George Pickens Could Be Cowboys' New Bob Hayes originally appeared on Athlon Sports.
When in doubt in the 1960-70s, the Dallas Cowboys told Bob Hayes simply to "go long." They have a similar weapon in 2025 with newly acquired George Pickens.

Hayes obviously benefitted with world-class speed that won him a gold medal in the 100-meter dash at the 1964 Tokyo Olympics and allowed him to lead the NFL twice in touchdowns and twice in yards per catch including a staggering 26.1 in 1970.
Pickens, acquired in a trade last month, doesn't possess Hayes' blinding speed. But he has proven to be one of the league's best deep threats.
According to Pro Football Focus, Pickens was the highest-graded receiver on go routes last season with a 95.6 mark, just edging out the Washington Commanders' Terry McLaurin and the Cowboys' CeeDee Lamb.
Not only did Pickens lead the league with 19 deep routes, but his 26% target clip was the highest on his route tree.

"He was the only receiver to record double-digit catches from go routes, securing 10 passes for 352 yards and a touchdown," PFF writes. "Pickens logged 36% of his receiving yardage (987 yards) on go routes last season, with each catch gaining 20-plus yards."
Over the last three seasons, Pickens leads the NFL with 48 go-route targets and 23 catches for 822 yards and three touchdowns.
While Hayes used his raw speed, Pickens' makes downfield catches using his size, athleticism, body control and elite hand-eye coordination.
The deep ball from Dak Prescott should be back in the playbook for the Cowboys this season.

Bill Belichick-Jordon Hudson drama revealed in new emails

Emails obtained by WRAL show Bill Belichick addressing the controversy over his romantic and professional relationship with Jordon Hudson. The relationship between the legendary coach and the 24-year-old model has drawn national scrutiny after a controversial "CBS Sunday Morning" interview. Hudson declared, "We're not talking about that" when Belichick was asked about how the couple met. Belichick claimed in one email that CBS "secretly" had a camera focused on Hudson despite the model requesting to sit off camera. "Secretly, CBS had a camera focused on Jordon where Lead producer Gabe instructed her to sit," Belichick reportedly wrote. Belichick elaborated on why the question of how they met was not answered. "I met Jordon randomly on a flight to Palm Beach in 2021. That is no secret. Jordon was not dodging the specific question regarding how we met, but rather was preventing the interview from continuing to probe into personal matters," the email said. Belichick also addressed why Hudson was present at the interview to begin with. He believed the interview would be focused on his book, "The Art of Winning: Lessons from a Life in Football." "Jordon was present at the CBS interview because David Kass, the Simon & Schuster publicist, was not there," Belichick wrote, referring to the publisher of his book. "I included Jordon in the book acknowledgments because she was a creative contributor to the book, including having the idea for formatting the 4 special pages in the book." In another email, Belichick addressed reports that he requested to have Hudson copied on every email sent to him. "Jordon and I have both a personal & professional relationship," Belchick wrote in the email. "This is not a secret. Jordon assists me with my personal media, which is why I asked UNC to forward media requests (E.G. CBS 60 Minutes) to her. Jordon has zero involvement in the UNC football program, beyond the degree that my personal media intersects with it." Belichick released a statement saying he was "surprised" about getting the questions about his relationship and that when Hudson had stepped in, she was doing her job. He went on to accuse CBS of creating a "false narrative" with so-called "selectively edited clips." CBS responded, disagreeing with Belichick's version of events. In a separate interview with ESPN, Belichick insisted Hudson is not involved with UNC football. Caitlin Clark Apologizes After Meeting With Kate Martin

Caitlin Clark Apologizes After Meeting With Kate Martin originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Following her return from a quad strain, Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever won two straight games, moving to above .500 to begin the 2025 WNBA season. Advertisement However, that came crashing down after Clark and the Fever fell to her former Iowa Hawkeyes teammate, Kate Martin, and the Golden State Valkyries 88-77 on Tuesday night. Clark and Martin had been teammates at Iowa from 2020 to 2024, becoming good friends in the process. The two have maintained their friendship throughout their WNBA careers, even after battling three times since last season. Before the game, Clark discussed a dinner she had with Martin the night before and apologized for her possible mispronunciation of the restaurant. "I went to dinner with Kate last night, so we went to Che Fico?" Clark asked. "I don't know if I'm pronouncing that right, so I apologize. But it was really good!" Clark had one of her worst shooting performances of the season, tallying 11 points on 3-of-14 shooting and 0-of-7 from distance, seven rebounds and nine assists. She also had six turnovers. Martin, on the other hand, recorded 20 minutes off the bench, notching nine points on 4-of-7 shooting and five rebounds. Clark and the Fever now drop to 6-6 on the season and have a long road trip ahead of them. They will get A'ja Wilson and the Las Vegas Aces on Sunday at 3:00 p.m. ET.
