Lady Gaga Officially Confirmed to Guest Star in 'Wednesday' as Netflix Drops First 6 Minutes of Season 2

Season 1 of the hit series premiered in November 2022 starring Jenna Ortega, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Luis Guzmán, Isaac Ordonez, Victor Dorobantu, Fred Armisen and moreNetflix is giving Wednesday fans a few reasons to scream — for joy, that is.
The first six minutes of the show's highly anticipated second season were shown at the streamer's Tudum 2025 live event on Saturday, May 31. After a nearly three-year wait, fans finally got to see what kind of spooky shenanigans Wednesday (Jenna Ortega) gets up to this season.
The footage begins with Wednesday tied up in a serial killer's basement — "who said nightmares don't come true?" — surrounded by life-size dolls. "He's under the delusion that I'm his next victim," she says. "I'll let him cherish that notion while I explain my predicament."
A flashback from six weeks earlier then takes place, showing Wednesday spending her summer vacation doing what any normal teen would be doing: mastering her psychic ability. With her powers under control, she sets out to find the Kansas City Scalper — which we discover was her favorite serial killer as a child.
The next scene shows Wednesday hilariously unloading her weapons — and Thing — while going through airport security, a scene from the teaser trailer Netflix released back in April.
Finally, Wednesday comes face to face with the Kansas City Scalper, who we now see is played by Haley Joel Osment, and he presents her with a doll he made that looks like her.
"Let me show you some of my own handiwork," she tells the serial killer as the clip ends.
Back on stage at Tudum, the Wednesday cast announced that Lady Gaga will be joining season 2 in a guest starring role. The news marked the first time Netflix officially confirmed her casting and likely comes as a thrill to fans after Gaga was associated with the show thanks to her song "Bloody Mary" in a scene from season 1.
Additional details about who the "Born This Way" singer will be playing in season 2 were not announced.
Gaga closed out the show with a show-stopping performance, including "Bloody Mary" as well as her hit song "Abracadabra."
The first season of Wednesday, co-created by Alfred Gough and Miles Millar, dropped in November 2022, introducing the world to Tim Burton's take on the beloved Addams Family character. The series and Ortega were nominated for Emmys and Golden Globes.
Returning cast members for season 2 include Wednesday's family members: her mom, Morticia (Catherine Zeta-Jones); her dad, Gomez (Luis Guzmán); and her brother, Pugsley (Isaac Ordonez). Also back are Thing (Victor Dorobantu) and Uncle Fester (Fred Armisen).
Joanna Lumley joins this season as Grandmama Hester Frump while Joonas Suotamo comes aboard as Lurch, replacing George Burcea from season 1.
This season also welcomes Steve Buscemi as Principal Dort, the head of Nevermore; Billie Piper as Isadora Capri, head of music at Nevermore; Christopher Lloyd as Professor Orloff, Nevermore's longest-serving teacher; Thandiwe Newton as Dr. Rachael Fairburn, chief psychiatrist at Willow Hill Psychiatric Facility; and Heather Matarazzo as Judi, Dr. Fairburn's executive assistant.
Netflix released a teaser trailer for Wednesday season 2 in April, featuring Ortega's titular character hilariously unloading her weapons when going through airport security on her way back to school.
Elsewhere in the previously released teaser, Wednesday describes returning to Nevermore as "returning to the scene of the crime," joking, "I already know where the bodies are buried."

The following scenes send the creep factor through the roof before Zeta-Jones' Morticia warns her daughter, "Every family has dark secrets, Wednesday. And secrets can have deadly consequences."
This doesn't phase Wednesday, though, who replies, "You don't need to worry about me, Mother. I do my best work in the dark."
Wednesday season 2 returns with Part 1 on Aug. 6 and Part 2 on Sept. 3 — all streaming on Netflix.

'KPop Demon Hunters' cast says animation makes them 'way cooler'

Photo courtesy of Netflix LOS ANGELES, June 20 (UPI) -- The cast of KPop Demon Hunters, premiering Friday on Netflix, say the animated film added impressive attributes to their characters. Arden Cho, May Hong and Ji-young Yoo voice a trio of K-pop stars who battle demons with their music. Cho, Hong and Yoo provide the speaking voices for Rumi, Mira and Zoey. In a recent Zoom interview with UPI, the actors marveled at recording artists EJAE, Audrey Nuna and REI AMI performing the film's songs combined with the animators creating their dance and battle scenes. "It's such a pleasure to see the musical element of it and just what we built together come together," Hong said. "Then you're like whoa, I'm even cooler than I thought." Cho agreed she felt "way cooler." "I feel like that's the magic of animation," she added. "There's just so many talented artists working together to create something and you're just mind blown when it comes out." Director Chris Appelhans said he and co-director Maggie Kang discovered animated choreography had to be "a little dialed up beyond real life" to make an impact in animation. "It really took a lot of analysis to be like, let's make this snappy move even snappier, this straight line perfectly straight, this S curve really pushed," Appelhans said. "That took us down a route to really having to understand the girls as performers, what their strengths were, how they moved differently." The three women make up the girl group Huntrix. Their latest enemies disguise themselves as a boy band to challenge Huntrix on the music charts. Huntrix even writes a diss track called "Takedown," which seems out of character for them. Cho said the lyrics betray how tough Huntrix thinks they are. "I feel like it's so cute," Cho said. "We can want to take them down. How dare those boys be so cute and try to steal the souls of our fans? How dare they? So we'll take 'em down." With a demon boy band creating tension, it becomes harder and harder for Rumi to hide a secret she's been keeping her whole life: she is actually half demon. To Cho, this is a good metaphor for anything young people may think they have to hide. "I feel like we, in different chapters of our life, all experience something that we might be ashamed of or embarrassed about or confused about," Cho said. "I love that this movie is really about her being true to herself and not being scared of who she is and accepting all of Rumi." Mira is the most aggressive of the trio. Hong feels, however, that Mira channels her anger in constructive ways. "I think she needs it, actually," Hong said. "I think that the energy that she has and brings to the table is fierce, not just purely angry." Zoey often tries to hold Huntrix together as a people pleaser. "Was it obvious?" Yoo joked. "Yes, she is but we love her. She'll get over it eventually, hopefully." Each role was recorded separately, with directors Appelhans and Kang playing the other two demon hunters in the studio. Cho, Hong and Yoo knew each other prior to the film through the industry, and now have a group chat together. They also confirmed their K-pop fandom, with Yoo asserting she has been in the BTS Army since 2015. Huntrix sings English-language songs, but Kang was proud to incorporate a few Korean words in the lyrics. "Ultimately, our songs had to carry so much story that a lot of the lyrics were too important to not be understood," Kang said. "We didn't want to go the route of subtitling things for the songs. So a lot of it is in English but we did manage to sneak some Korean in there." Reflecting on Huntrix's songs in the film, Yoo acknowledged that they have more success with the more positive song "What It Sounds Like" following "Takedown." "Choosing kindness will always take you farther than choosing to make someone feel smaller for no reason," Yoo said. "So I think that's a great message, especially for young people to learn how to handle conflict."
