(Pic: DBKK) Kota Kinabalu: City Hall (DBKK) announced the temporary closure of the car park at Taman Poket in conjunction with the upcoming Sugandoi Kaamatan Final at the city level. The closure will take effect from 1am on Sunday (April 27), and will remain in place until 5pm on Saturday (May 3). The car park, located opposite the DBKK Enforcement Department, will be closed to facilitate preparations and the staging of the Sugandoi Kaamatan Final, a highly-anticipated cultural singing competition held as part of the annual Kaamatan Festival celebrations. DBKK advised the public to comply with instructions issued by on-site enforcement personnel and to utilise alternative routes to ensure smooth traffic flow and public safety during this period. 'This temporary closure is essential to ensure the smooth running of the event and the safety of all participants and visitors. We appreciate the cooperation of all road users and members of the public,' said DBKK in a statement issued by its Public Complaints and Public Relations Department. The Sugandoi Kaamatan Final is one of the highlights of the city's Kaamatan festivities, showcasing the vocal talents of participants from various communities and celebrating Sabah's rich cultural heritage. Fuel tanker catches fire near Taman Indah Permai

The Fire and Rescue Department received the emergency call at 11.31pm and arrived at the scene by 11.49pm, with the fire brought under control within 17 minutes. Advertisement No casualties were reported, but about 30 per cent of the tanker was damaged, with 30 personnel from Kota Kinabalu and Lintas fire stations deployed. The team used water tankers, foam, hose reels, and a thermal imaging camera to safely cool the tank and ensure no risk of reignition. Motorcyclist killed in three-vehicle crash at Bukit Kelawat

KOTA BELUD: A motorcyclist was killed in a three-vehicle collision involving a 10-tonne lorry along Jalan Kota Belud-Tuaran at Bukit Kelawat on Thursday morning. The 44-year-old man died at the scene from severe injuries sustained in the 7.10am crash. Advertisement Police said the incident involved a lorry, a Toyota Hilux, and the victim's motorcycle. A preliminary investigation found the lorry lost control while descending Bukit Kelawat and hit the Hilux before crashing into the motorcycle. Major roads in KK to close for TYT's birthday parade

KOTA KINABALU: Several main roads in the City will be temporarily closed on Saturday (June 21) in conjunction with Head of State Tun Musa Aman's 74th Official Birthday celebration. District police chief ACP Kasim Muda said the closures will take place between 5am and 10am to facilitate a ceremonial parade at Padang Merdeka involving 80 contingents and approximately 10,000 participants. Advertisement The affected roads are Bulatan Bunga Raya, Bulatan Capital (Bandaran), Simpang Tiga Bukit Bendera, Jalan Dewan, and the Jalan Padang junction near KFC Bandaran. The KK Bypass will serve as the main access route for parade participants, ministers, department heads, and guests throughout the closure period. The full parade route will run from Jalan Dewan and Jalan Istana, concluding at Padang Merdeka, with Jalan Padang designated as a parking zone for invited vehicles. Police advised the public not to park along the affected roads to avoid traffic congestion and ensure a smooth procession.
