Kerry Katona has blasted Simon Cowell over his money claims. Simon may not be someone you'd expect to be fretting over his bank balance, but the music mogul revealed earlier this week that he 'always' worries about money, despite his skyhigh success and staggering net worth.
'I always worry about money, because I think you have to,' said Simon, who was estimated to be worth £385 million by The Sunday Times in 2020, on a new episode of the How To Fail Podcast.
Speaking exclusively to New, Kerry had a few words for Simon after his admission: 'If I'm honest, I think that's pretty rich coming from him – pun intended! He's a multimillionaire with plenty of mansions and private jets – he'll be alright! Simon, I love you, but saying that feels out of touch. Next thing you know, he'll be on OnlyFans selling feet pics.'
Simon continued to admit that the Covid-19 pandemic left him with financial woes, Simon continued to tell podcast host Elizabeth Day: 'I remember reading it for the first time on a website and I don't read a lot of stuff on social media, but I'd heard about it.
"So I was curious and the second day, the story got bigger to a point where I actually phoned one of my partners and I said, I don't like the look of this, I have a horrible feeling it's gonna be like that movie contagion. I think we need to get all of our shows into production around the world quicker this year."
He added: "And we did. And when it happened, it was, obviously worse than I could have imagined, but when you think about that, the wars and everything else, the instability, what is safe? I mean, was it gold cash stock? I don't think anything is safe any longer.'
Simon, who has been in the industry for over four decades, says he now follows the advice to 'live in your money' and enjoy it, but is also aware of it being precarious.
While he might be aware of the riskiness of his capital, it doesn't mean Simon has been one to scrimp - boasting lavish homes across the world, including an £8M Cotswolds mansion, flashy cars and a reported private jet on standby.
But not one to let the lifestyle get to his head, the Britain's Got Talent creator is the first to call himself 'obnoxious'. Recalling one incident several decades ago, Simon said, 'I do remember one time I was driving in my Porsche. I had long hair.
"The top was down and I passed this pub, and I remember someone shouting 'you w*nker!' and I went, actually, you are right. I am a w*nker.'
Simon, who is now a dedicated dad to ten-year-old son Eric, added that he has everything he needs now and doesn't yearn for more money or flashy expenditures these days.
He is currently appearing on screen on Britain's Got Talent, joining judges Alesha Dixon, Bruno Tonioli and Amanda Holden.

While plenty of 20-somethings would jump at the chance for sun, scandal and a six-figure influencer deal, Jenny says Connie is cut from a different cloth entirely - and so is her youngest, Pollyanna. 'Connie posts on Instagram about once a year. Do you know what I mean? She's not that person. And therefore I don't think she would even realise the pressure and the attention she'd get. I think I'd worry for her.' Jenny says she's proud Connie didn't get swept up in the showbiz circus, and reckons her grounded attitude comes from a solid upbringing - and the knock-on effects of a tough few years during the pandemic. 'I just think we don't realise in this day and age, even though all these young people, they've got this facade, they're all so confident and look a certain way and all that stuff. But actually, I think there is a huge fragility in these past couple of generations, especially ones that have been through shit through COVID.' 'I mean, you know, for her, she got a degree on her own, sitting in a room. Those amazing uni years at UCL, which is up there with Oxford, and UCL's major. She's got three A stars. Connie worked at Maddox Galleries in Mayfair.' 'Now, she decided she's done enough there. Then she's gone to Knight Frank, shares a flat with her friend from Manchester. She's got a lovely boyfriend. She's very old school. Old soul. They both are. I think it will help them through these times, because they're not great times.' While Connie is not the only daughter of a famous British celebrity to be associated with the show, Princess Andre, 18, was also rumoured to be entering the villa but dad, Peter, quickly turned down those rumours. In his exclusive weekly column about the rumours that eldest daughter Princess, who just turned 18, could be signing up to Love Island - he admits that he doesn't know where the rumours came from, and says at 17 she can't legally apply yet anyway. He says: "There's been a lot of talk about Princess going on Love Island, and I don't know where it came from. She's not 18 yet, so it's not even an option." He adds that, though he would support her if she wanted to sign up to the ITV2 show, it's not something he'd ever choose for her. "Whether she chooses to do it in the future is up to her, but of course it's every dad's nightmare. Then again, I look at people like Molly-Mae Hague and Tommy Fury, and others, and see how happy they were in their relationships that came from the show. It's about what makes Princess happy at the end of the day. I wouldn't stop her, but if she asks my opinion, I'll be honest." In a recent episode of her podcast, Katie Price revealed that she has tried to encourage her daughter Princess Andre to sign up for competition show Love Island. However, the model and entrepreneur has tellingly responded that she doesn't want to be known as a 'Love Islander'.

The singer, 33, and the music mogul, 65, have developed a good friendship over the years with Simon even walking Lucy down the aisle at her wedding to Emilia Smith. But contacting Simon doesn't come easy as the former X Factor star admitted he doesn't have his own mobile phone. Speaking to The Sun, she said: 'I speak to Lauren all the time. But Simon hasn't got a phone so I speak to him when she's on the phone!' However, Lucy and her wife have stayed with Simon and Lauren in their luxurious homes in LA and the Cotswolds on several occasions and they've even gone on holiday to Barbados together. Lucy recalled: 'He read a poem at our ceremony, which was cute. And he said to me, 'I love seeing you this happy'. On why she decided to reveal the truth 11 years on, Lucy confessed: 'It was scary for sure, it was terrifying, but I knew that if I put it out there - everything - there was absolutely nothing I have to hide from. 'People picked up on that and they said "thank you for talking about this thing, or that thing, because it made me feel really full of shame, and I haven't got any shame about anything". 'And I think that's a nice place to be.' Simon later reached out and apologised for how she was treated on the ITV show, with Lucy then admitting: 'His apology healed a part of my being that I didn't know needed healing.' Asked how it felt receiving the apology, she mused: 'I think whether forgiveness is easy or not depends on the person. 'It's a lot easier to forgive somebody when they apologise, and that's something that's really big for me. I do a lot of work on forgiveness in general. 'They say like hating people is like drinking poison and waiting for the other person to die. 'Truly in my life right now, there is nobody that I don't forgive and there's nobody that I don't wish, peace and health for in this world.' Lucy, who was previously married to Georgina Gordon before their split in 2019, told how she and Emilia have no plans to have children. Married life has inspired her music, witt the title of her latest album inspired by her love story. Discussing her relationship with her wife, she recently told MailOnline: 'We'd been friends for like 10 years. Then at the same time we looked at each other and thought "I'm in love with you." 'Then I wrote the song Other Sides Of The Moon and it's about looking at the same moon. 'We'd been looking at the same moon all the time, but we were just on other sides of it. Now we're on the same side.'

Homes Under The Hammer star 'failed on every level' with £500k pub rennovation
Martin Roberts has admitted he drastically underestimated the time and cost of his latest project, with his deadline of two years up and half a million spent on a derelict pub Homes Under The Hammer star Martin Roberts admits he has "failed on every level", after he underestimated how challenging it would be to renovate a derelict South Wales pub. The former I'm A Celebrity contestant, 61, bought the Hendrewen Hotel in Rhondda in 2023, and invested half a million to revamp the rundown boozer. Not far from his own farmhouse, renovation guru Martin wanted to help the local community, which he said had "lost their heart". But he has now admitted he had completely misjudged how much time and money it would take. Having originally estimated it could be done in two years at the cost of £500,000, Martin has already gone over his deadline and the makeover is nowhere near finished. He admits it has been 'challenging', and has only been motivated to get through thanks to his team of 15-17 year olds, who have been working with his tradesmen. Martin hoped it would give them practical skills to use when they leave education, having chosen a pub in one of the most deprived areas in the country. The reality TV star wanted to give the kids a "step up the ladder" to help them get jobs when they finish, as well as planning to employ 30 locals when his project is finally complete. Speaking to the Sun, Martin explained how he felt like he'd failed. He told the paper: "For a man who spends all his time telling people to make sure they stick to their budgets and timescales, I have failed on every single level. "I'm still smiling but, oh my word, what a challenge it's been, I'll be honest, it's the first commercial property I've ever done. There have been lots of residential houses and flats, but commercial properties have a lot more complications, I'd say we are 60 per cent there." Martin's vision for his hotel includes an eight-bedroom establishment, with each of the rooms having a television theme. He plans to have Fawlty Towers, A Question of Sport and Homes Under The Hammer themed accommodations, paying homage to the show he's presented for more than 20 years. The TV star previously told WalesOnline: "I often act a bit on gut instinct, and possibly don't always tell my wife because sometimes I think there's a danger I will be talked out of things because they appear daft on the surface, I only sort of mention it when it's too late!' He added: 'I've never run a pub, I've never run a restaurant, and I've never run a hotel. So, hey, what could possibly go wrong?!" Martin's idea for his new venture came after he had emergency surgery and suffered a terrifying health scare after he suffered chest pains. He thought he had COVID, but when he was hospitalised, medics told him he had pericardial effusion - a build up of fluid around his heart. Doctors warned him that he could only have hours to live if he didn't go in for the op. He told Metro: "It was a bit of an eye-opener to be honest, being three hours from death, that's always going to ruin your day. "I was told to slow down and really take things easy… so I bought a pub which needed complete renovating and which I've got try and run, having no experience of running a pub, restaurant or a hotel. It suddenly makes you realise how fragile we all are in lots of ways."
