Congress, BRS diverting public attention to weaken BJP: K Reddy

Hyderabad, June 20 (UNI) Union Minister and Telangana BJP President G Kishan Reddy on Friday accused the Congress government of bringing up various issues to divert public attention and suppress the rise of the BJP in the state.
He also alleged that both the Congress and the BRS are working in coordination to stop the BJP's growth in Telangana.
Kishan Reddy was addressing a key workshop at the BJP Telangana State Office, aimed at strategising for the upcoming local body elections.
Senior party leaders, including National General Secretary Sunil Bansal, Telangana in-charge Abhay Patil, MPs Etala Rajender, D.K. Aruna, Godem Nagesh, and several MLAs and district leaders, participated in the session.
Referring to the recent revelations in the phone tapping case, Kishan Reddy said,
"The situation is alarming. Phones of BJP staff, leaders, and even the social media team were tapped under the BRS regime. Judges, businessmen, film stars, and elected representatives were also targeted. Instead of investigating seriously, both Congress and BRS are playing political games around it."
He criticised Chief Minister Revanth Reddy for changing his stand after assuming office. "When in the opposition, he demanded a CBI probe. Now, he remains silent," Reddy said.
Kishan Reddy called on BJP workers to take the message to the people about the corruption during BRS rule and the Congress government's failure to implement its six guarantees and over 400 election promises.
'A BJP government is essential to fulfil the aspirations of the people of Telangana. Only under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership can we save this state and bring development,' he said.
Blaming both the BRS and Congress for the financial crisis in the state, Reddy stated that Telangana has plunged into debt due to the misgovernance of the past decade.
"Today, there isn't even enough money to pay salaries. Welfare schemes are being delayed, and development programmes are at a standstill," he added.
The Union Minister emphasised the need to build a strong BJP from the grassroots, especially by bringing in youth and leaders from marginalised and rural backgrounds. He directed the party to conduct mandal- and district-level workshops and training programmes to prepare the cadre for future political movements.
Reddy also highlighted the Centre's contribution to Telangana's development, including ongoing infrastructure projects like the development of 42 railway stations, national highways, rural development programmes, and welfare schemes such as free 5 kg rice for the poor and financial support to panchayats.
"Without central assistance, no sector—be it railways, education, or health—can see progress in Telangana," he asserted.
He also spoke about upcoming awareness campaigns and political events, including the observance of June 25 as Anti-Emergency Day (Dark Day) to remind the public of Congress's past actions against democracy and constitutional values.
'Today's Congress leaders act like they are the protectors of the Constitution, but history shows they have subverted it time and again,' he said, calling on the BJP cadre to educate the public about these issues.
Kishan Reddy urged the party to unite under the vision of Prime Minister Modi and become a strong alternative in Telangana. He said that many new leaders have already joined the party, and efforts are underway to bring more leaders and public representatives into the BJP fold.

Priyank Kharge Asks Why MEA First Denied Him Clearance to Visit the US, Before Granting Permission Later

New Delhi: Congress leader and Karnataka minister Priyank Kharge on Saturday (June 21) said after initially denying him a clearance to visit the US, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has now granted him a clearance. Kharge questioned the reasons for this back and forth by the MEA and demanded an explanation. 'So in a U-turn, the Ministry of External Affairs has now decided to revoke its earlier decision and grant me a clearance for an official visit to the United States. I had sought permission on 15 May to travel between 14–27 June to represent the Government of Karnataka at two major global forums and over 25 official meetings with top companies, universities and institutions for collaborations and pitch for investments,' Kharge wrote on X on Saturday. Kharge added that the application for the visit of minister and officers' delegation to the US made on May 15 was rejected on June 4. Thereafter, another application for officers' delegation without Minister made on June 6 was cleared on June 11. 'My application was denied without any official explanation. On 19 June, I addressed a press conference, laying out the full chronology, questioning the basis of the denial and raising concerns about possible political interference. The matter was widely reported in the media. By the evening of the same day, the MEA revoked its earlier denial and issued a No Objection clearance dated 19 June,' said Kharge. He added that the clearance was received 36 days after his original application, 15 days after the official denial and five days after his scheduled departure. 'The timing raises serious questions: Why was the clearance denied in the first place? Was the previous order revoked to avoid accountability after the matter became public? What is the point of granting clearance after the key events are either over or nearing completion? Will the MEA now avoid explaining the original decision by pointing to the belated approval?' asked Kharge. Kharge was scheduled to attend the BIO International Convention in Boston and the Design Automation Conference (DAC) in San Francisco, Deccan Herald had earlier reported. 'While the Centre gives us slogans like 'Make in India,' 'Digital India', 'National Quantum Mission' and 'India AI Mission,' the real work to realise these aspirations is happening here in Karnataka. They coin the vision, but when we do the work to bring investments, create jobs and position India as a global leader – they block us,' he added. Kharge said that Karnataka deserves answer on the issue. 'The Prime Minister once said MAGA MIGA = MEGA. But what does that even mean in practice, when the very state driving India's tech and innovation engine is denied the support it needs to lead globally?' said Kharge.

‘Mastered art of slogans, not solutions': Rahul Gandhi takes dig at PM Modi over India's ‘record low' manufacturing

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Saturday said Prime Minister Narendra Modi has mastered the 'art of slogans' but offers no solutions, and claimed that India's manufacturing was at a record low despite the 'Make in India' initiative. ''Make in India' promised a factory boom. So why is manufacturing at record lows, youth unemployment at record highs, and why have imports from China more than doubled? 'Modi ji has mastered the art of slogans, not solutions. Since 2014, manufacturing has fallen to 14 per cent of our economy,' he said in a post on X. 'Make in India' promised a factory boom. 'Even the much-hyped PLI scheme is now being quietly rolled back,' he alleged. Gandhi said India needs a fundamental shift, one that empowers lakhs of producers through honest reforms and financial support. 'We must stop being a market for others. If we don't build here, we'll keep buying from those who do. The clock is ticking,' he said. Gandhi met mobile repair technicians at Nehru Place, Delhi and attached a video of the conversation to the post. 'In Nehru Place, New Delhi, I met Shivam and Saif – bright, skilled, full of promise – yet denied the opportunity to fulfil it.' Noting that there is a difference between 'Made in India' and 'Assembled in India', he said: 'The truth is stark: we assemble, we import, but we don't build. China profits.' 'China is the world's electronic market. There is no other electronic market anywhere. Assembly as many iPhones as you want, all you are doing is giving money to the big oligopolies of India. Start making iPhones, it's a completely different ball game,' he said in the video. The former Congress chief said to manufacture parts, whether it is a motherboard or 'small pieces', you need a certain level of machining, a certain level of quality, a certain level of understanding of tolerances of working with small components. 'That is a learnt skill. That is not something you can get in just two minutes. Until you start respecting the idea of physical labour, the man who is doing that work…But we have no respect for that guy on the street who is sitting there, selling his things, for hours together…' 'And, at the centre of it, and people don't like it when I say it, and at the centre of it is the idea of caste. We need to make this transparent. We need to show exactly how Indian society distributes power, exactly how Indian society distributes respect,' Gandhi observed. Rahul Gandhi and the Congress have raised the issue of conducting a nationwide caste census to ascertain if various castes in society have a proportionate 'share' of power.
