' Arora agrees.
