Head into the Notifications tab inside Weather

It's a little-known iPhone feature that you can turn on for free in a matter of seconds.
And it's a must-have all year round.
Once you switch it on, you'll get short-notice alerts for rain, giving you those precious minutes to get indoors.
It's based on your exact location and detailed forecasting, so it's impressively accurate.
"You can receive notifications when precipitation or certain severe weather events are forecasted in your current location," Apple explains.
HOW TO PREPARE FOR WEATHER ALERTS
First, you'll need to turn on Location Services so that the Weather app knows where you are.
Otherwise, it won't be able to give precise rain predictions – so the notification feature won't work.
Go into Settings > Privacy & Security > Location Services.
Then tap on Weather and choose the Always option.
Finally, turn on Precise Location, which lets the Weather app give you extremely accurate alerts.

HOW TO TURN WEATHER ALERTS ON
Next, go to the Weather app on your iPhone – the default one installed by Apple.
Tap on the menu option to display the list, then choose the three-dot menu icon.
Now select Notifications, and allow them if you're prompted to give permission.
Next look below Current Location, and enable notifications for both Severe Weather and Next-Hour Precipitation.

You'll know that they're active because the toggles will turn green.
Then tap Done and you're all sorted.
GET WEATHER ALERTS FOR MORE LOCATIONS
You can also get weather alerts for locations that you're not in.
So this can warn you if your home is about to be struck by a storm while you're away, for instance.

Here's the official advice from Apple...
"Go to Settings > Privacy & Security > Location Services," Apple explained.
"To review or change access settings for an app or to see its explanation for requesting Location Services, tap the app.
"To allow an app to use your specific location, leave Precise Location turned on.
"To share only your approximate location—which may be sufficient for an app that doesn't need your exact location—turn Precise Location off.
"Note: If you set the access for an app to Ask Next Time, you're asked to turn on Location Services again the next time an app tries to use it."

Go to the Weather app, then to your list, and then the menu, and choose Notifications.
Then look under the Your Locations section, and turn on notifications for both Severe Weather and Next-Hour Precipitation – then tap Done.
That way, you'll get alerts for all of the locations that you've saved to your Weather app.
You can always change this or remove locations at any time.

Shocking footages shows the sky illuminated by lightening as a dense and mushrooming cloud swirls. The large hail and powerful winds are believed to have battered through Northern Minnesota and northern Wisconisn on Friday with communities Spiritwood, Valley City and Fort Ransom largely affected. Some 25,000 residents were left without power as some areas like Sheldon stuck without electricity until Saturday evening. While the brutal storm was confirmed as a tornado crews are still working to determine its strength and wind speeds. Meteorologist Timothy Lynch, said: "Essentially, that produced the winds upward of 114 mph across a portion of eastern North Dakota and even in northwest Minnesota. "I've not seen one since I've been here. I've been here seven years." Although an exact figure has not been determined, a number of homes also suffered extensive damage with reports of blown out roofs and damages buildings. A "WEDGE" tornado is the informal name for a particular kind of storm. As the title suggests, these are tornadoes where the storm cuts a distinctive wedge shape against the sky. In a wedge tornado, the centre of the storm is highly-concentrated at a single spot, drawing in clouds from a wide area above. This is what give the storm such a tight triangular shape. The dense epicentre of a wedge tornado means the surrounding winds reach exceptional speeds - sometimes faster than 200mph. And that makes this kind of storm especially deadly. Dramatic footage showed a dense grey wedge blotting out the sky. Whilst huge clouds were seen dragged into the centre, which swirled down to the ground. Bright fiery flashes were captured sparking amongst the dark mass as electricity cables were torn from their masts. Debris could be seen flying around the tornado as it smashed through trees and buildings. The storm was first spotted just east of Jonesboro, before it tore a northeasterly path towards the state line with Missouri. Winds of almost 200mph accompanied the violent vortex, adding to the carnage. Brandon Copic, a storm chaser for Fox Weather, who braved an approach, said at the time: 'It's coming very close to me. There is an audible roar with it right now.' Weather experts estimated it was at least a four on EF scale, with some signs of being even stronger. UK weather: 'Fresher' conditions for much of country after hottest day of year so far

Much of the UK had cooler temperatures on Sunday with "fresher" conditions - apart from the South East - after thunderstorms swept through parts of the country overnight. A yellow thunderstorm warning issued by the Met Office lasted until 3am for areas including northern England and southeast Scotland. Some parts had up to 25mm of rainfall in one hour, the weather agency said. Berwick-upon-Tweed in Northumberland saw 31.1mm overnight and was among the locations that saw the wettest conditions. It comes after the UK had the hottest day of the year so far, with 33.2C (91.7F) recorded in Charlwood, Surrey, on Saturday. 0:42 Some parts of the country have experienced a heatwave over the past few days but temperatures are now closer to average for the time of year. However, Met Office meteorologist Marco Petagna said temperatures could hit 27C or 28C in the South East on England on Sunday.
