The Portuguese star has always been on top of the game, and at age 40, many wonder when he will stop. He continues to score goals and is still a key part of the Portuguese national team.
With many not anticipating Ronaldo to stay many more years in professional soccer, many still hope that he will actually decide to play alongside Messi for at least one game as a professional player.
Ahead of the UEFA Nations League Final tomorrow between Portugal and Spain, Ronaldo was asked for his thoughts on possibly playing alongside Messi in the near future. The hopeful part for many soccer fans is that he didn't completely shut the idea down.

When asked if he would ever see himself play with Messi despite both being near the end of their careers, Ronaldo simply praised the Argentine star and the country itself.
Cristiano Ronaldo: "You never know [playing with Messi] time is there, you know? I'm already 40 years old, but I always say: 'Never say never.' But I find it very difficult."
Cristiano Ronaldo: "Of course, I have affection for Messi. We've been on stage together for 15 years. I remember translating English for him at the Galas because he didn't speak English well. He always treated me well and respected me.'
Ronaldo also revealed having interest from Argentine clubs for the FIFA Club World Cup. Despite the respect and admiration for Argentina, he also mentions that it is almost certain he will not participate in the Club World Cup this month.
Ronaldo on Lamine Yamal
Ronaldo was also asked about the talent of Lamine Yamal. The Portuguese star admits to being impressed by the Spanish teenager and also wishes for the media to avoid pressuring the player.
Cristiano Ronaldo: "The kid is doing very well, taking advantage of his talents. Let the kid grow. Don't put too much pressure on him. Let him be and grow well, take the pressure off. He has no shortage of talent."

A big topic surrounding Yamal is the Ballon d'Or. The youngster is one of the favorites to win it this September, and many voters on undecided with Ousmane Dembele and Raphinha also being top contenders for the prestigious award.
Ronaldo gave his thoughts on the Ballon d'Or award and said that the Champions League is key to awarding the winner, which rules out Yamal in contention.
Cristiano Ronaldo: "For me, whoever wins the Ballon d'Or must be a player who won the Champions League. I think this award has lost its value.'

Caitlin Clark Assigns Blame After Fever's Loss to Valkyries

Caitlin Clark Assigns Blame After Fever's Loss to Valkyries originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Caitlin Clark had a forgettable outing on Thrusday night as the Indiana Fever suffered a disappointing 88-77 loss to the Golden State Valkyries. Advertisement The Fever star was held to just 11 points on 3-of-14 shooting, to go along with seven rebounds, nine assists, a steal and, for just the second time in her WNBA career, zero three-pointers. Clark also committed a team-high six turnovers in this one, which is one of the main issues the 23-year-old emphasized during her postgame press conference. 'I think we get these leads, we get up 10, we get up 12, and I thought that's where we really grew versus [the Connecticut Sun], we really took a step forward and kept our foot on the gas and built out our lead and got it up to 20,' Clark said, via Chloe Peterson of IndyStar. 'I thought we were kind of in the phase of not (giving up those leads) anymore. And then we got our lead to 12 (against the Valkyries), and then we kind of go on a stretch of turning the ball over… We got to be able to grow in that area.' Mandatory Credit: Darren Yamashita-Imagn Images As Clark said in her statement, it was Indiana's inability to take care of their lead that led to their downfall against Golden State. According to the reigning WNBA Rookie of the Year, this was brought about by the turnovers they committed, particularly during crucial stretches in the game. Advertisement The Fever entered the fourth quarter with a 59-55 lead, and it looked like they were primed to take their third straight win. The Valkyries, however, came out firing in the fourth, and ended up outscoring Indiana, 33-18, in the final frame. The silver lining here is that Clark and the Fever are well aware of the main issue that led to their loss on Thursday, which means that this is an area that they can focus on and improve at in their next games. Bayern Munich advances in the Club World Cup with 2-1 win over Boca Juniors

Associated Press MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. (AP) — Michael Olise fired Bayern Munich into the knockout stages of the Club World Cup, scoring in the 84th minute for a 2-1 win over Boca Juniors on Friday night. German champion Bayern made it two wins in Group C and advanced to the round of 16 with a game to spare. Olise secured the victory at Hard Rock Stadium after Miguel Merentiel had put Boca in position for a draw with a brilliant solo goal in the 66th. Bayern, which tops the group, took the lead on Harry Kane's clinical finish in the 18th and went on to miss of a slew of chances before Merentiel's equalizer. Key moment Bayern looked like it would be held until Olise's cool finish. Collecting Kane's layoff inside the box, the forward curled a powerful first-time effort low into the bottom corner. Takeaways Bayern has the luxury of resting players for its final group game against second-place Benfica on Tuesday, which could be bad news for Boca. Argentine giant Boca, which plays Auckland City, needs Bayern to beat Benfica to have any chance of advancing to the next round. What they said 'We knew it wasn't going to be easy, we knew we were coming into a hostile environment, hot weather, it was tough. It's a massive tournament. We are playing against the best teams in the world. We just have to compete to our highest level and we should be able to beat most teams.' — Kane. ___ James Robson is at ___ AP soccer: recommended

On Friday, as the Wings and Sun were matching up in Connecticut, things got slightly out of hand for rookie Paige Bueckers. The young star for Dallas picked up the first technical foul of her career. Bueckers pulled for a midrange shot on the baseline. Just after sinking in the shot, she turned to the referee and clapped, with the announcer mentioning that the rookie thought she got fouled during the play.
