I WAS full of confidence when I popped into Glasgow's Kinara and said 'I'll polish this off no bother'.
However my eyes were bigger than my belly as I battled the meat sweats after about a dozen dishes.

Award-winning chef Shabu Natarajan with the mouthwatering dish
I love Indian grub and have never experienced anything quite like this before - it was breathtaking.
I'm not a lover of vegetarian dishes but the highlight here was the Posto Aloo – Bengali-style potatoes cooked with poppy seeds.
They were incredibly rich and moreish and will definitely be getting added to my next Indian order.
The thali was pure theatre - they say you eat with your eyes and this massive meal was a stunning sight.
This is the perfect way to end your weekend before heading back to work on Monday - grab a few pals and enjoy a stunning Sunday scran.
And don't forget to wash it down with one of their ice-cold beers or boozy cocktails.
Hungry and adventurous diners can take on Kinara's colossal food challenge - and eat it for FREE if they manage to finish it within half an hour.

JK Rowling says she and Stephen Fry were NEVER friends after he said Harry Potter author was ‘radicalised by TERFs'

The comedian said: "She has been radicalised I fear and it may be she has been radicalised by TERFs. "It is unhelpful and only hardens her and will only continue to harden her I am afraid. "I am sorry because I always liked her company. I found her charming, funny and interesting. "Then this thing happened and it completely altered the way she talks and engages with the world now. "I am not saying that she not be called out when she says things that are really cruel, wrong and mocking. "She seems to be a lost cause for us." His words were then reposted on social media by barrister Jo Maugham - prompting a brutal response from the author. But in response to the tweet, Rowling denied claims that the pair were close. Posting on X, she said: "It is a great mistake to assume that everyone who claims to have been a friend of mine was ever considered a friend by me." The author is no stranger to such comments and has long stood firm in the face of online pressure. Rowling has come under fire for comments made in the past towards trans people. PM backs JK Rowling in war with trans activists and says 'we should not criminalise people saying common sense things' In 2020, the esteemed author slammed the growing trend of replacing "biological sex" with "gender identity". Her stance, that declared "sex is real", led to death threats, but also moulded her into a figurehead for the "gender-critical" movement. Activists accused her of transphobia in 2020 when replying to an article with the headline: "Opinion: Creating a more equal post Covid-19 world for people who menstruate." She tweeted: "'People who menstruate'. I'm sure there used to be a word for those people. "Someone help me out. Wumben? Wimpund? Woomud?" Her remarks led to criticism from Potter actors Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, Rupert Grint, who ignored the fact her books had made them famous to launch a string of attacks. It was Rowling's beloved group For Women Scotland which also launched a long-running legal battle with the Scottish government over how a "woman" was defined in Scottish law. The Scottish government had argued people with gender recognition certificates (GRCs) should be protected from sex-based discrimination, meaning a transwoman would be considered a woman. However, campaign group For Women Scotland claimed this only applied to people born as a female. In April, the Supreme Court's landmark judgement ruled that it was unanimously determined "sex is binary" and that female-only spaces must be protected on the basis of biology. Hailing the landmark decision, Tory Leader Kemi Badenoch said: "Saying 'trans women are women' was never true in fact, and now isn't true in law either. "This is a victory for all of the women who faced personal abuse or lost their jobs for stating the obvious. "Women are women and men are men: you cannot change your biological sex."

Our UK seaside village is inundated with tourists after TV show made us globally famous – it's forcing us out our home
Tens of thousands of fans flock to the peaceful fishing town each year SEA TO BELIEVE Our UK seaside village is inundated with tourists after TV show made us globally famous – it's forcing us out our home Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) A POPULAR TV show is forcing residents to leave their picturesque coastal village - because it has become a mecca for tourists. Residents in the Cornish village of Port Isaac have fumed that droves of Doc Martin fans arriving each year have made their town unlivable. Sign up for Scottish Sun newsletter Sign up 9 Tens of thousands of Doc Martin fans flock to the village each year Credit: Neil Hope 9 During summer months, the town is so crowded that locals steer clear Credit: Neil Hope 9 Over the past two decades, house prices in the area have quadrupled Credit: Not known, clear with picture desk Tens of thousands of 'Clunatics' - the nickname for fans of the show and star Martin Clunes - flock to the peaceful fishing village annually. During the summer months, the town's narrow winding lanes are so crowded that locals steer clear of the historic harbour. Fans from the UK, USA, Australia and mainland Europe has turned the once quiet village into an international tourism hub. To some in Port Isaac, this has brought new opportunities including walking tours, cafes and merchandise shops. Rubber-necking tourists reportedly flock to view iconic landmarks such as the home of Martin Clunes' character Dr Martin Ellingham, and Aunty Ruth's cottage above Squeezy Belly Alley. But locals have suggested that their home has become a "victim of its popularity". Over the past two decades, house prices in the area - renamed Port Wenn on the show - have quadrupled. Mum-of-two Anne Wilce, 44, a lifelong Port Isaac resident, told how it had become "unrecognisable". She fumed: 'It is horrific, there is no affordable housing available for anybody now. 'My sons are 19 and 22 and they won't ever be able to afford to buy a house at this rate. 'Without more affordable housing in the village the younger generation will move away because there is nothing here for them. 'My house is 30 years old and it's part of the last affordable housing that has been built here. Martin Clunes announces sad death of Doc Martin co-star live on air - two years after hit ITV show ended 'I don't go down to the village centre, I have no reason to because it's all second homes. "Even when something does come up for sale it's ridiculously priced - nobody around here can afford it. 'Doc Martin brought a whole load of money into the village which has created jobs for people and helped this community. "But it is also a victim of its popularity and it doesn't feel like our village any more.' Tourism has long since overtaken fishing as Port Isaac's main industry. Local businesses have thrived as a result of the town's worldwide fame. 9 Local resident Anne Wilce worries about her children finding homes in the area Credit: Neil Hope 9 Locals have suggested that their home has become a 'victim of its popularity' Credit: Neil Hope 9 To some in Port Isaac, Doc Martin has brought new business opportunities including walking tours, cafes and merchandise shops John Cleave, who was brought up in the village and runs the Boathouse fashion and gift shop, agrees that the show has changed village life. "The locals talk about BDM – that's Before Doc Martin. "It was always favoured by comparatively few people who simply saw it as a beautiful, typical Cornish fishing village. "As a business you could close your doors from October to Easter and it wouldn't make a lot of difference. "Thanks to Doc Martin we now have all-year-round trade." The British comedy-drama first aired in 2004. On the outer edge of the village - next to Port Isaac's real GP surgery - sits a small housing estate containing some of the village's only affordable homes. They were constructed around 30 years ago and according to residents they were the last affordable homes built in the village. There are now just two active fishing boats remaining in the village - compared with 174 holiday lets on Airbnb alone. In the past year, semi-detached properties in Port Isaac sold for an average of £810,000, with terraced properties fetching £616,250, according to Rightmove. Shop worker Elisha Scott, 19, and her family have lived in the area for 10 years. She said: 'Nobody my age can afford to rent let alone buy a house here, all my friends still live with their parents. 'I'm not really thinking about house prices though because I don't think I'll stay here for a long time, there just aren't the job opportunities. 'Doc Martin definitely made a difference to Port Isaac, there are always fans of the show looking around the village. "What has come with that is a lot of people buying second homes here which has made it too expensive for locals.' Earlier this month a new plan was unveiled to build more affordable homes for local people. Tre Haven Community Land Trust (CLT) has started negotiations with Cornwall Council to purchase land for 25 affordable housing developments. The proposal has support from the area's Lib Dem MP Ben Maguire and local celebrity chef Nathan Outlaw. But critics point out the site sits on a main road several miles from the village - with almost no public transport links to shops or schools. Unemployed Ciaran Patching, 20, said: 'It took me two years of searching and I feel incredibly lucky to be here, before that I was living with my mum in the town. 'I would love to be able to buy my own house here but it doesn't feel like that will ever be an option at the moment. 'Port Isaac is definitely very popular in summer but in winter it can be dead. "The popularity of Doc Martin has helped a lot of businesses around here but it has made it hard for year round residents.' 9 Resident Ciaran Patching lives in affordable housing in the area Credit: Neil Hope 9 John Cleave hailed the show's positive impact on local businesses Credit: Neil Hope

The couple will be joined by their celebrity friends ahead of their wedding aboard the yacht in Venice's waters this Friday. Around 200 guests are expected to attend the wedding of the 61-year-old Amazon founder and 55-year-old journalist fiancée. Ahead of the wedding in Venice, local activists displayed large protest banners, reading 'No Space for Bezos' and 'If You Can Rent Venice for Your Wedding You Can Pay More Tax'. They have also staged canal-blocking and waterside protests in a bid to stop the world's richest man from tying the knot in their city. Read more world news LA DOLCE VITA Jeff Bezos & Lauren Sanchez prepare for star-studded 3-day Venetian wedding Organiser Federica Toninello told The New York Times that protesters have obtained leaked details of the couple's schedule and plan to disrupt events - including one reportedly set for the historic Misericordia. Toninello told a crowd of 300 people: "Bezos will never get to the Misericordia", adding, "We will line the streets with our bodies, block the canals with lifesavers, dinghies and our boats." Protesters say tourism in Venice has driven housing costs sky-high, forcing many locals out of the region. But the couple's wedding organisers, Lanza & Baucina Limited, earlier hit back at suggestions that the couple's lavish wedding plans are not respectful of locals. The organisers said in a statement to Page Six: "From the outset, instructions from our client and our own guiding principles were abundantly clear: the minimising of any disruption to the city, the respect for its residents and institutions and the overwhelming employment of locals in the crafting of the events." The luxury vessel, Koru - named after the Māori word for 'loop' or 'coil' - symbolises new beginnings. Measuring 417 feet in length with three towering masts over 230 feet high, Koru is currently the world's largest sailing yacht, according to Boat International. The superyacht can reach speeds of up to 17 knots per hour, powered by twin, 1,500hp MTU diesel engines. It cruises comfortably at 15 knots - about 2.25 knots faster than the average for similar vessels. Said to have been first commissioned by Bezos in 2018, the yacht was built by Dutch yacht maker Oceanco near Rotterdam and delivered to Gibraltar in April 2023. The superyacht's support vessel reportedly added another $75 million to the already staggering $500 million cost. Its exterior design was completed by Dutch company Dykstra Naval Architects, while London-based company Mlinaric, Henry & Zervudachi completed its interior design. Koru can host up to 18 guests in nine staterooms, along with around 36 crew members. Its full features remain unclear, but Architectural Digest reports that Koru includes multiple outdoor lounging areas, three jacuzzis and a swimming pool.
