Students of Sharnbasva University win scholarship

Five engineering students of the Faculty of Engineering Technology (Exclusively for Women) at the Sharnbasva University bagged the prestigious – 'Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (IEEE) Women in Engineering (WiE) scholarship' of ₹50,000 each for the academic year 2024-25 under the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) of the Quest Global Singapore based software major.
This is consecutively the second time the students of the Faculty of Engineering Technology (Exclusively for Women) have won the scholarship under the same initiative
During the 2023-24 academic year as many as 11 students had bagged the scholarship of ₹50,000 each. One of the features of the students who had bagged the scholarship during 2024-25 was that they were among the 388 students who have been selected to receive the scholarship from the different engineering colleges in Karnataka, Maharashtra, and Kerala.
Three students including Vaishnavi Soma, Radhika Shanmukh, and Mohammadi Maheen Naaz of the Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning Department, and Bhoomika Reddy of the Computer Science Engineering bagged the scholarship of ₹50,000 each , they were pursuing their sixth semester in their respective departments, Vaishnavi Takle of the E&CE Department who had won the scholarship of the same amount was in the 8th semester.

As many as 15 students from the Mechanical Engineering Department of Sharnbasva University in Kalaburagi have been selected for a job-assured, six-month skill-based training programme at the Bajaj Engineering Skills Training (BEST) Centre, located in PES University, Bengaluru. Sharnbasva University Vice-Chancellor Prof. Anilkumar Bidve said that the state-of-the-art laboratories at the BEST Centre have been established by Bajaj Auto Limited at a cost exceeding ₹30 crore, as part of the company's Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative. A distinctive aspect of the BEST Centre is its exclusive focus on students from engineering colleges and technical institutions situated in Tier II and Tier III cities. This condition, set by Bajaj Auto, aims to bridge the urban-rural skill gap and promote equitable access to advanced technical training. The selected students will undergo training across four interdisciplinary modules, covering cutting-edge areas such as Mechatronics, Motion Control and Sensor Technology, Automation and Robotics, Smart Manufacturing, and Industry 4.0. The labs are outfitted with over 120 advanced machines and systems, including smart vision tools, Augmented Reality (AR), Virtual Reality (VR), Internet of Things (IoT), Autonomous Mobile Robots (AMR), and Computer Integrated Manufacturing platforms. Students will gain proficiency in more than 20 industry-relevant software tools. The curriculum has been crafted by experts from Bajaj Auto Limited in collaboration with the Symbiosis Institute of Technology, Pune, with the aim of aligning academic training with real-world industrial needs. Regular interactions with professionals and industry experts form a core component of the programme. Highlighting the practical focus of the initiative, Prof. Bidve emphasised that each student is assured of job placement upon completion of the programme, supported by regular campus recruitment drives conducted by leading companies.

Sharnbasva University students clinch overall championship at Techno Utsav 2025

Students from Sharnbasva University, Kalaburagi, delivered an outstanding performance at Techno Utsav 2025 organised by Lingarajappa Appa Engineering College in Bidar on Thursday emerging as the overall champions of the intercollegiate tech fest. Competing against participants from various engineering colleges, students from the Faculty of Engineering and Technology (Co-Education) of Sharnbasva University secured the top honours in multiple categories, demonstrating their technical prowess and creative skills. Laxmi Bagodi, a fourth-semester student from the Department of Computer Science and Engineering (Faculty of Engineering and Technology - Exclusively for Women), won the first prize in the Data Detoxing event. Her department peers Kadambini, Dharneshwari and Bhargavi clinched the first place in the PPT Presentation competition. Meanwhile, students from the Faculty of Engineering and Technology (Co-Education) secured the first prize in Photography and second prizes in Group Singing, Circuit Mania and Paper Presentation on Women Empowerment, contributing significantly to the university's overall championship. Notable winners included Jagadev Reddy, Vineet Biradar, Sunil, Ambaresh and Sangamesh K. whose innovative approach earned them top honours in the Photography category. Suman secured the second place in Circuit Mania, while Shashank Wali, Sri Giri, and Savita earned the second place for their paper presentation on Women Empowerment. In Group Singing, Sangamesh and Sai Chetan brought home the second prize. Awards were distributed during a vibrant valedictory ceremony held at the host college on Thursday evening. The event was attended by secretary of the Sharanabasaveshwar Vidya Vardhak Sangha Basavaraj Deshmukh, vice-chancellor of Sharnbasva University Anilkumar Bidve and other dignitaries. The eighth Peetadhipathi of Sharanabasaveshwar Samsthan and Chancellor of Sharnbasva University Sharnbaswappa Appa, chairperson of the Sharanabasaveshwar Vidya Vardhak Sangha Dakshayini Avva and Dean Lakshmi Patil Maka have congratulated the students for their commendable achievement.
