A mom's tattoo of her young son's artwork has gone viral as people were left in awe at the tattoo artist's changes to the piece.
Tabitha, 36, an X-ray tech living in North Carolina, is mom to a 7-year-old son, Cannon, and proudly describes them both as being "a little odd" in the best way.
"He's got a great imagination, like most kids," Tabitha told Newsweek, and has a "charming" special place in his heart for pirates—in particular, the Disney movies Pirates of the Caribbean, the first of which was released in 2003.
Now, Tabitha has a permanent reminder of her young son's love for the pirates and for art, as she has got one of his drawings tattooed on her.
"He draws some pretty wild stuff, so I've been intending on getting all of my favorites [tattooed] on my legs," she explained. "I like them. They're interesting and weird and no one else will have them!
"His imagination will always be with me; it feels a little like I'm capturing and keeping this little bit of his childhood forever without having to keep boxes of papers and notebooks."
As of 2021, 12 percent of millennials in the United States reported having one tattoo, while 29 percent had multiple tattoos, according to data from Statista.
After Cannon drew an exciting battle scene with pirates on a ship, being rocked by waves and fighting off the tentacles of a giant sea monster, she took the piece to local tattoo artist Zach Crisp at Golden Spiral Tattoos in Greensboro, as she had always admired his color work, and asked for his help.

"Originally, I wanted the drawing to stay exactly the same, but just [to] have Zach's color work instead of Cannon's," she explained. "When we talked during the consult, Zach threw forward the idea [of] really letting the two styles contrast each other.
"I'm very flexible and not at all picky, so I told him that as long as we kept the same basic bones of it all, I'd be happy with whatever interpretation he could come up with, and I don't regret that; he did it beautifully."
Tabitha shared the final product to Reddit's Tattoos sub via her account u/yonderposerbreaks on June 10. And while the pirates and ship remained the exact same way the 7-year-old had drawn them, Crisp had transformed the tentacles and waves into something more professional, giving the piece a unique contrasting look.
Reddit users were impressed, awarding the post more than 15,000 upvotes, as one commenter wrote: "That's killer. Bravo to the artist for tweaking the right parts, and keeping the right parts."
"Amazing juxtaposition and blending of the child's drawing style vs the more 'polished' details," another agreed, as one said the artist "took the water and tentacles and made them pop, and seems to have kept all the rest very close to the original. Great job."
Tattoo artist Crisp told Newsweek: "I never copy designs, I always do my own interpretation. I just looked at this piece as a collaboration, [and] thought the contrast between the two would be cool. I draw with my children a lot so this was a fun piece for me!"
The finished product kept Cannon's drawings while polishing the waves and tentacles.

Young artist Cannon, too, was happy with the result, Tabitha told Newsweek. "He says that it's 'the best, and I'm super happy about it.'"
She admitted she was surprised by how popular her piece was on the Reddit sub, as many tattoo submissions appear to lean towards "artistic perfection" and "realistic" portraits.
"I figured mine would be ignored or that people would find it lame because 'kid drawing,' [but] it was surprising to see how many folks were digging the contrast of artistic styles," she said.
"Tattoos of kid stuff doesn't have to be boring. It's a collaborative effort between the minds of a burgeoning artist and a seasoned one; I'm just the lucky broad who gets to wear the result for the rest of my life!"

Dad Says His Teen Daughter 'Blew Up' at Him and Refuses to Talk After He ‘Embarrassed' Her at a Sleepover
A single dad says his teen daughter isn't speaking to him after he 'embarassed' her at a sleepover He explained that she broke one of the only two rules he gave her, so he sent her friends home The man shared his story on Reddit, where fellow Reddit users said he handled the situation 'perfectly'A man says that his teenage daughter is refusing to speak to him after he 'embarrassed' her at a recent sleepover, and he's wondering if he potentially mishandled the situation. The 42-year-old parent detailed his story on the popular Reddit forum 'Am I the A------,' a place where people go to seek advice about interpersonal dilemmas. In his post, he explained that he has a 17-year-old daughter named Anya and a 14-year-old stepson named Noah. 'Noah's mom passed a few years ago, and I've had full custody since. He's had a rough go of it, but he's a good kid,' the dad of two wrote, adding, 'He's not antisocial or shy, but he does not appreciate having his space invaded, and when very upset, he can kinda shut down.' He proceeded to write that his daughter — who is 'much more outgoing and has lots of friends — recently asked if she could have a sleepover at their house. The Reddit user said that he agreed under two conditions: He asked that the girls 'keep things down after 11' so that he could sleep and that they not go into his stepson's bedroom as 'the friends who were coming were pretty loud and have a tendency to crowd Noah.' 'In my opinion, these are not strict rules,' he noted. However, the man said that when he went upstairs to check on the teens at about 10 p.m., he found the girls in Noah's room, adding that it 'looked like they'd been there a while.' The PEOPLE Puzzler crossword is here! How quickly can you solve it? Play now! 'Two [of the girls] were literally sitting on his bed with him there, one of them was flipping through his sketchbook, [and] another was messing with his other stuff,' he recalled. 'Noah was clearly upset." The man said that he told the girls to leave the room, and he called 'every single one of their parents' to have them picked up. The Redditor said that his daughter then 'blew up' at him and said he had 'embarrassed" her, adding, "But I told her that I gave them TWO rules and they failed spectacularly." He admitted that his daughter is not currently speaking to him, and he is now left wondering if he 'handled things right.' 'AITA [am I the a------]?' the man asked at the end of his post. Never miss a story — sign up for to stay up-to-date on the best of what PEOPLE has to offer, from celebrity news to compelling human interest stories. Reddit users were quick to say that they thought that he handled the situation extremely well, assuring him that he was in no way the 'a------' here. 'Very good job OP [original poster],' one person replied. 'I am sure Anya is upset, but that is because of her own actions. Noah is upset because his sister intentionally hurt him. Those are different things, and you did the right thing in correcting the former child and protecting the latter child.' 'NTA [not the a------],' another person said. 'This is some of the best parenting I have seen in a long time [...]. You handled this perfectly, and your daughter needs to reflect on what she did to [her stepbrother] in his safe space.' 'One thing I want to point out is how this may be something Noah thinks about a lot moving forward in life,' someone else added. 'You stood up for him against your daughter. Your 'real' kid. As a teen boy living with a stepfather and stepsister, you have to wonder if he thinks you view them equally. You just proved to him that you do. He's as much your son as your daughter. You absolutely handled this the right way.' Read the original article on People

Fashion Expert Breaks Down F1 Movie Premiere Looks in New York
Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. A fashion expert on X by the name of Derek Guy has given his take on the attire of Formula One drivers at the F1 movie premiere in New York. The social media thread breaks down the look of each driver who was present in a group photo. The F1 movie is set to be released on June 25 (June 27 in North America), and the majority F1 team principals, drivers, including the co-producer Lewis Hamilton, were present in formal attire alongside the rest of the movie crew. Derek Guy stated on X that he reviewed the F1 drivers' outfits in response to fan demand. He said: (L-R) US actor and film producer Brad Pitt, British formula 1 driver and co-producer Lewis Hamilton and British actor Damson Idris attend the world premiere of "F1" at Times Square in New York on June... If anything, it's the people who dressed them that failed them. I am only talking about the clothes. Hopefully, by pointing out these issues, you will learn something for when you're shopping." Starting with Liam Lawson, Derek Guy pointed out the missing tie. He wrote: "A pinstripe suit with a white business shirt cries out for tie. If you don't want to wear a tie, then you need a more casual shirt or a more casual suit. Additionally, the shoes are too chunky for this outfit." It's very easy to spot this on a patterned fabric because the vertical lines should run 'true,' which is to say straight up and down. See how these lines are swinging away from his body." Next on the list was Lawson's former teammate, Yuki Tsunoda. Derek Guy wrote: "I commend this person for trying to be adventurous but I just don't think it's working on him. The outfit is just too large. The proportions on the jacket are also strange [too truncated at the bottom]. But cool that he tried something different." But cool that he tried something different. — derek guy (@dieworkwear) June 17, 2025 Alpine's Pierre Gasly was the best-dressed driver in the group, but a simple feedback never hurt anyone. Derek Guy pointed out: "The best of the group but the jacket is too short and the pants are too slim, causing them to catch on his legs. I think he would look better in a longer jacket and slightly fuller pants, as well as shirt collar points that reach his lapels." He wrote: "Shoulders strike me as too wide and trousers are too long. This can be a style [1980s Armani-esque]. I just don't feel it's working here. He wrote: "Personally don't like this silhouette and really dislike the shape of the lapels. Bottom button shouldn't be fastened. Would look better with dress shoes, not sneakers." Would look better with dress shoes, not sneakers. — derek guy (@dieworkwear) June 17, 2025 Derek Guy then critiqued Carlos Sainz and Gabriel Bortoleto. He wrote: "Both pairs of pants are too slim. Second person's jacket is too short. Both would look better with traditional dress shoes. Personally dislike luxury sneakers like Zegna's. Minimalist sneakers that cost $1,000 are inherently corny." However, he admitted that they were mostly dressed by reputable stylists. He wrote: "Some people will say I'm old fashioned. But I think these three guys at the premiere looked great. And look: their outfits follow basic tailoring principles: jackets bisect halfway from collar to floor; jacket silhouette flows into trousers. Outfits don't look old fashioned." He added: "I assume the three men above were helped by higher-powered stylists. Perhaps the F1 drivers were just put in branded clothes. IMO, if you are a celebrity, you should turn down brand deals. Don't wear clothes for money [you don't need more money]. Instead, hire a tailor."

Mom Thinks Her Family Is Complete, Then Gets Biggest Shock
Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. A mom of three thought she was done having children, then got the biggest shock of her life. After welcoming two boys—Carter, now 6, and Eli, 4— Haley and Will Spannagel were overjoyed to meet their daughter Emery in 2023. "It truly felt like our family was complete," Haley told Newsweek. "Life was busy, but full in the best way, and we both agreed we were ready to close the baby chapter." Split view of Haley and Will Spannagel with their three young children and Will in the emergency room post vasectomy procedure. Split view of Haley and Will Spannagel with their three young children and Will in the emergency room post vasectomy procedure. @haleyspannagel Will's vasectomy was subsequently scheduled for August 8 and the parents felt at peace with their decision. But two days later, Haley took a pregnancy test and it was positive. "[I] immediately thought it had to be wrong," the 26-year-old said. At her obstetrician appointment on August 12, Haley's doctor noted her HCG levels were higher than expected. "[I] thought I must be further along than we expected," she said. But on August 16, the ultrasound told a very different story: not just one surprise baby, but two. "I cried. Then I laughed. Then I cried again. It truly felt like a real-life version of the TikTok trend—just total disbelief," Haley told Newsweek. As the couple tried to process the twin bombshell, the unimaginable was around the corner. On September 27, Hurricane Helene struck their region—and their home was among the thousands lost. "It was devastating," Haley said. "Processing a surprise twin pregnancy while navigating the chaos of displacement added an entirely new level of shock. We were in survival mode emotionally and mentally." The following year in March, Will and Haley welcomed twins Asher and Adeline. "Life has truly been a blur since," Haley told Newsweek. There is zero silence or sleep—but also so much love and laughter." The mom of five posted their story in a clip on TikTok, which has been viewed 1.8 million times. Over a thousand other users commented on the clip, many of whom congratulated the new parents. "Not your plans but God's plans," one user wrote. "I'm going to avoid my husband like the plague when he gets snipped, before and after," a second user joked. A third user shared how they got their "surprise" at age 39. With five children under the age of seven, Haley described heir home as "beautifully chaotic." Carter, Eli, and Emery dote on their new siblings, and Katie and Will are learning to navigate life as a team of seven. "It's not easy, but it's ours, and we feel so grateful, even on the hard days," she said.
