Speaking about the transition into a genre she has long admired, Aadhya says the experience pushed her creatively in ways she hadn't encountered before. She shares, 'Psychological thrillers have always been one of my favourite genres to watch, so getting the opportunity to be part of one was both exciting and creatively challenging. It pushed me out of my comfort zone and opened up new doors in terms of exploring my emotional range.'
In Knock Knock Kaun Hai?, she plays Tanya Arora — a character marked by emotional conflict and high personal stakes. Stepping into her shoes meant moving beyond surface-level performance and committing fully to the inner world of the role. She explains, 'There's a certain depth and complexity in this genre. Every scene demands complete emotional honesty. It's not just about memorising lines — it's about diving deep into the psyche of your character. I had to spend a lot of time understanding her motivations, fears, and internal conflicts. Every moment on screen had to carry weight.'
While the project allowed her to grow as a performer, it came with its share of emotional and physical strain. The intensity of the material made it difficult to detach from the character once the cameras stopped rolling. 'There were scenes that demanded intense emotional investment, and that didn't just stay on set. There were days I'd feel mentally dazed or emotionally heavy even after wrap-up because of how deeply I had to tap into raw spaces,' she shares.
Tanya's journey also involved physical exertion — something Aadhya hadn't dealt with to this extent in earlier roles. She says, 'My character constantly fights for what she wants, and that physicality led to a few injuries on set too. But when you're in the moment, you don't realise it until it's over.'
Perhaps the most enduring impact, she notes, came from the emotional fatigue that builds up when living inside such a demanding role day after day. 'Pouring so much into a scene, then doing multiple takes — it drains you. And there's barely any recovery time before you're back on camera,' she shares.
For Aadhya, who has often portrayed softer, more restrained characters, stepping into Tanya's world felt like entering uncharted territory. But instead of resisting the challenge, she embraced the chance to redefine her on-screen image. 'I'd always done the shy, innocent type. This was a stark contrast. It challenged me to break old patterns and explore a very different side of myself as a performer,' she says, adding, 'But that's the beauty of acting — it demands hard work and complete surrender.'

Playing Farzaan has been an overwhelming experience, but mostly enriching and a learning process. I believe learning is constant, and working with such an esteemed set of professionals just motivates you to give it your all and work harder. What can you tell us about your character in Knock Knock Kaun Hai and what made you say yes to this role? The character arc and how vital it was. I knew I wanted something like this, where my character either conveys an important message or brings a drastic change in the story. Also, the chills, I'll never forget it. On the reading day, I was ecstatic. The mystery of Knock Knock was lovely. You're starring opposite Aadhya Anand in this project. How was the experience working with her and what kind of dynamic can we expect between your characters? Working with Aadhya was extremely fun as she brought a lot of light on the set. Working on a long format brings the entire cast and crew closer together, which helps build the project strongly. She has been of great help. I will always acknowledge and remember her guidance. You can watch the show to see how the chemistry fits in. You also have a part in Metro… In Dino, a film that already has a lot of buzz. Can you share a bit about your role and what excites you the most about being part of this ensemble? My character is a working corporate executive. Managing work & relationships and making sure he gives it all in what he's got to do. The storyline I am involved in revolves primarily around Sara Ali Khan and Aditya Roy Kapur. Working with this starcast and getting a chance to meet and speak to them, is all what excited me initially if I'm being honest. How was it working with Aditya Roy Kapur and Sara Ali Khan? It was a great experience because I got to learn a lot about the process of making films and what goes into understanding them. They are extremely humble human beings and it was a joy sharing the screen with them. Did you even fear being overshadowed by the cast of Metro…In Dino? Never did a thought come in my mind about being overshadowed by the star cast of Metro In Dino, they are extremely talented actors of our country and I have only had a beautiful experience with them. I feel my journey has just begun. I only have to learn and never did I get any such thought coming into my mind. What do you look for in a script or character before saying yes to a project? I look for ideas to discover more sides into the shade of a character. The character must speak to me like it's calling out to me. It challenges me to learn more about the craft. A good dynamic. Maybe a twist. A curve in the story. Maybe portraying an important message across. They are very different mediums. Long-form shows are more in-depth as the days are longer. In films, the days are shorter. There's more to the story in shows. I love both the platforms. I'd love to discover it more to have an opinion on them. Actor Amruta Subhash recently recalled how she once faced colourism in school, which made her believe that she 'wasn't beautiful.' She recalled a dance teacher in her school rejected her from the dance group over not having 'light skin and light eyes.' Amruta admitted that during her initial struggle in her acting career, she used to believe that 'only fair women will become actors.'advertisementThe actor opened up about the colour bias she faced in her high-school days and even asked her mother to make her beautiful so that she could appear in a dance audition.
