June 6 first day of Eid Al-Adha, says Emirates Astronomy Society

Eid Al-Adha will coincide with Friday, June 6th, according to Ibrahim Al Jarwan, chairman of the Board of Directors of the Emirates Astronomy Society and a member of the Arab Union for Astronomy and Space Sciences.
Al Jarwan noted that official holidays are determined based on approvals from the Cabinet or decisions issued by relevant authorities.
It is expected that Eid Al-Adha holiday will last 4 days, starting from the Day of Arafah and including the 10th, 11th, and 12th of Dhul Hijjah.
In statements to Al Khaleej, he added that, based on the above, Wednesday, May 28th, will be the first day of Dhul Hijjah. Therefore, the Hajj season will begin on Wednesday, June 4th, when pilgrims will head to Mina after sunrise on the Day of Tarwiyah, spending the entire day and night there.
Thursday, June 5th, he added, will be the Day of Arafat, when pilgrims gather on Arafat. Friday June 6th, 2025, will be the Day of Sacrifice and Eid Al-Adha.

The initiative, launched in 2017, streamlines the arrival process for pilgrims from eight countries by conducting pre-travel immigration procedures. The bulletin reaffirmed previously released figures, stating that a total of 1,673,230 pilgrims performed Hajj this year. This included 1,506,576 foreign pilgrims arriving through various entry points and 166,654 domestic pilgrims, comprised of both Saudi citizens and residents. Out of the total pilgrim count, 877,841 were men and 795,389 were women. GASTAT said its data relies on administrative records from the Ministry of Interior, providing a high degree of reliability and accuracy. Dubai Police handle over 44K calls during Eid Al-Adha holiday

Dubai Police received a total of 44,102 calls during the Eid Al-Adha holiday, according to the Command and Control Centre and the Dubai Police Contact Centre (901). Out of the total, 40,808 calls were directed to the emergency hotline 999, while 3,294 calls were made to the non-emergency line 901. Colonel Bilal Jumaa Al Tayer, Director of the Command and Control Centre, praised the team's professionalism and fast response, highlighting their role in maintaining safety and order across the city. He reminded the public that 999 should only be used for emergencies and that general inquiries or minor issues should be reported through 901. Abdullah Ibrahim, Acting Director of the Customer Happiness Centre, shared that the 901 service also handled 919 emails and 144 live chats through the Dubai Police website. He added that trained staff are available through these digital services to provide quick, clear assistance and address questions or suggestions from residents.

Its overall aim is to support family stability and social cohesion by building supportive social systems that revive ancestral traditions and familiarise grandchildren with their heritage, especially in a time where technology draws children away from their roots. Bringing joy and a sense of community Al Naqbi noted that 'Caravan of Bayout Awal' seeks to restore the simple, joyful life of extended families and spread happiness throughout the neighbourhood. The primary participants are grandchildren who did not live in their grandparents' era. Between 4 pm and 6 pm, children exchanged traditional dishes and Eid greetings, recreating a cherished custom of the past. He also thanked the local residents for their enthusiasm, which brought back the warmth and close community spirit of ancestral times.
