Another Australian is arrested in Bali after he was allegedly caught smuggling drugs into the country
An Australian man could spend the rest of his life in jail after he was allegedly caught smuggling 104g of marijuana into Bali.
The 40-year-old was arrested in Denpasar last Thursday after a tip-off from an Indian national who was allegedly found with 600g of marijuana at Bali's international airport.
Police allegedly found the drugs as they raided his room while a Kazakhstan and US national were also arrested.
In Indonesia, Marijuana is a Class 1 narcotic which is the same category as heroin, cocaine, methamphetamine, LSD, and MDMA.
If the Aussie man is charged and convicted with drug trafficking he could be sent to jail for life and if he's charged with possession, he could face 12 years in prison.
The police haven't yet named the Aussie but he was the second Australian to be arrested in Bali for alleged drug possession within a week.
On May 22, Lamar Ahchee was arrested in Canggu for allegedly trafficking 1.8kg of cocaine, worth $1.1million, into Indonesia.
Police alleged the Cairns man, who is the son of former Queensland senior constable Les Ahchee, picked up two parcels with cocaine concealed in chocolate boxes.
He was allegedly offered 50m Indonesian rupiah, the equivalent of $A4,700, from a unknown person in England known only as 'Boss', to collect and supply the drugs.
Ahchee admitted he was a drug addict but rejected being a dealer and claimed he was 'framed'.
Ahchee allegedly tested positive for drugs while in custody.
His lawyer Edward Pangkahila said Ahchee denied any involvement in drug trafficking.
'He's telling me that honestly, he doesn't know what was inside. We're still looking for that somebody who tell him to take this package,' Pangkahila said.
'The police have to find this guy.'
He has not been charged but has been in custody since he was arrested and if he's found guilty, he could get the death penalty.
Police will host a press conference regarding the most recent arrest on Thursday, July 5.

Beauty and the Geek star forced to deny she is involved in grisly murder case
Beauty and the Geek star, Kiera Johnstone, has taken to social media, refuting allegations she is involved in a murder case, which was reported in Australia last week The winner of dating show, Beauty and the Geek, has vehemently denied her involvement in a grisly murder in New South Wales, Australia. Kiera Johnstone, 26, who appeared on the Australian version of the series in 2021, insisted she has nothing to do with the shocking case after reports surfaced on Friday that a woman who starred in the reality TV show had been charged with a murder in Port Lincoln. A man's body was discovered in a home in the coastal town in Australia after emergency services were called to a property at about 3:25pm local time on Thursday following reports of a small fire. When crews arrived, they found a man dead inside the residence. A 34-year-old woman was arrested at the scene and later charged with murder. A suppression order preventing the publication of any information that could identify the woman, the victim, or the specific details surrounding the man's death was issued. However, after the news broke, speculation surfaced online attempting to link Keira with allegations stemming from the police report. Telling her followers there were rumours she had been involved in the murder for "reasons beyond my understanding", the reality star took to her Instagram Stories today. Insisting she wanted to be "absolutely clear", Keira said: "Hi everyone. A former contestant from Beauty and the Geek has been charged with a very serious crime. "Although no names have been released, for reasons beyond my understanding, there has been speculation online suggesting that I am involved. "Let me be absolutely clear: I am not involved in any way. I have not been charged with a crime. I have literally never even had a parking fine. The allegations being discussed have nothing to with me, and the fact that I even need to says this is incredibly upsetting. "It's deeply disturbing to see people spreading false information, making assumptions and sharing screenshots. I understand the internet can be quick to judge, but this kind of speculation is damaging and invasive and is something I take very seriously." Asking anyone 'fuelling the gossip' to "please stop", she continued: "If you are part of the group fuelling this - sharing, gossiping or silently watching - I ask you to please stop. "This is not entertainment. This is a serious situation, that involves real victims. you're literally sick if you think this is at all funny. "As this has nothing to do with me, this will be the only time I speak on the matter. Thank you to those who reached out with kindness and common sense." It comes after The Courier Mail reported on Friday that the woman arrested for the alleged murder was once a contestant on reality show Beauty and the Geek. South Australia Police have confirmed the victim and the accused knew each other and had been in a relationship. The woman was refused police bail and remains in custody. Assistant Commissioner Parrott said a cause of death had not yet been established and no further details could be released, as the victim's family had not yet been notified. The woman did not apply for bail and has been detained under the Mental Health Act. She is expected to return to court in December. The suppression order regarding the accused's identity is set to be reviewed by the court next week.

Irish national arrested after cocaine worth €110m seized on yacht off Portugal
An Irish national is among three people held after Portuguese police and military personnel intercepted a yacht with more than 1.5 tonnes of cocaine on board off the Azores. Two Danish men were also arrested after 1,660kg of the class-A drug with a potential street value of about €110 million were discovered on the 11-metre vessel. Advertisement All three were on Saturday in Sao Miguel Prison in the Azores archipelago capital Ponta Delgada after being remanded behind bars by a judge following their first court appearance on Friday. Portuguese police also confirmed on Friday that their Spanish counterparts had held the suspected leader of the criminal gang in a 'parallel' operation thought to have taken place on the Costa del Sol. A taser gun and €63,000 in cash were seized following the arrest. The man's nationality has not been officially revealed but he is believed to be Danish. The operation that led to the high-seas cocaine bust was codenamed Operation Vikings. Advertisement A spokesman for Portugal's Policia Judiciaria police force described the three men held off the Azores in an official statement as 'foreigners' but a well-placed source confirmed today they included an Irish national. The Policia Judiciaria also said Irish authorities had assisted them. In the lengthy statement, the Portuguese police force said: 'With the support of the Portuguese Navy, we launched an operation to combat international drug trafficking by sea. 'A sailing boat around 11 metres long was intercepted off the western group of the Azores archipelago as it crossed the Atlantic Ocean between South America and Europe with around 1,666kg of cocaine on board. Advertisement 'Operation Vikings is the result of a complex investigation that has taken place over the last two years, aimed at dismantling an international criminal organisation with transcontinental operations specialising in bringing large quantities of cocaine to the European continent and using our country as a platform to this end. 'Due to poor safety and seaworthiness conditions the three crew members of the sailboat, who have since been arrested by the PJ, were taken along with the narcotics to a ship belonging to the Portuguese Navy which deployed a wide range of resources involving more than 50 military personnel. The Policia Judiciaria added in its statement: 'Given the complexity of the operation, the Portuguese Air Force, the Maritime Analysis and Operations Centre-Narcotics (MAOC-N), the Ponta Delgada Maritime Police and the Ponta Delgada Port Authority all took part in the investigation. 'Likewise, given the nationality of the suspects and the geographical dispersion of their activities, the assistance provided by foreign counterparts in the context of international police co-operation, in particular the Spanish National Police, the US Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), the Danish National Special Crimes Unit (NSK Danish Police) and the French and Irish authorities, was also relevant. Advertisement "The three detainees on the intercepted and seized vessel, foreigners aged between 43 and 51, have appeared in court in Ponta Delgada Court for initial questioning and been remanded in custody. 'As part of a parallel investigation in Spain targeting the same criminal organization, the Spanish National Police through its elite organised crime-fighting Greco Costa del Sol unit and acting in conjunction with Portuguese police, arrested a man believed to be the leader of the organisation. 'Officers seized €63,000 in cash, a GPS device, a taser gun, numerous pieces of computer and communications equipment, some of which was encrypted, as well as an unspecified amount of foreign currency from his home.' None of the four suspects held on the boat and during the mainland Spain raid have been named. Advertisement In March last year 840kg of cocaine said at the time to have a potential street value of over €58 million washed up off a number of beaches in Denmark. It later transpired the drug haul was destined for Ireland, with reports at the time referencing links to a suspected drug trafficking operation in west Cork following a string of gardai arrests. World Former assistant says Sean 'Diddy' Combs was 'extr... Read More Three men, two from Spain and one with an address in Serbia who had been arrested in March last year, pleaded guilty at the non-jury Special Criminal Court in April to conspiring to bring drugs into Ireland. They had been scheduled to appear at the three-judge court again earlier this week, although it was not immediately clear today if the hearing had gone ahead. It is not known if the Portuguese police operation is linked in any way. Although local reports in Portugal have put the estimated street value of the drugs at around €64 million, their value in Ireland is believed to be closer to the €110 million mark.

Shock details emerge about an Aussie man's alleged cocaine 'dead drop' worth $9.7million
From a parked van near an inner-city reserve, a man retrieves a sports bag he allegedly believes contains cocaine worth millions. It's called a 'dead drop' - with a long history of use in espionage - but unfortunately for the guy who came to collect the package on Friday in Sydney, he was on the wrong side of the intelligence gathering. Australian Federal Police had already replaced the 30kg of wrapped cocaine bricks inside the bag. The amount of drugs had a potential street value of almost $9.7million and would have equated to about 150,000 street level deals, the force said. Officers then arrested their suspect at the end of a foot chase following his return with the goods to the city's salubrious eastern suburbs. Police said they seized the fake cocaine along with encrypted devices and anabolic steroids from his Double Bay home and a nearby unit. Officers were operating undercover, wearing bright orange hi-vis work wear to appear to be tradies, The Daily Telegraph reported. Jonathan Lindsay Fagan, 40, has swapped the prestige postcode for a jail cell after declining to apply for bail in Parramatta Local Court on Saturday. He has been charged with attempting to possess a commercial quantity of unlawfully imported border controlled drugs, which can carry a lifetime prison sentence. The case returns to court on Tuesday. The arrest came after a three-month AFP investigation into an alleged transnational drug trafficking syndicate operating in Australia. The inquiry had disrupted the group's operations, Detective Superintendent Morgen Blunden said. 'This result should serve as a serious warning to potential drug traffickers in Australia - don't get comfortable - because the AFP is constantly working to target and disrupt your criminal operations and bring you to justice.' Friday's operation came a day after another man flew in to Sydney from Dubai allegedly carrying more than 10kg of cocaine in a suitcase.
