Katy Perry Reportedly 'Doesn't Want To Give Up' On Her Relationship With Orlando Bloom Amid 'Rough Patch'

Yahoo5 hours ago

Katy Perry is still hopeful that her relationship with Orlando Bloom won't end despite hitting a "rough patch."
According to reports, the pop star "doesn't want to just give up" and is set to have a heart-to-heart conversation with the actor when she takes a break from her Lifetimes Tour. Distance reportedly contributed to their "rough patch," particularly her ongoing tour and other "work commitments."
Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom have been dating for nearly a decade and share a four-year-old daughter, Daisy.
Earlier in the month, rumors swirled that Perry and Bloom had hit a "rough patch" in their nearly decade-long relationship.
According to reports at the time, the pop star had grown deeply frustrated with her album being critically panned. It was also claimed that they had grown apart and were no longer living the same lives.
Despite speculation that the duo might be ready to call things off for good, a source has revealed that there is still hope for Bloom and Perry's romance to survive.
"No one has decided it's definitely the end of the road for Katy and Orlando," the insider told The Sun, adding that they "both love each other."
What's more, Perry "doesn't want to just give up" on the relationship, seemingly due to the fact that they have been together for so long and also share a daughter, Daisy.
Currently, Perry is on the Australian leg of her Lifetimes Tour, after she last hit the road in 2018.
While the tour has definitely placed the singer back in the limelight, the source said it has caused the "biggest disruption" to what she shared with Bloom due to the extensive preparation, rehearsals, and travel that have gone into it.
"Katy and Orlando have been disconnected for a while now, and with their work commitments, have been living separate lives," the insider further shared about the situation between the engaged couple.
"They have barely been together for a decent amount of time, without distractions, for many, many months," the source added. "It has been 'go, go, go' and they thrived when they enjoyed a more settled life, being together in the same place for a length of time. But that has just not happened."
After performing in Adelaide, Australia, on June 30, Perry will go on a break until her July 10 date in Denver, Colorado.
During this break, she will reportedly "reunite" with Bloom and have a heart-to-heart conversation that will either make or break their romance.
"The plan is for them to reunite over the July 4 break. She has mentioned jetting back from Australia to spend time with Orlando, Daisy, her sister Angela, and her kids," the insider noted.
Ahead of the outcome of the alleged talks, the "huge amount of love" between Perry and Bloom has sparked hope that they can "ride out this rough patch."
"Anyone in long-term relationships goes through challenges, and many times when things appear to be done, couples reconnect and make things work," added the source.
They continued, "The type of people they are, there still remains a lot of hope. Katy has never been happier in her life than with Orlando. If this reunion can revive those times, then they could come through this."
Previously, The Sun reported that Bloom "did not approve" of Perry's all-female trip to space on billionaire mogul Jeff Bezos' Blue Origin spacecraft.
A source who spoke with the news outlet claimed that the actor never thought "going on the mission was a good idea" and was "frustrated" and "disappointed" by her decision to embark on it nonetheless.
The insider went further to explain that Bloom "knew she would get backlash" from the mission, which is why he opposed it from the outset.
"From day one, Orlando didn't think going on the Blue Origin mission was a good idea, and knew she would face backlash," the source noted. "He always thought it was a stupid idea, and she wouldn't get anything positive out of it."

Woman Says Husband ‘Exploded' at Her After She Questioned Him About a Woman at the Supermarket — Wonders If He's Cheating

A woman says her husband 'exploded' in anger after she asked him a simple question about a woman who seemingly recognized him at the grocery store The woman says that the outburst was 'very upsetting' and 'very out of character' The woman shared her story on a popular community forum, and a lot of her fellow community members said this seems like red flag behaviorA woman says her husband 'exploded' at her in anger at the grocery store, and she is 'beyond confused and hurt.' The woman detailed her story on the 'Am I Being Unreasonable?' forum on the U.K.-based community site a place where women can go to seek advice from other women. In her post, the woman says that she and her husband have been together 'since childhood' and have 'no real marital issues.' However, she says that they were recently at the grocery store, where it looked like a woman in a nearby checkout aisle recognized her husband. She says that the woman appeared to try to wave at her husband, at which point he moved out of sight to a different part of the store. 'Just before leaving, she stopped and turned to look as if expecting someone to come over to her. Then she turned and left,' the original poster (OP) added. She continues, 'A minute later, [my husband] arrived back at the register. I finished up, and as we were leaving, [I] said, 'I think the lady on the next register knew you?' He replied, 'Yes.' I gave it a moment and then prompted, 'Work?' And he said, 'Yes.' ' Never miss a story — sign up for to stay up-to-date on the best of what PEOPLE has to offer, from celebrity news to compelling human interest stories. The OP says that she felt as though something was 'a bit off,' and so she asked her husband about the encounter one more time, at which point 'he exploded,' which she says is 'very unusual' for him. 'He said I was being jealous, does he have to give me her life story … he doesn't know her, doesn't speak to her [at] work, and all he knows is she's married to the boss's nephew.' She says he then told her he didn't want to go shopping in the first place 'on his day off,' and didn't want to get stuck making 'awkward conversation with a colleague.' 'This response felt out of the blue and was very upsetting,' the OP continued, adding that her husband opted not to join her for a family barbecue at her parents' that evening and 'ignored' her for the rest of the night. The OP admits that her husband was under a 'lot of stress' that day due to a plumbing 'disaster' at their home that morning that required a 'big fix,' and also said that he later apologized. However, she also says she is 'beyond hurt and confused,' and reiterated that the outburst was 'very out of character.' 'Thoughts would be appreciated,' she says at the end of her post. The PEOPLE Puzzler crossword is here! How quickly can you solve it? Play now! A number of the OP's fellow community members said they thought her husband's behavior seemed highly suspicious. 'You're the one who's married to him, and your senses are obviously telling you something. Getting angry often (though not always) means guilt,' one person said. 'Sorry but that's f------ weird — unless he's generally prone to similar behavior (and you say he isn't), then something is definitely off. The fact [that] he disappeared when he saw this woman and his explosive reaction to your question means he's hiding something,' someone else said. However, others thought that the OP was, in fact, overreacting, and that her husband was likely just stressed. 'I wouldn't say because a woman waved at him that [he's] having an affair. He knew her from work, barely, he had a stressful morning and the last thing you want [to do] is make small talk when you're in a mood,' one person said. Read the original article on People

Japan's high-tech sunscreens tap into skincare craze

When YouTuber Hannah Price set out to compare Japanese and Australian sunscreen, she wasn't expecting her deep dive into the subject to rack up over two million views. The huge number of people poring over Price's video shows the growing interest in skincare products from Japan, much like the K-beauty phenomenon from South Korea. It includes sun protection, increasingly recognised as a daily essential by influencers who want to shield their skin from ageing and enthuse about the lightweight texture of Japanese brands. Companies that have perfected their secret formulas want to capitalise on booming demand, including by building factories overseas and selling to Japan's record influx of foreign tourists. Price, 32, fell into a "year-long rabbit hole" while making her video, learning about everything from SPF science to cultural attitudes to sun exposure. "I always loved Japanese sunscreen, since I first moved to Japan in 2012," she told AFP at her studio in Tokyo. "I remember trying it for the first time and thinking, 'this is so much better than anything I tried in Australia'," her home country where sun cream felt "thick, sticky, greasy". "I thought that the video would be popular... but I wasn't expecting it to reach as far" as it did, Price said. The habit of regular sunscreen use is spreading, especially among younger generations, said Takuya Wada, who works in marketing for Japanese chemical and cosmetics firm Kao. "There are no borders when it comes to obtaining information on social media, especially Instagram and TikTok," he said, adding that influencer posts have a "very large" impact on global sunscreen sales. - 'Beautifully white' - The global skincare market was worth more than $115 billion in 2024 and is expected to grow to $194 billion by 2032, according to Fortune Business Insights. A boom in celebrity skincare brands has contributed to the industry's growth -- with A-listers like Kylie Jenner using social media to share their beauty routines, including sun protection, with hundreds of millions of followers. When it comes to sunscreen, country-specific regulations mean no single company dominates the field, as the entry barriers to new markets are higher. Kao's main sunscreen brand Biore UV is ranked 10th worldwide for sales, and second in Asia -- competing with the likes of L'Oreal and Beiersdorf, and Japanese rivals such as Shiseido. The company wants sales from sun protection to reach 35 billion yen ($240 million) in 2027, up 1.6 times from 2023. It plans to boost overseas production by opening three new sunscreen factories, in Indonesia, Brazil and Germany. It is technically difficult to develop formulas that block the rays effectively with a smooth texture, as demanded by Japanese consumers, said Takashi Fukui, research and development director for Kao skincare products. But using scientific know-how to strike this tricky balance is what makes Kao "different from other European or American makers". In Japan, a cultural obsession with light skin dates back to the sixth century and using white powder imported from China later became a status symbol among nobility. Fair skin indicated a life away from outdoor labour and sun exposure, and an old Japanese proverb says "white skin covers the seven flaws". In the 1990s, people began using sunscreen or other cosmetics to avoid tanning -- a trend dubbed "bihaku", or beautifully white. These days, Japanese women use sunscreen as everyday protection against sunspots and ageing, caused when UV rays penetrate into the skin, said Fukui. - Winter sun - Tans have long been fashionable in Western countries, but awareness of skin cancer risks is rising, making sunscreen an important healthcare product there, Fukui said. One fan of Japanese brands is Thai skincare influencer Suari Tasanakulpan, who calls them "lightweight" compared to "heavy and uncomfortable" Western offerings. "There are always new technologies and innovative textures that are often ahead of other countries," the 40-year-old, who reviews sunscreens on YouTube, told AFP. At an outlet of drugstore chain MatsukiyoCocokara in Tokyo's Shibuya district, around 90 sunscreen products are lined up on the shelves. "Sales of sunscreen is improving year on year," said Takeshi Otsuki, deputy manager of the chain's cosmetic division. "More people are using sunscreen on a daily basis these days, so their needs are becoming more diverse," he said. The number of male customers is also increasing, and Japanese sunscreens are very popular with overseas tourists who buy them in multipacks, Otsuki said. While summer is high season, sunscreen is popular year-round, because Japan has a "relatively high number of sunny days in the winter, and the sunlight hours are long". YouTuber Price now uses both Japanese and Australian sunscreen, depending on the occasion. She sees the rise in education about sunscreens worldwide as a win-win situation. It "means you're going to be better protected in general, which is great for everyone", she said. nf/kaf/ecl/fox Error in retrieving data Sign in to access your portfolio Error in retrieving data Error in retrieving data Error in retrieving data Error in retrieving data
