Shreveport's free Medieval Faire, sword fighting, craft and more
SHREVEPORT, La. (KTAL/KMSS) — Calling Lords, Ladies, young squires and noble maidens, the Shreveport Regional Arts Council calls upon thy neighbors to join their free event filled with sword fighting, craft and more.
The Shire of Ardanroe will host a grand Medieval Art Faire on Saturday, May 31st with faire action and craft.
There will be a mere spectacle for thine eyes with action craft thine own heraldry, calligraphy, knights in swordplay demonstrations.
The Shire of Ardanroe, a local chapter of the Society of Creative Anachronism, invites all residents to live a medieval life at the Caddo Common Park, 869 Texas Avenue, from 1 p.m. until 4 p.m.

Their chapter is located in the Kingdom of Gleann Abhann, according to the Shire of Ardanroe's (SoA) social media page.
Their admin, Mike Dudley, says they are looking for people to display their medieval collection.
Calligraphy tent: framed scrolls, personal calligraphy projects, tools
Wax tent: examples of real or mock wax seals
Heraldry tent: cups, boxes, favors, or anything else with your heraldry on it
Leather tent: stamped or tooled leather projects
Fighter tent: water, snacks,
Display tent: anything else! Garb, art, pictures, feast gear, …
According to SoA, they have been practicing their swordsmanship since early May.

More Local News Aaron Watson is a country artist who began his career playing Honky-Tonk music in Texas in the early 2000s. He released his first album, 'Shut Up and Dance', in 2002, which gained him regional and some national recognition. Now he has reached the Billboard Top 10 of the Country Album chart five times. His album 'The Underdog' reached number one on the Billboard Country Albums chart in 2015. Watson is known for his dedication to his fans, often staying late after performances to interact with them. He is a key figure in the independent country music scene, inspiring other artists to pursue their own path. Aaron Watson will perform with openers Garrison Wright and his son Jake Watson at Bear Creek Smokehouse in Marshall. TSTC Foundation provides 350+ scholarships to cut education costs
MARSHALL, Texas (KTAL/KMSS) — The financial barrier to higher education affects many people. With help from donors, The TSTC (Texas State Technical College) Foundation helps alleviate that burden. The Foundation offers over 350 scholarships to new and current TSTC students, several of which are exclusive to students at the Marshall campus or to Harrison County residents. TSTC Marshall grows diesel tech program with new facility Jill Crocker, a development officer for the Marshall campus, said, 'How it works is once they complete their FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) and their paperwork, if they receive government funding, we have scholarships out there that will cover the rest as long as they keep that grade-point average.' Martin Specialty Coatings in Shreveport will award two $2,500 scholarships to students enrolling in the Building Construction Technology program in Marshall. The Fat Boy Foundation is awarding a $1,500 Jonathan Holland Memorial Scholarship to a TSTC Electrical Lineworker and Management Technology student. The scholarship's namesake studied in the program. Harrison County residents entering their first semester can have their entire tuition covered with The Steve and Penny Carlile scholarship. Building Construction Technology program coming to TSTC's Marshall campus Caleb Lovera, a TSTC Industrial Systems student who received the Carlile Scholarship, said, 'If you apply for scholarships, it's free money.
