SAMPDORIA are reportedly set for a miracle survival from being relegated to Serie C.
The Italian outfit was once one of the biggest clubs in the country and was beaten in the Champions League final by Barcelona in 1992.

Sampdoria have since fallen from the top of the game to mid-table mediocrity to relegation from Serie A in 2023.
The club were expected to bounce back to the top-flight in Italy but finished 7th in their first season in the second tier.
It then got even worse for the club as they finished last season 18th and in the automatic relegation spots.
They were then given hope as Brescia went bust and took their relegation spot and Sampdoria were put into a play-off against Salernitana.
Sampdoria now look set to stay in Serie B after the second leg of the tie was abandoned.
Alberico Evani's were 4-0 up on aggregate and 2-0 up on the night before Salernitana fans got the game called off by throwing flares.
police attempted to restore order in the stands.
The official did attempt to restart the match, but more objects were thrown, which led to the abandonment.

Salernitana would have survived if they had drawn the tie as they finished higher in the table.
Italian media now believe that Sampdoria will be awarded a 3-0 win due to the circumstances.
This means they would win the play-off tie 5-0 on aggregate and escape a first-ever relegation to Serie C.
The match had originally been expected to take place on Friday but was postponed.
This was due to an outbreak of food poisoning among the Salernitana camp.
21 members of the club fell ill after the first leg was lost 2-0 at the Luigi Ferraris Stadium in Genoa.
Sampdoria appear to believe that they will be playing in Serie B next season.
After the game, the team posted a celebratory picture on social media with the message: "Mission accomplished."

All of Celtic's EIGHT Japanese Bhoys rated as Brendan Rodgers plots another two transfers

Celtic have raided the Japanese transfer market with varying degrees of success over the years All of Celtic's EIGHT Japanese Bhoys rated as Brendan Rodgers plots another two transfers CELTIC have returned to Japan to target two new signings this summer. SunSport revealed on Sunday the Hoops are eager to land £1.5million-rated Kawasaki Frontale striker Shin Yamada. They'd take arrivals from The Land of the Rising Sun to no fewer than TEN stars in the past 20 years. Advertisement Here SunSport looks back on the stars who were big in Japan - and judges whether they also made it in Glasgow. Shunsuke Nakamura The trailblazing midfield genius was the first Japanese star to play for Celtic after Gordon Strachan brought him from Reggina in 2005. Capped 98 times by his country, Naka won three league titles, one Scottish Cup and two League Cups. And he scored a wonderful free-kick to beat Manchester United in the Champions League at Parkhead. Boss Strachan said: 'If I'm lucky to be here in 25 or 30 years' time I will still be thinking about Shunsuke Nakamura.' Advertisement Rating: 9 Koki Mizuno After the success of Nakamura, Celts signed Japan international winger Mizuno from JEF United in 2008. Ex-Celtic coach Eric Black on the Cup exit that rocked Scottish football plus life with Lubo and Dr Jo Strachan spoke on the player's behalf at a work permit appeal - but he failed to make a major impact and left after only a handful of appearances. Mizuno made his league debut in a win over Motherwell and earned a first start against Falkirk, scoring in the last minute after a pass from Nakamura. The highlight of his Hoops career was a festive win over Rangers at Ibrox when he started as Aiden McGeady served a club suspension. Advertisement Rating: 3 Kyogo Furuhashi The shining light of the Ange Postecoglou era, strike star Kyogo arrived from Vissel Kobe in 2021 after starring in the J-League. He made an instant impact for the Hoops, scoring twice against Hibs at Hampden in the League Cup final. He repeated the feat against Rangers in the 2023 final and also slammed home goals in Europe and in the Premiership. By the time he left for Rennes in January, he'd been honoured as Scotland's Player of the Year and won nine domestic honours. Advertisement Rating: 9 Reo Hatate The midfield marvel has already won four league titles, two Scottish Cups and two League Cups with the Hoops. Hatate was signed by Postecoglou from Kawasaki Frontale - the same club as Yamada - in the Aussie's first winter transfer window. He made such an impact for Celts that he was handed a new five-year contract in September 2023 and has now broken into Japan's World Cup plans. He missed the end of last season - and the Scottish Cup final defeat - due to injury and is earning admiring glances from the continent. Maeda had played for Postecoglou at Yokohama F Marinos and was another Japanese international to settle straight away into Scotland. He's been targeted by Fenerbahce this summer but Brendan Rodgers is an enormous admirer and it would take a massive bid to move the attacker. 7 Ideguchi made just four appearances for Celtic Credit: Kenny Ramsay Advertisement 7 Hatate has won eight trophies with Celtic Credit: Kenny Ramsay 7 Kobayashi never got going at Celtic Credit: Willie Vass 7 Kyogo enjoyed a glittering three-and-a-half year career at Celtic Park Credit: Getty He's been targeted by Fenerbahce this summer but Brendan Rodgers is an enormous admirer and it would take a massive bid to move the attacker. He has also vowed to return next season to beat last season's goal tally and make up for the pain of the Cup final defeat. Advertisement Rating: 9 Yosuke Ideguchi With experience of British football after a spell at Leeds United, the international midfielder looked an astute signing when he arrived from Gamba Osaka in 2022. Ideguchi made his league debut in a home win over Hibs before being crocked in a Scottish Cup victory over Alloa at the Indodrill. He would make just four more appearances for Celts before being shipped out on a loan to Avispa Fukuoka. Now plays for Vissel Kobe in his homeland. Advertisement Rating: 2 Yuki Kobayashi Like Ideguchi, centre-back Kobayashi showed promise when he first arrived in January 2023 from Vissel Kobe. He made just seven appearances for the Hoops - starting a 3-0 Old Firm defeat to Rangers at Ibrox and 4-2 loss to Hibs at Easter Road. The Under-20 cap was moved out to Portimonense in Portugal after failing to convince Rodgers he was worth a place in last season's Double-winning squad. Rating: 3 Advertisement Tomoki Iwata The Japanese international originally arrived at Parkhead in a loan deal from Yokohama F Marinos before it was made permanent. Originally viewed as a midfield holder, Iwata started the 2023 Scottish Cup final win over Inverness Caley Thistle at centre-back. Chris Davies, who worked as No2 to both Postecoglou and Rodgers, swooped to sign him for Birmingham City last season and he became an integral part of the side which won the SkyBet League One title. Everton flop Moise Kean has already given reason to snub Man Utd transfer

Manchester United have been linked with ex-Everton striker Moise Kean, who enjoyed a prolific first season with Fiorentina during which he scored 25 goals across all competitions Everton flop Moise Kean has emerged a surprise transfer target for Manchester United. Kean's ill-fated £27.5million move to Everton in 2019 ultimately saw him spend more time out on loan than playing for the Toffees over a disappointing four-year spell. The striker only scored four goals in 37 appearances for Everton, resulting in him rejoining Juventus on a permanent basis in 2023 after an initial two-year loan. Now at Fiorentina, Kean has finally put his Goodison Park woes behind him and rekindled his career. ‌ Fiorentina paid just £11m for the Italian in what's proven to be a bargain transfer deal. Kean, 26, finished his first season playing for La Viola with 25 goals in 44 appearances. ‌ The former Paris Saint-Germain loanee helped Fiorentina reach the Conference League semi-finals and qualify for Europe by finishing sixth in Serie A. His prolific form has prompted links of a move to United, who are looking for a new striker. In good news for Ruben Amorim, Kean has a release clause of £44.5m which is active between July 1 and 15. Although paying the fee is cut and dry, convincing the 26-year-old to return to England after a troublesome time on and off the pitch could be difficult. During an interview with the Athletic last season, Kean revealed how much he disliked the weather in the north west of England. "They were so used to not seeing the sun, they were barbecuing on the beach in winter," the Juventus academy product recalled. "They were in short sleeves in winter. I said to myself: 'These people are out of their minds'." Kean is still grateful for the experience, adding: "England made me learn a lot about myself. I matured a lot. When I got there I didn't play much. I used to think, 'How am I not getting into this team, at Everton?" Should Moise Kean give the English weather another chance? Have your say in the comments section. ‌ "Mentally, it made me evolve. I wasn't playing and it was in dark times that I knew I had to grit my teeth and train even more. Then the chance to go to PSG came along, I moved there and got everything out of myself that I could. I wasn't playing at Everton and I knew I had to give triple, that's how it went." United aren't the only club to have been linked with Kean, who's under contract at Fiorentina until 2029. Saudi Arabian side Al-Qadsiah are said to also be interested, with his release active for the first 15 days of July every year.

Bayern Munich ‘ready to HIJACK Chelsea's transfer for Jamie Gittens' after Blues agreed contract with Dortmund star, 20

SunSport revealed earlier this month that the Blues were keen on adding the England Under-21 international to their squad this summer and had already agreed a seven-year deal with him. However, German giants Bayern have now thrown a huge spanner in the works. A report in KICKER claims Bayern have been monitoring the winger and made him a target after losing Florian Wirtz to Liverpool. The German side were also interested in Athletic Bilbao's Nico Williams, who now looks set to join Barcelona, making a winger a top priority on their summer transfer list. Already a key member of the Borussia Dortmund team, Bayern see Gittens as a perfect fit for their long-term plans. Chelsea fans will be left frustrated if the transfer collapses, especially after the club's move for the Dortmund star appeared all but done. Enzo Maresca's side are suddenly short of options on the wings, having decided against re-signing Jadon Sancho. They have also been hit with the shock news of Mykhailo Mudryk's doping charge which leaves the Ukrainian in limbo and means they must act quickly in the transfer window. BEST ONLINE CASINOS - TOP SITES IN THE UK The Blues finished the season strongly, securing fourth place in the Premier League, a return to Champions League football and a Europa Conference League title. The return to Europe's top competition is massive for the club both financially and in terms of attracting top transfer targets. Chelsea star Mudryk's charge is a shock but not a surprise But Bayern Munich historically manage to sign most Bundesliga stars they pursue. Gittens is reportedly still keen on a move to Chelsea — provided they meet his £60million valuation. 4 TRANSFER NEWS LIVE - KEEP UP WITH ALL THE LATEST FROM A BUSY SUMMER WINDOW
