Diana Penty says she was dropped from Rockstar after workshops, later bagged Cocktail

India Today5 hours ago

Actor Diana Penty was initially approached for 'Rockstar' (2011) before the role ultimately went to her contemporary Nargis Fakhri. She was speaking in an interview when she said she had even started training for the Imtiaz Ali directorial but was dropped after two to three weeks of workshops. Interestingly, the role went to Diana when she was still working as a model and had not done any film.advertisementThe 39-year-old was in a conversation with Hauterfly when she shared how she landed her first film 'Cocktail' (2012). She recalled her early days in the industry and said, "I was in New York, modelling, and I got a call from my agency. They told me Imtiaz Ali was looking for a new girl for his film 'Rockstar' and that I must meet him."Diana admitted films were never on her radar as she had never taken any formal training in acting. She said, "I never had the confidence that I could be an actor one day. I never believed that I would ever be able to pull it off." This is when the director encouraged her to attend workshops, she shared.
"After 2–3 weeks he said, 'Look, I can see you have come a long way and I've seen a lot of improvement, but I still don't feel you are ready to play the character in 'Rockstar'. Maybe, it is too soon for you," reminisced Diana. She added that the shooting was about to begin in a month or so, and even she felt that she wasn't ready. "I was kind of relieved because I didn't feel confident. So I went back to New York and continued with my modelling," she shared.advertisementA year later, Diana received a call for 'Cocktail' and got to know the script of the film was written by Imtiaz. Interestingly, it was Imtiaz who suggested 'Cocktail' director Dinesh Vijan that she would be perfect for the role of Meera. She also remembered receiving a confirmation call just 24 hours after her audition. 'Cocktail' went on to become the biggest film of Diana Penty's career. The film, a love triangle featuring Diana, Deepika Padukone and Saif Ali Khan, was a massive box office hit and garnered critical acclaim.

3 skills players should be able to upgrade in GTA 6

GTA 6 is set to blow the roof off with its Vice City comeback, a wild new cast, and a world that looks more alive than ever. But if Rockstar really wants to level up the experience, it's time to bring back (and improve) a feature we've missed since San Andreas: skill upgrades. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now Here are 3 skills players should definitely be able to upgrade in GTA 6 to make gameplay way more fun, personal, and replayable. 1. Charm and Charisma Think about it: Lucia's been through prison, Jason's ex-military, and both are deep in the crime world. These two know how to talk their way in (or out) of trouble. So why not let us upgrade that? A social or persuasion stat could unlock: Discounts from vendors or black-market dealers Easier getaway negotiations or hostage situations Alternate mission endings based on dialogue choices The ability to bluff or con NPCs mid-heist This adds a roleplay vibe and rewards players who want to talk instead of shoot — or at least try to. Can GTA 6 FINALLY Fix The Car Chase System? 2. Driving Skill Let's be honest: some of us drive like maniacs in GTA… and not in a good way. Imagine being able to upgrade your driving skills and actually feel the difference. Better handling at high speeds Tighter turns during police chases Less spin-outs on wet roads Maybe even drift bonuses? You start off as a reckless rookie, but after enough getaways and street races, you become the Dominic Toretto of Vice City. If Rockstar nails the driving physics (which it needs to), giving us a skill progression system makes every chase feel earned, not just scripted. 4 AMAZING GTA6 Technologies That Should Get You Excited! 3. Tech Skill Let's upgrade from just stealing cars to stealing data . With Cal Hampton already snooping on Coast Guard comms, GTA 6 is clearly dipping its toes into the tech world. Now imagine: Hacking cameras to scout missions Disabling police comms during a heist Remotely unlocking a luxury car Wiping your wanted level with a few taps It's giving Watch Dogs, but in a more chaotic, Rockstar way. And the more you level up, the more tools you unlock, like phone tricks to full-blown cyber warfare. GTA 6 doesn't need 100 RPG elements to feel fresh, but a few upgradeable skills would go a long way. Driving, charisma, and tech would add depth without dragging down the fun. It's all about giving us more ways to play our way. Rockstar, if you're listening: Give us depth. Give us choices. Give us skills that actually matter. We're ready to grind for greatness in Leonida.

5 GTA 6 easter eggs Rockstar can include in GTA 6

(Image via Rockstar) If there's one thing Rockstar always delivers besides chaos and controversy, it's easter eggs. Whether it's Bigfoot in San Andreas or the UFOs in GTA 5, the devs are known for stuffing their worlds with cheeky secrets, spooky nods, and pop culture throwbacks. And with GTA 6 shaping up to be the biggest game in the series yet, you know Rockstar's gonna go wild. Here are 5 easter eggs we absolutely expect to see in GTA 6, either because they're iconic, long overdue, or just so Rockstar-coded it hurts. 1. Another Bigfoot Cameo They teased us with Bigfoot for years, and finally gave us a full-on encounter in GTA 5. But let's be real: Bigfoot's basically family now. With Leonida's swamps and backwoods, the setting is perfect for a creepy cryptid comeback. Expect grainy sightings, spooky shadows, or even a mission that makes you question if Bigfoot's real or just some guy in a ghillie suit. Why Tommy Vercetti Must Return in GTA 6 2. A Tommy Vercetti Tribute Somewhere in Vice City Vice City isn't Vice City without the original legend: Tommy Vercetti. Whether it's a mural, a statue, or an old abandoned mansion full of 80s memorabilia, we're betting Rockstar throws in a tribute to the OG kingpin. They have to. Fans will lose it if there's even a 'Vercetti Enterprises' office somewhere. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Hasta 8 meses de protección Seresto Encuéntralo Undo Bonus points if it's hidden and only accessible during a specific time of day. Classic Rockstar. 3. Aliens Again, But Weirder Aliens have been a GTA staple since forever, indicated by crop circles, crashed UFOs, and even secret government bases. But Leonida's strange mix of wetlands, beaches, and sketchy redneck zones gives Rockstar room to take it further. 4. A GTA 5 Farewell Hidden in the World GTA 5 ran for over a decade. That's longer than some friendships. Rockstar has to give it a send-off. Maybe a broken-down car that looks like Franklin's Buffalo. Or a shrine to 'three legends from Los Santos.' Something emotional, subtle, and 100% Rockstar. You might laugh. You might cry. You'll definitely screenshot it. Why CJ Must Return in GTA 6 5. CJ or Grove Street References ' Ah s **, here we go again*.' You just read that in CJ's voice, didn't you? Grove Street and San Andreas left a cultural dent, and Rockstar knows it. Whether it's graffiti tags, a track on the radio, or some old NPC muttering CJ's iconic line, a San Andreas nod is guaranteed. We'd bet our last in-game dollar on it. GTA 6 is already looking stacked, but let's be honest — the easter eggs are the real cherry on top. Rockstar's gonna flex hard on the nostalgia, the inside jokes, and the WTF moments. And we're 100% here for it. Keep your eyes peeled, because Leonida isn't just packed with crime — it's packed with secrets. Game On Season 1 kicks off with Sakshi Malik's inspiring story. 5 things GTA 6 can do better than Red Dead Redemption 2

Red Dead Redemption 2 is a masterpiece. It gave us cinematic storytelling, insane realism, and an open world that felt alive . But let's not ignore the facts: some parts of RDR2 felt too slow, too clunky, or just plain frustrating. With GTA 6 set to launch in May 2026, Rockstar has a golden chance to take the best of RDR2, and level it up . Tired of too many ads? go ad free now Here are 5 things GTA 6 can (and should) do better than RDR2. 1. Make the World Fun AND Realistic RDR2 was crazy immersive, but sometimes... a little too slow . Skinning animations took forever, and Arthur's sluggish pace got tiring fast. GTA 6 can strike a better balance between realism and fun. Let us enjoy the immersive world of Leonida without having to brush our car's tires every five minutes. Give us detail, yes—but keep it snappy . Red Dead Redemption 2s Combat Is NOT Good... 2. Modern Movement and Combat Let's be real: Arthur Morgan's movement was clunky. He'd trip over fences or get stuck in doorways like it was his first day with legs. Combat, while cinematic, often felt stiff and repetitive. GTA 6 can change that. Give us fluid movement like modern action games. Tight gunplay. Smooth cover mechanics. Something that feels fun , not frustrating. Lucia and Jason deserve better mobility than Arthur ever had. 3. Better Urban Chaos Red Dead was great, but you weren't exactly blowing stuff up in Saint Denis. GTA thrives on urban madness — speeding through traffic, launching rockets off rooftops, robbing stores in the middle of rush hour. GTA 6's Vice City and Leonida can give us the dense, reactive cities RDR2 never had. Let us feel like every block has something going on — from street races to cop chases to viral stunts. Bring the mayhem back. GTA 6 Character Customization | Everything We Know! 4. Deeper Customization RDR2 let you dress up Arthur like a cowboy Ken doll, but GTA needs to go next level . Clothes, cars, weapons, apartments, social profiles — we want it all, and we want it personalized. GTA 6 should let players own their criminal lifestyle, from Lucia's fits to Jason's safehouse setup. We're in 2026 — if we can't dye our car seats neon pink and stream it live, what are we even doing? 5. Less Micromanagement, More Fun Feeding your horse, cleaning your guns, trimming your beard — cool the first time, annoying the next 50 . Tired of too many ads? go ad free now RDR2 went hard on realism, but GTA should focus on fun first. Let us skip the chores. Make systems optional. Nobody's logging in to maintain their criminal hygiene. GTA 6 should be about action , not animal grooming. RDR2 walked so GTA 6 can steal a car and speed off into the neon sunset . If Rockstar nails these five things, they're not just making a better game — they're making the best GTA ever.
