THIS is the nerve-racking moment a huge 20ft shark emerges from the water before stalking a tiny boat - bringing to mind classic thriller Jaws.
Tense footage showed the humongous beast lurking behind the small vessel in a pond on Block Island as it came dangerously close to two passengers.

The video was captured in Rhode Island by local Jen Seebeck who was eating at the Dead Eye Dicks restaurant by Great Salt Pond when she spotted the enormous dorsal, The Atlantic Shark Institute reported.
The boat was seen slowly drifting towards the edge of the lake, while two dark shapes appeared to rise from the water.
The two fins could easily have been mistaken for two separate sharks, due to the distance between the pair.
But shockingly, they were actually part of the same beast - representing the top fin and tail of the 20ft predator.
The boat carrying two passengers then started to speed away, possibly following the crew's sudden realisation.
The nailbiting scene has sparked comparisons to the classic film Jaws - which is celebrating its 50th anniversary.
One person even referenced Steven Spielberg's shark thriller in the video, as they shouted: 'There's a shark in the pond!'
It is currently unclear what exact species the nimble shark captured in the footage is.
The Atlantic Shark Institute said: "Sharks are arriving in Rhode Island daily as water temperatures continue to rise and more and more species of shark find them suitable to their liking.
'Hopefully this shark will find its way out of Great Salt Pond soon and continue on its way!'
Huge 12 meter basking shark spotted off the beaches of Marbella
Block Island has recently been named one of the 10 best summer destinations in the United States, according to USA Today.
It comes after another enormous shark was spotted dangerously near a beach in a popular Spanish tourist spot.
A viral video showed the colossal beast skulking around the waters just off the coast of Marbella.
And earlier this month, the biggest shark ever tagged by researchers was spotted prowling up the US east coast.
Known as "The Contender", the massive white shark was seen skulking around the North Carolina coast.
The behemoth was previously seen following the Gulf Stream south near Florida.
Weighing 1,600 pounds, the beast was first tagged on January 17 this year about 45 miles off the Florida-Georgia border.
It was the largest ever shark tagged by research group OCEARCH in the area.

Former Love Island winner Jess Harding hits out at 'b**chy' 2025 contestant
Jess Harding, who won ITV's Love Island back in 2023, has shared her thoughts on current contestant Antonia 'Toni' Laites - who has been causing drama in the villa Former Love Island winner Jess Harding has lashed out at one of the current contestants in a scathing social media post. The 2025 season of ITV's long-running reality dating show began earlier this month and 16 contestants are currently housed in the villa. But tensions have been bubbling between some of the contestants and 24-year-olds Antonia 'Toni' Laites and Emily Moran have clashed while taking part in the show. Viewers were startled to see Toni accuse Emily of sticking her nose in her business during a fiery exchange that aired on Friday night. Jess, 24 - who won Love Island in 2023 alongside then-boyfriend Sammy Root, 24 - was among those watching at home to take to social media to dissect the unsettling scenes. The reality star shared her shock at Toni's outburst against Emily. Siding with the British star, Jess accused American bombshell Toni of being "b**chy". In a message shared via Instagram stories, the star wrote: "Ok what the hell, just because someone isn't your cup of tea doesn't mean you can cause a big drama over it?!" Jess continued: "Toni girl I loved you but I don't like b****y behaviour & pulling crying behaviour." And she added: "Why can't the girls be 1 big group cos these men be acting CRAZY." On Friday night, fans saw tension escalate between Toni and Emily as the 2025 season endured one of its most dramatic arguments so far. Friction came to a head after the two ladies took a near instant dislike to each other after Emily entered the villa as a bombshell on day five. Toni's feather's were ruffled when she overheard a conversation between Emily and Irish contestant Conor Phillips, 25. The American bombshell then found a confidant in Shakira Khan, 22, who she shared her frustrations with. But Emily later accused Toni of talking behind her back, while fellow Islander Megan 'Meg' Moore, 25, warned Emily that Toni had branded her "nosey" and "Little Miss Sunshine." An almighty row erupted, with Emily despairing that Toni was "just trying to cause a problem," and "she's f****g nuts." All the drama could be helping generate interest in the long-running show, however. While the 2025 season got off to a low viewership start when it launched on 9 June, the audience then reportedly grew by 1.7 million streams on ITVX after the first episode aired. Some past contestants have started campaigning for the series to be axed, however, and the show has a long history of being tied to the tragic mental health declines of past contestants. This weekend, Malin Andersson, who starred on the show in 2016, voiced her concerns about the way the series is made. She told The Mirror: "It should be axed. When I was on it, we were naive, it felt more organic – still scripted but more authentic. Even then, it wasn't pure, it was full of toxicity. Now millions watch it, especially young people, and their idea of love gets completely skewed." She added: "I felt disposable, like a piece of rubbish tossed aside. In there, you're fighting to be seen, to be a main character, seeking validation. It's not healthy – it creates unrealistic drama and messes up how viewers see love." Love Island has come under fire in the past for failing to support contestant that take part in the series - however, strict after care rules were introduced in 2019 after the deaths of former contestants Sophie Gradon and Mike Thalassitis.

Beauty and the Geek star forced to deny she is involved in grisly murder case
Beauty and the Geek star, Kiera Johnstone, has taken to social media, refuting allegations she is involved in a murder case, which was reported in Australia last week The winner of dating show, Beauty and the Geek, has vehemently denied her involvement in a grisly murder in New South Wales, Australia. Kiera Johnstone, 26, who appeared on the Australian version of the series in 2021, insisted she has nothing to do with the shocking case after reports surfaced on Friday that a woman who starred in the reality TV show had been charged with a murder in Port Lincoln. A man's body was discovered in a home in the coastal town in Australia after emergency services were called to a property at about 3:25pm local time on Thursday following reports of a small fire. When crews arrived, they found a man dead inside the residence. A 34-year-old woman was arrested at the scene and later charged with murder. A suppression order preventing the publication of any information that could identify the woman, the victim, or the specific details surrounding the man's death was issued. However, after the news broke, speculation surfaced online attempting to link Keira with allegations stemming from the police report. Telling her followers there were rumours she had been involved in the murder for "reasons beyond my understanding", the reality star took to her Instagram Stories today. Insisting she wanted to be "absolutely clear", Keira said: "Hi everyone. A former contestant from Beauty and the Geek has been charged with a very serious crime. "Although no names have been released, for reasons beyond my understanding, there has been speculation online suggesting that I am involved. "Let me be absolutely clear: I am not involved in any way. I have not been charged with a crime. I have literally never even had a parking fine. The allegations being discussed have nothing to with me, and the fact that I even need to says this is incredibly upsetting. "It's deeply disturbing to see people spreading false information, making assumptions and sharing screenshots. I understand the internet can be quick to judge, but this kind of speculation is damaging and invasive and is something I take very seriously." Asking anyone 'fuelling the gossip' to "please stop", she continued: "If you are part of the group fuelling this - sharing, gossiping or silently watching - I ask you to please stop. "This is not entertainment. This is a serious situation, that involves real victims. you're literally sick if you think this is at all funny. "As this has nothing to do with me, this will be the only time I speak on the matter. Thank you to those who reached out with kindness and common sense." It comes after The Courier Mail reported on Friday that the woman arrested for the alleged murder was once a contestant on reality show Beauty and the Geek. South Australia Police have confirmed the victim and the accused knew each other and had been in a relationship. The woman was refused police bail and remains in custody. Assistant Commissioner Parrott said a cause of death had not yet been established and no further details could be released, as the victim's family had not yet been notified. The woman did not apply for bail and has been detained under the Mental Health Act. She is expected to return to court in December. The suppression order regarding the accused's identity is set to be reviewed by the court next week.
