Nottingham Forest boss Nuno Espirito Santo signs new three-year deal

Nottingham Forest manager Nuno Espirito Santo has signed a new three-year contract to remain at the City Ground until at least 2028.
The 51-year-old guided Forest to a seventh-place finish in the Premier League last season, securing European qualification for the first time since the 1995-96 season.
For much of the campaign, it looked as though Forest were going to qualify for the Champions League, but they lost five of their last eight games.

However, that has not prevented owner Evangelos Marinakis from rewarding Nuno following the club's highest league finish for 30 years, while they also reached the semi-finals of the FA Cup before losing to Manchester City.
Nuno said: 'I am delighted to be able to continue our journey at this fantastic football club.
'Since we arrived at Forest, we have worked extremely hard to create a special bond between the players, the fans and everyone at the Club, which helped us achieve great things last season.
'I would like to thank our owner, Mr Marinakis, for his constant support and backing. It is important to me to share a strong relationship with our ownership and we have thoroughly enjoyed working together ever since I arrived at Forest.
'Now is the time to work harder than ever as we strive for more special memories together.'
The former Wolves and Tottenham boss arrived at the City Ground in December 2023 following the sacking of Steve Cooper, and helped the club avoid relegation on the final day of the season.
Marinakis said: 'Nuno has made a great impact and performed very well during his time with us so far.
'He has demonstrated that he maximises player performance and is an expert at developing players, whilst also embedding our young talent into the first team set-up.
'We enjoy a strong and solid relationship together and, above all, we share the same dream and ambition of writing a new history for Nottingham Forest, competing in the Premier League and in Europe and winning trophies for our great club.'

'I went to Slot's house to discuss a transfer - he just told me how bad I was!'

That was during his Feyenoord days and a move never materialised. Danjuma, who has won six caps for the Netherlands, was at Villarreal who were competing in the Champions League. Feyenoord came knocking as they sought to bring him back to his homeland, but Slot was scathing in his assessment of the player. ‌ Danjuma played for Bournemouth, Tottenham and Everton during his time in the Premier League. He's now back in Spain with Girona but had numerous conversations with the Liverpool boss as a move was considered. ‌ However in a humbling meeting the forward, who had become one of the leading lights at Villarreal, met Slot but was told in no uncertain terms where his weaknesses were. He told Ziggo Sport: "At that time I had a really good conversation with Arne Slot. That was one of many times that there was contact. It's just to indicate that it's very contextual. At that time I had the luxury of going to Arne Slot's house and listening to him for an hour how bad I was. I'll never forget it." Despite having to face the music Danjuma was mightly impressed by Slot and the way he communicated with him. His prediction for him proved to be true with the Dutchman succeeding Jurgen Klopp and winning the Premier League in his first year despite few tipping Liverpool to land the title. He said: "I actually thought that was very strong. It convinced me of how good he is as a trainer. He opened his laptop and showed his plans and project. Everyone knew that Slot would be a good trainer. He showed me my own game. What I did well, but then also what I did badly, what I could improve. That also appealed to me immediately. "His way of doing things, his way of acting and his way of talking, were all things that made me think: this is someone I could play well under. In the end I didn't do it. At the time, Champions League football was also connected to it. So for me it's very contextual." Slot's composure and smart tactics earned huge praise during his first year in England. The Dutchman made subtle tweaks to aid the team that he inherited from Klopp. Now, after landing the title, he's looked to evolve the team and has been aggressive in the transfer market, breaking the British transfer record to land Florian Wirtz. Rangers 'set' to offer Nicolas Raskin new deal amid interest

The Belgian has been linked with clubs in England and his former manager Philippe Clement even suggested he is ready to sign for a top half Premier League side after emerging as a leading player in the Gers squad last season. Raskin is currently contracted at Ibrox until 2027, meaning he would be heading into next summer's break with just a year left on his deal. The Scottish Sun is reporting new manager Russell Martin is keen to build his team around the 24-year-old and, as such, wants him tied down on a new contract. Sporting director Kevin Thelwell is on the same page and is ready to sanction an offer. Read more: Thelwell, along with the new US owners, want a far better player trading model in place. And committing Raskin to a new deal would be one step towards that. It would mean any interested clubs would then be aware they would be required to make a significant offer to prise him away. Discussions are yet to take place between Rangers chiefs and Raskin's representatives, but they are in the offing. It is believed the Belgium international is happy at Ibrox and keen to prolong his stay.
