‘JDM: Japanese Drift Master' Is a New Open-World ‘Initial D' Style Driving Game

Sim racing is serious stuff, and there's a long list of video games to satisfy our inner pro race car driver. Within that gameplay universe, drifting has a place too, of course. But a newly released game possibly raises the bar on mountain pass racing, drawing heavy inspiration from familiar anime and film legends Initial D , Akira , and The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift .
Launched this week, JDM: Japanese Drift Master is exactly as its name suggests. Touge-style racing is an expected focus, but the open-world game map offers 250 kilometers (155 miles) of diverse driving roads and iconic landmarks from throughout Japan. These include the Himeji Castle, Mount Akina, Tatara Bridge, and Daikoku Parking Area.
The sim racing game features fully customizable vehicles officially licensed from Honda, Mazda, Nissan, Subaru, and others. Personalize and tune your drift king in a number of ways, from styling and suspension to powertrain and braking distances. If you don't see something you like from the current crop of 27 cars (oh, come on, race the Acty), feel free to request one.
JDM offers two driving physics: arcade and simcade. According to developer Gaming Factory, the arcade model is designed for beginners by offering simplified steering and easy-to-learn controls. Its target audience is also players who want to focus on fun rather than realistic gameplay. The simcade setup offers a more natural car feel and is recommended for players using wheels.
Note that in arcade mode, initiating and maintaining drift will be easier, but keeping the car in line during grip events will be a challenge. The opposite will be true in simcade where players will have an easier time maintaining grip but be tested in setting up a drift.
As for the game plot, the story focuses on a Polish-born drift racer named Touma. After a personal tragedy, Touma relocates to Japan to fulfill his lifelong dream of being a legitimate drifter. JDM offers 40-plus narrative-driven events as well as storytelling via a manga mode. Gaming Factory

This Rideable Robot Is A Man-Made Horse Powered By Hydrogen
It had to happen. One day, humans had to attempt to make their own horse. Or a machine as close as can be to a rideable Rottweiler. Boasting the combined attributes of a horse, a mountain lion and a motorcycle, here it is—the Kawasaki Corleo concept. That's right, it'll be a while before you can actually buy one. Check out the video below. According to the company, one day deep in the R&D department, someone dared to ask, 'What if we put legs on an all-terrain vehicle?' So, working outside of their comfort zone, engineers created the Corleo. The resulting vehicle incorporates the company's vision of mobility in 2050, where instinct, technology and the natural environment move in sync. Or at least, that's what Kawasaki Heavy Industries says. Corleo is a 4-legged rideable robot targeting a 2050 future Unveiled recently at the Expo 2025 Osaka in Japan, the Corleo is a revolutionary off-road personal mobility vehicle—a rideable robot propelled by four legs and powered by an engine fueled with hydrogen. While Kawasaki did actually unveil this real-life concept, it was the brand's computer-generated video that has generated intense interest online. Making the Corleo look like a hoot to ride, the imagery portrays a rideable four-legged robot that comes across as an advanced version of Boston Dynamics' Spot —the dog-like robot mixed with the fun of Luke Skywalker's Landspeeder cruiser. Having racked up over 1.1 million views so far, the CGI video shows the Corleo galloping through a thick forest, frolicking across a field, leaping across a small gorge and trotting across a snowy outcrop in a landscape mimicking scenes from Lord of the Rings. Corleo employs independently articulating legs As far as actual riding goes, Kawasaki says that the Corleo mimics the responsive feel of an ATV or even a motorcycle, but instead of using wheels, it employs independently articulating legs with swing arms that absorb impact and shocks and adapt to uneven terrain. Each leg is fitted with a hoof made from slip-resistant rubber, split left-to-right to adapt to different surfaces like grass, gravel, and rock. This four-legged construction maintains balance and stability as it keeps the rider's body in an upright forward-looking posture, even when climbing steps. Corleo employs some clever design ideas, including independent legs, a hydrogen engine and steering through weight shifts using sensors in the stirrups and handlebars. The rear leg unit can swing up and down independently from the front leg unit, allowing it to absorb shocks during walking and running. A 150cc hydrogen engine produces electricity to propel the leg-mounted drive units, with rear-mounted hydrogen canisters supplying fuel to deliver low emissions and silent operation. An onboard GPS navigation screen guides riders by mapping a path up or down a hill, while also ensuring the rider's center of gravity, and hydrogen fuel levels. "While preserving the joy of riding, the vehicle continually monitors the rider's movements to achieve a reassuring sense of unity between human and machine," Kawasaki said.

Nissan Rogue Generations Overview: How It Became The Top-Selling Nissan
Many years after Honda and Toyota established their grip on the compact crossover segment with the CR-V and RAV4, Nissan arrived on the scene with the Rogue. Like those crossovers, the Rogue aimed to be a little bit of everything to buyers: Cheap enough, practical enough, and with a bit more rough-road capability than a sedan or hatchback. Over three generations, the Rogue has gone on to become Nissan's best-selling model in the United States; only the Sentra is anywhere close to it in 2025 so far. Here's an overview of each Rogue generation and how the crossover has changed through the years. This Nissan Rogue's model years were from 2008 to 2013, after going on sale in 2007. It had slightly oddball styling from the front, even after a mid-cycle refresh for 2011. Power comes from a 2.5-liter naturally aspirated four-cylinder engine with 170 horsepower and 175 lb-ft of torque, with front-wheel drive being standard and all-wheel drive an option. From the Nissan Rogue's first year, all models used a CVT, and this has generally been one of the Rogue's weak points. Not only did the CVT create a noisy, unrefined driving experience, but this transmission was unreliable, even leading to a class-action lawsuit filed against the brand. If you're willing to live with the CVT and keep up with maintenance, the rest of the Rogue package is pleasant enough. Efficiency was good, crash-safety scores were high, and the Rogue was practical enough. It's a pity that this model was held back by a lackluster powertrain. Related: Toyota RAV4 Generations Overview: Evolution Of The Crossover Pioneer Manufactured for the 2014 to 2020 model years, the second-gen Rogue was a larger and more handsome crossover. Nissan managed to free up enough space for an optional third row, something that set apart the T32 from most rivals, although it could only offer up 31.4 inches of legroom in this back row. The company persisted with its CVT transmission and the same 170-hp four-cylinder engine, so there was no improvement in performance. Reliability remained an issue with the CVT, so much so that Nissan extended the warranty on second-gen Rogues, but that was merely a Band-Aid on a bullet wound. For the 2017 model year, the Rogue gained a hybrid model with 176 hp - it returned up to 34 mpg combined, as opposed to the non-hybrid model's 29 mpg. Overall, the second-gen Rogue was more practical but continued to be let down by sluggish acceleration and CVT issues. Despite this, Rogue sales in the USA reached over 400,000 annual units in 2017 and 2018, the last time it achieved this level of sales success. Inside and out, this is a big leap forward, with the T33 boasting the smartest of all Nissan Rogue body styles and a plush interior, especially on top trims, which get features like quilted leather upholstery. Initially, Nissan stuck with its 2.5L four-pot with 181 hp, but this was soon replaced by an all-new 1.5-liter three-cylinder turbocharged engine. This smaller mill had variable compression technology, allowing for a better balance of power and economy. Its 201 hp and 225 lb-ft were better than before, and FWD models can achieve 33 mpg combined. Unfortunately, Nissan continued to stick with a CVT, spoiling the driving experience. In December 2013, an investigation into engine failure was also opened, concerning the 1.5-liter unit, continuing a theme of powertrain maladies that have affected all generations of the Rogue. We do know that a new Rogue Hybrid is on the way, and this will fill a major gap in the Rogue lineup, since the RAV4 and CR-V both have more powerful hybrid options. We only hope this model achieves the performance, refinement, and reliability to match the many strong attributes of the T33.
