Biker dies in horror crash near Scots farmhouse

Police have launched an investigation into the crash.
A biker has died in a horror crash on a country road in Aberdeenshire.
The tragedy occurred at around 6.10pm on June 21, on the B966 Fettercairn to Edzell road at Cairnton of Balbegno on Saturday evening.

The 59-year-old male rider of the blue and white Suzuki GSXR 750 motorcycle was pronounced dead at the scene.

His next of kin have been made aware. No other vehicles were involved.
The road was closed afterwards, and later reopened at around 12.10am on Sunday, June 22.
Police are now appealing to the public for any information or dash-cam footage.

Sergeant Dave Cooper said: 'Our thoughts are with the family of the man who died and an investigation is ongoing to establish the full circumstances.
'We would also like to speak to anyone who was in the area at the time and may have seen what happened or have dash-cam footage that could help.'Anyone who can assist is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 3053 of Saturday, 21 June, 2025.

An image from the scene seems to show a number of police vehicles on the scene as well as officers milling about the lane. The photo shows residents milling about the lane as they go about their Sunday. The reason for the presence is not currently known. A witness told Edinburgh Live: "Police were coming from everywhere. I was out shopping and I heard sirens. By the time I got up to Rose Street, van and cars were there." Police Scotland has been approached for comment. Car 'sinks to bottom' of Strathclyde Loch prompting 999 response

Fire crews responded to Strathclyde Country Park at around 7.20pm on Saturday following reports of a vehicle in the water. Reports on social media claimed that a car had 'sunk to the bottom' of Strathclyde Loch. The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) confirmed it sent three fire engines and two boats to the scene. READ NEXT: 'Parents Against Knives' march takes place through Glasgow Firefighters are said to have not recovered the vehicle and left ten minutes later at 7.30pm. There were no reports of any injuries. An SFRS spokesperson said: 'We received a call at around 7.20pm on Saturday, June 21, 2025, to reports of a vehicle in the water at Strathclyde Country Park. 'Operations Control mobilised three appliances and two boats to the scene. Crews left the area at around 7.30pm. 'There were no reported injuries.' Police Scotland has been contacted for comment.
