The vehicle had reportedly swerved off the road after skidding on snow on the Xinjiang Duku Highway in western China.
It was left dangling precariously with its rear left wheel elevated off the ground.
A group of Good Samaritans found it in the precarious spot and pulled over to help.
The SUV's driver was found apparently unable to reverse the car onto the icy roadside or get out of the vehicle safely.
A woman, named only as Ms Deng by local media, filmed the rescue effort as she and her friends stopped to help.
They had been on a trip to a lake as they drove up the mountain - and pulled over when they spotted the dangling car.
The video begins with a look at just how fraught the situation is as the passersby approach the trapped vehicle.
They begin to try and heave the car back to safety as more and more motorists park nearby to lend a hand.
In a heart-stopping moment, one of the rescue party removes a suitcase from the back of the car - risking shifting more weight onto the car's front tyres.
A rumble of thunder can be heard as the rescue mission becomes increasingly tense.

But at least six men lend their strength to helping keep the car on the ledge, gradually pulling it back to safety.
Eventually, they manage to heave the SUV further back from the brink.
The rescuers then tie a rope onto the back of the car to properly drag it back to firm ground.
According to reports, the two unnamed people inside the vehicle were unharmed in the bone-chilling ordeal.
Authorities have warned motorists to be aware of weather conditions and to maintain a safe distance when driving, News X has reported.
They also urge road users to park properly on the viewing platforms.
The Duku Highway sits on what was historically known as the Silk Road.
It is as well known for its stunning views and landscapes as it is for its dangerous driving conditions.
Back in 2021, another car rolled off a cliff edge on the same highway.
While several family members were able to leap out of the car in time, but one woman inside was unable to escape in time.
She survived the fall, but suffered severe hip injuries.

Moment huge wedge tornado with terrifying black funnel rips path of destruction in deadly electric storms killing three

The deathly winds tore through parts of North Dakota - devastating homes and swallowing electric cables. Shocking footages shows the sky illuminated by lightening as a dense and mushrooming cloud swirls. The large hail and powerful winds are believed to have battered through Northern Minnesota and northern Wisconisn on Friday with communities Spiritwood, Valley City and Fort Ransom largely affected. Some 25,000 residents were left without power as some areas like Sheldon stuck without electricity until Saturday evening. While the brutal storm was confirmed as a tornado crews are still working to determine its strength and wind speeds. Meteorologist Timothy Lynch, said: "Essentially, that produced the winds upward of 114 mph across a portion of eastern North Dakota and even in northwest Minnesota. "I've not seen one since I've been here. I've been here seven years." Although an exact figure has not been determined, a number of homes also suffered extensive damage with reports of blown out roofs and damages buildings. Michaela and Colton Briss live in the path where the tornado travelled north. The couple were forced to hide in their basement as the twister destroyed their home's windows and door frames, reports Inforum. Kentucky tornadoes leave at least 16 dead & many injured in 'mass casualty' event as storms rip through mid-west North Dakota Governor Kelly Armstrong said: "Our hearts and sympathies go out to the family and friends of the three North Dakotans who tragically lost their lives in Friday's tornado, and to the close-knit community in Enderlin, which suffered widespread damage. 'We thank our dedicated first responders and community leaders, including our many volunteer first responders, for their swift action to keep residents safe and help them recover.' This comes just a couple of months after a tornado ripped through Arkansas and rumbled Mirrouri. At least four people were reported dead in neighbouring Tennessee and Missouri as the tornadoes battered the wider region. What is a wedge tornado? A "WEDGE" tornado is the informal name for a particular kind of storm. As the title suggests, these are tornadoes where the storm cuts a distinctive wedge shape against the sky. In a wedge tornado, the centre of the storm is highly-concentrated at a single spot, drawing in clouds from a wide area above. This is what give the storm such a tight triangular shape. The dense epicentre of a wedge tornado means the surrounding winds reach exceptional speeds - sometimes faster than 200mph. And that makes this kind of storm especially deadly. Dramatic footage showed a dense grey wedge blotting out the sky. Whilst huge clouds were seen dragged into the centre, which swirled down to the ground. Bright fiery flashes were captured sparking amongst the dark mass as electricity cables were torn from their masts. Debris could be seen flying around the tornado as it smashed through trees and buildings. The storm was first spotted just east of Jonesboro, before it tore a northeasterly path towards the state line with Missouri. Winds of almost 200mph accompanied the violent vortex, adding to the carnage. Brandon Copic, a storm chaser for Fox Weather, who braved an approach, said at the time: 'It's coming very close to me. There is an audible roar with it right now.' Weather experts estimated it was at least a four on EF scale, with some signs of being even stronger. A category four storm is characterised as a violent with wind speeds between 166 and 200 mph, capable of causing catastrophic damage, levelling well-built structures, and tossing vehicles and large objects. 5 A tornado tore through Arkansas last month Credit: Fox Weather

Neighbours ready to ‘go to war' over parking spaces as council chiefs plan new houses

PARKING PLIGHT Neighbours ready to 'go to war' over parking spaces as council chiefs plan new houses Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) RESIDENTS living in a Scots street say a new housing development will spark parking wars among neighbours. Edinburgh Council has received plans for eight new build flats with parking provisions, a bike shelter, as well as a front and back garden in Wester Hailes from Prospect Housing. Sign up for Scottish Sun newsletter Sign up 2 Plans have been lodged for a new housing development but residents are up in arms 2 The flats will be built on the site of the car park that the locals already use However the plans have caused outrage amongst current residents because the flats will be built on the site of the car park they already use. Locals also fear that, as well as a shortage of parking spaces, the community's rat problem will worsen and there are added concerns the bus stop will be removed. Residents have lodged 22 objections to the city's planning department. The application says 20 parking spaces will be lost but nine new spaces will be added. However, that is little comfort to residents. Maria Clark, 56, fears the shortage of spaces could lead to violence. She told Edinburgh Live: 'The car park is full every night from 4pm. Take it away and I worry we wont be able to park outside. 'It could lead to fighting and resentment amongst neighbours. The plans show there are not enough parking provisions." 'We need our vehicles for our jobs. Our insurance won't cover us unless it is outside of our house and we don't want to pay for extra coverage during a cost of living crisis. 'The rat problem is already horrendous around here and when they start digging, it will get even worse. I've written in both times to object. 'My grandson is also asthmatic and I worry about his health with the dust and pollution. With big lorries coming into the area, I also worry about the young kids and animals. Bumbling 'arsonists' who try to set fire to a house accidentally set their getaway car ablaze as they try to escape 'We all fear the bus stop in front of the development will also have to be moved and that will impact the elderly and disabled. There are so many better areas to build locally than a car park we all rely on. 'I do not feel like we are being listened to.' Another worried resident said she is concerned about overcrowding. Se said: 'We are already having issues, it is rammed and a nightmare,' they said. 'We are all for affordable housing but the placement of this development isn't great. 'There are big fields opposite and the site of the closed old folks home. We are worried about the street overcrowding. 'It feels like they are just trying to squeeze folk in to solve the housing emergency.' Planning documents state: 'The structure will measure approximately 15 meters in height and the materials shall be comprised of facing brick, dark grey tiles, zinc roofs, zinc cladding and glazed coloured brick. The proposed building line will extend from the neighbouring residential building to the east, angling towards Clovenstone Road to the west. 'Public open space in the form of communal gardens have been designed to the rear of the building, while private gardens for the two ground floor flats will be provided at the front of the site. 'The application also includes boundary treatments and new landscaping to the west of the site. This will incorporate the development of the existing vehicle parking area, the introduction of a new tarmac surface, and the provision of secure bike stores for 20 bicycles.' Prospect was approached for comment.

And it's a must-have all year round. Once you switch it on, you'll get short-notice alerts for rain, giving you those precious minutes to get indoors. It's based on your exact location and detailed forecasting, so it's impressively accurate. "You can receive notifications when precipitation or certain severe weather events are forecasted in your current location," Apple explains. HOW TO PREPARE FOR WEATHER ALERTS First, you'll need to turn on Location Services so that the Weather app knows where you are. Otherwise, it won't be able to give precise rain predictions – so the notification feature won't work. Go into Settings > Privacy & Security > Location Services. Then tap on Weather and choose the Always option. Finally, turn on Precise Location, which lets the Weather app give you extremely accurate alerts. "Go to Settings > Privacy & Security > Location Services," Apple explained. "To review or change access settings for an app or to see its explanation for requesting Location Services, tap the app. "To allow an app to use your specific location, leave Precise Location turned on. "To share only your approximate location—which may be sufficient for an app that doesn't need your exact location—turn Precise Location off. "Note: If you set the access for an app to Ask Next Time, you're asked to turn on Location Services again the next time an app tries to use it." Picture Credit: Apple / The Sun Go to the Weather app, then to your list, and then the menu, and choose Notifications. Then look under the Your Locations section, and turn on notifications for both Severe Weather and Next-Hour Precipitation – then tap Done.
