Benson Boone Makes Hot 100 History
Benson Boone is actively promoting three singles from his forthcoming album, American Heart. 'Sorry I'm Here for Someone Else,' 'Mystical Magical,' and 'Momma Song' all appear on multiple Billboard charts at the moment, but none are performing nearly as well as the track that started it all for him.
'Beautiful Things' broke Boone into the mainstream and has become a historic smash for the pop singer. It is still present on the Hot 100 this week, even though the musician stopped promoting the tune long ago.
Amazingly, it lives in a loftier position than both 'Sorry I'm Here for Someone Else' and 'Mystical Magical,' the first two official singles from his forthcoming sophomore full-length. This frame, 'Beautiful Things' rises from No. 14 to No. 10, reentering the most competitive space on the Hot 100. As it climbs, the track reaches a milestone that only a handful of songs in history have achieved.
'Beautiful Things' has now lived on the Hot 100 for 70 weeks. It's just the tenth track in the more than half-century-long tenure of the ranking to reach that landmark figure.
Boone is currently tied with 'Snooze' by SZA as the ninth-longest-running winner ever. With its seventieth frame scored, the tune breaks out of a tie with 'How Do I Live' by LeAnn Rimes and 'Save Your Tears' by The Weeknd and Ariana Grande, both of which disappeared from the tally after 69 stays.
As Boone continues to up his career-best each week, the record for the longest stay on the Hot 100 is also frequently reset. 'Lose Control,' the breakout smash by Teddy Swims, debuted on the chart in 2023, and it's still present today. This time around, in its ninety-third stint on the tally, it returns to the top 10 as well, pushing from No. 11 to No. 8.
It's highly likely that 'Beautiful Things' will break its tie with 'Snooze' in just a few days and earn a seventy-first turn on the Hot 100. When it does, it will tie with 'All I Want for Christmas Is You' by Mariah Carey — and from there, it could continue to climb.
Also ahead of 'Beautiful Things' on the list of the longest-charting successes in Hot 100 history are all of the following tracks: 'Heat Waves' by Glass Animals (91 weeks), 'Blinding Lights' by The Weeknd (90 weeks), 'Radioactive' by Imagine Dragons (87 weeks), 'Sail' by Awolnation (79 weeks), 'Levitating' by Dua Lipa (and in some instances, DaBaby) (77 weeks), and 'I'm Yours' by Jason Mraz (76 weeks). How far Boone will be able to progress with his pop smash is yet to be seen, but he may soon tie, and even pass, the biggest wins from Mraz, Lipa, and DaBaby.

Benson Boone Pokes Fun at Haters and 'One Hit Wonder' Criticism in 'Mr. Electric Blue' Video
Benson Boone has dropped a music video for the track "Mr. Electric Blue" The 22-year-old musician pokes fun at "industry plant" and "one hit wonder" allegations in the visual, all while dealing with some of his harshest critics Boone's new album, American Heart, is out nowBenson Boone's new music video has him coming face-to-face with his biggest adversaries: critics, haters and pools that don't allow backflips off the diving board. On Friday, June 20, the acrobatic pop star dropped his latest album American Heart alongside a cheeky visual for standout track "Mr. Electric Blue," which addressed the naysayers with a hint of humor, self-deprecation and a shirtless car wash. In the video, directed by Matt Eastin, Boone discovers he needs to raise $10 million during a meeting at "Industry Plant Records" headquarters — a nod to, well, "industry plant" allegations. The discovery takes him on a wild unemployment ride as he walks dogs, mows lawns, washes cars and sells jumpsuits all in an effort to make the money back in just a week. Never miss a story — sign up for to stay up-to-date on the best of what PEOPLE has to offer, from celebrity news to compelling human interest stories. Boone opens the video by walking into a meeting with a label head while wearing a "one hit wonder" t-shirt, before being told that "everything's terrible" and his backflips and "moonbeam ice cream" catchphrase — a nod to single "Mystical Magical" — weren't necessarily doing the trick. "We need something new, we need a new gimmick," the fictional label head told Boone. "Maybe good songwriting?" "You know I can't do that," Boone responded, poking some more fun at himself. With his career on the line in the visual, Boone then does all he can to raise $10 million in seven days. At one point, he even takes on a pool boy gig, before spotting a "no backflips" sign and having to retreat from the diving board. At the end of it all, the musician discovers "everything's fine" and that his entire catalog has been sold to retail chains, fast food locations and movie theaters, making him "the most overplayed artist in the world." "That's all I've ever wanted," he said at the end of the video. Boone's new album, which marks his second LP, has already helped him steer clear of any "one-hit-wonder" allegations by spawning hit single "Mystical Magical" — a year after "Beautiful Things" backflipped its way to the top of the charts. "I think I'm getting to the point where I just want people to know that there's more than just that song," Boone told Rolling Stone in March. "I think I'm a little past that point. But of course, I still love the song. I'm still proud of it. And I'll be performing it for a while, so I hope that feeling sticks around." The new 10-song project arrives ahead of Boone's forthcoming American Heart North American arena tour, which is set to hit Madison Square Garden in New York and the Arena in Los Angeles after kicking off in St. Paul, Minnesota in August. American Heart is out now via Night Street Records/Warner Records. Read the original article on People

File Photo by James Atoa/UPI | License Photo June 20 (UPI) -- Benson Boone is back with new music. The singer, 22, released a music video for his single "Mr. Electric Blue" Friday. The song appears on Boone's second studio album American Heart, also released Friday. The video begins as Boone walks into his agent's (Jack LaFrantz) office, wearing a shirt that reads "One Hit Wonder," a seemingly tongue-in-cheek reference to his hit song "Beautiful Things." "We need something new. We need a new gimmick, maybe good songwriting," the agent says. "You know I can't do that," Benson replies. The agent says that Boone owes him $10 million, and the video shows Boone walking dogs, cleaning a pool and washing a car to try and earn the money. Other tracks on his new album include "Man in Me," "Mystical Magical," "Reminds Me of You," "Momma Song," "I Wanna be the One You Call," "Wanted Man," "Take Me Home" and "Young American Heart."

Mariah Carey Earns Her First Solo Hit Song In A Decade
Mariah Carey returns to the Hot 100 solo for the first time in 10 years with her new single 'Type of ... More Dangerous,' which also launches at No. 1 on other Billboard lists. (Photo by Christopher Polk/Billboard via Getty Images) Throughout the 1990s, Mariah Carey was the queen of the Hot 100, scoring one No. 1 smash after another. Several of her hits from that decade ruled for historically-long periods of time. Lately, Carey has spaced her releases further apart, and she doesn't land big wins like she used to. But the beloved singer is back on Billboard's ranking of the biggest songs in America this week with 'Type Dangerous,' which helps her return to the tally unaccompanied for the first time in years. 'Type Dangerous' opens at No. 95 on the Hot 100 this week. According to Billboard, the track earns Carey her first completely solo hit on the chart roster in a decade. The last time she debuted a tune on the tally without any other featured artists credited was in May 2015, when 'Infinity' arrived and peaked at No. 82. In the years since 'Infinity' debuted, Carey has pushed a handful of tracks onto the Hot 100, but all of them benefited from another artist being included. Her list of recent hits includes 'I Don't' with YG and 'Oh Santa!' alongside Ariana Grande and Jennifer Hudson. Those two tunes peaked at Nos. 89 and 76, respectively. Of course, Carey returns to the Hot 100 every holiday season with 'All I Want for Christmas Is You.' The track finds its way back to the tally sometimes in November, sometimes not until December, but for the past half-decade, it has risen all the way to No. 1 every year. The blockbuster has now accrued a total of 18 weeks ruling the list — a number that will surely climb again at the end of 2025. 'Type Dangerous' powers its way onto the Hot 100 thanks largely to a healthy sales sum. The single opens at No. 4 on the Digital Song Sales chart, with a little under 5,100 pure purchases, according to Luminate. That also sends it straight to No. 1 on both the R&B/Hip-Hop Digital Song Sales and R&B Digital Song Sales tallies. It similarly opens inside the top 10 on a handful of other genre-focused rankings.
