'Get him removed from Border 2': Diljit Dosanjh faces major backlash for working with Pakistani actress Hania Aamir in Sardaar Ji 3
Following the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack, which claimed the lives of 26 innocent tourists and worsened India-Pakistan relations, rumours had been circulating that Pakistani actress Hania Aamir, the film's female lead, might be replaced after the incident. Despite this, on Sunday evening, Diljit Dosanjh, the Indian singer and actor, unveiled the trailer of his upcoming Punjabi film Sardaar Ji 3, and this has now sparked an online backlash, where fans even ask the makers of Border 2 to remove Diljit.
As soon as the trailer dropped on the internet, a section of the social media was 'disgusted' by the 41-year-old singer. Moreover, the presence of Hania in the trailer has, without any doubt, raised questions, but the surprising twist amid this is that the film will not be released in India due to the ongoing India-Pakistan tensions.
Sharing the trailer, Diljit wrote, "Sardaar Ji 3 Releasing 27th June OVERSEAS Only. FADH LAO BHOOND DIAN LATTAN." As soon as the post surfaced on the social media, netizens slammed Diljit Dosanjh and called him 'opportunist.'
Redditors slam Diljit Dosanjh, call him 'opportunist'
The Sardaar Ji 3 trailer is unavailable for viewers in India on YouTube. When you attempt to play the video, users are met with the message saying, "The uploader has not made this video available in your country."
On June 11, the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) requested the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) to deny certification to Sardaar Ji 3 because it features Pakistani actors.
Not just this, but Redditors expressed their anger on a viral thread slamming Diljit and calling him an opportunist who hides his true colours. The Reddit post shared by a user called @Intrepid_Victory6503 mentioned that the singer is banking on people and things he barely supports.
"He is a major traitor for casting Hania Aamir, fully aware of her stance and loyalty," the post's title read.
Fans urge makers of Border 2 to remove Diljit
The trailer of Sardaar Ji 3 sparked a heated conversation on the same thread, where netizens questioned that he never spoke a word during the war and made comments like, "Honestly, I don't think Diljit holds any affinity and love towards India, so I really don't expect him to be pro-India, but I hope now at least the border makers will remove him from a film based on the life of our army."
The discussion went on, and people also urged the makers of Border 2 to remove Diljit from the film. One user said, "Diljeet plans to change his image with Border 2. B2 may succeed on nostalgia, and Diljeet will move on easily. T-Series is already powerful enough to suppress backlash and the audience might stay silent."
"Along with boycotting Pakistani artists, we should start the petition to boycott Diljit and get him removed border 2," another added.
"This guy should also exit from Border 2 as it will be an INDIAN MOVIE."
"100% agree. If only there were a petition we could sign to block his Border 2 from releasing in India. If anyone from Diljit's team ends up seeing this: "SHAME ON YOU! Expletives aren't enough for people like you." I say this with the utmost anger as someone who lost a close family member due to this horrid Pak-sponsored Pahalgam attack. And as someone who felt disgusted seeing Hania's comments on India."
About India-Pakistan tensions
On April 22, a terrorist attack took place in Pahalgam, Kashmir, which killed 26 individuals. In retaliation, the Indian Army initiated Operation Sindoor on May 7, a focused military strike aimed at dismantling terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan.
Following several days of escalating tension, both countries reached an agreement to halt all gunfire and suspend military activities.

50 years of Sholay: Dharmendra was initially offered role of Gabbar, Thakur, but...
Legendary Bollywood movie Sholay is all set for the world premiere of its fully restored and uncut version in Italy on its 50th anniversary on June 27. Elated by the news, the stars of Sholay, Amitabh Bachchan and Dharmendra, called the screening a 'watershed moment' and the movie an '8th wonder of the world'. Dharmendra was 'thrilled' by the news of Sholay's restoration, and said he was sure that this screening too would have the same success as it had 50 years ago. 'Sholay is the 8th wonder of the world,' the veteran actor said, asking, 'Who can forget the dialogues of Salim-Javed and the direction of Ramesh Sippy?' Dharmendra quipped that even though several of Sholay's scenes have gone down in the history of Indian cinema and every character became a star, 'but the real hero was the coin.' Sharing an interesting anecdote about his role in the iconic movie, Dharmendra said he was initially offered the roles of Gabbar and Thakur. '…but I was clear that I wanted to play the role of Veeru as he is so much like me.' 'I had so much fun on the shoot.' The actor shared his favourite scenes from the movie, and said, 'the tanki scene, the scene in the temple, and so many others, but the most powerful scene I feel was the death of Jai, which is still etched in my mind.' Amitabh Bachchan hoped that Sholay would play its magic again, 50 years later, for new audiences across the globe. Saying that the movie is the kind that remains 'permanently etched in your mind,' the veteran actor recalled that 'unforgettable experience' of shooting for the film. He also said that at the time, he had no idea that it would be a watershed for Indian cinema. 'It's a dramatic change in fortunes from being declared an unsuccessful venture to its record-breaking box office run, which was an emotional rollercoaster for all of us.' 'I hope that even 50 years later, the film will capture the imagination of new audiences across the world,' he said. The Ramesh Sippy-directed epic, Sholay, of 1975, is completing its 50 years, and as a tribute to Indian cinema's cult favourite over the years, it will premiere at Italy's Il Cinema Ritrovato Festival in Bologna. Sholay's fully restored and uncut version will be screened on June 27 at the large open-air Piazza Maggiore, known for hosting memorable film events. Written by Salim Khan-Javed Akhtar, Sholay featured Amitabh Bachchan, Dharmendra, Hema Malini, Jaya Bhaduri, and Amjad Khan, and went on to become a cultural phenomenon. The restored version is the result of a three-year collaboration between the Film Heritage Foundation and Sippy Films Pvt. Ltd. This will be the first time the iconic movie will be released with its original ending and previously deleted scenes. The restoration project involved working with rare materials found in film archives in Mumbai and London. The final version was created with the help of experts in Italy and support from the British Film Institute. Sholay will be shown in a 2.2:1 aspect ratio, with restored sound and visuals.

Ever since Diljit Dosanjh's film Sardaar Ji 3 has been released, the internet has been divided into two sections. A major chunk of the internet is 'disgusted' by the trailer because it featured Pakistani actor Hania Aamir amid tensions between India and Pakistan. On Reddit, a social media user posted 'guts' with a snip of Diljit and Hania. Ever since the trailer was released, it has received massive backlash from the audience. One person wrote, 'Never spoke a word during the war… now we know why… I liked him, but the opinion is now changing highly.' 'Honestly, I don't think Diljit holds any affinity and love towards India, so I really don't expect him to be pro-India, but I hope now at least the border makers will remove him from a film based on the life of our army,' read another comment.
