Spine-Tingling FBI Season 7 Finale Leaves [Spoiler]'s Life in Limbo

FBI front man Zeeko Zaki had told us that the Season 7 finale was a 'very different' episode of the CBS procedural, and that it'd end with a 'cliffhanger' — and he told no lies.

'A New Day' opened with Jubal (Jeremy Sisto) meeting with a whistleblower named Kevin (Big Bang Theory vet/upcoming spinoff star Kevin Sussman) at a secret FBI intake facility (that I'm 90% sure was used as a consulate in The Night Agent Season 2). Alas, before Kevin could say much more than Forefront (the terrorist group Jubal dealt with at midseason) was planning an attack on the FBI office, Forefront operatives stormed the building, guns a-blazing. The cold open left us thinking that Jubal had been shot dead as well, but after the credits we saw that he'd only been wounded, and now was darting down the street to find some bandaging.
After ducking into a bodega, Jubal found himself face to face with an FBI agent claiming to offer help, but she turned out to be a Forefront mole — meaning, they have cunningly infiltrated the bureau. Jubal got into a struggle with this agent, and wound up shooting her dead. Afterwards, he was grilled back at the office by ADIC Reynolds (Ben Shenkman), who had to wonder if Jubal himself had been leveraged into joining Forefront. We in turn were led to suspect that Reynolds was actually the sus one.
Ill-fated whistleblower Kevin left behind a USB drive that led Jubal's team to discover that any bureau cell phones issued in the past month were at risk of being rigged with an explosive. Soon enough, booms were heard within the building. Isobel (Alana de la Garza) was meeting with/confronting Reynolds when his phone blew up in their faces. Maggie (Missy Peregrym) arrived at Reynolds' office immediately after, then hid around a corner when Reynolds' boss, Keane (hey, it's Campbell Scott!), showed up with an FBI agent to survey the damage. Eavesdropping, Maggie confirmed that Keane is leading the Forefront operation there at their office!
Both Reynolds and Castille were reported dead to JOC, but — after an agonizing few minutes where we too were asked to mourn Isobel — we saw that the latter in fact had survived. A bruised, bloodied Isobel revealed herself to the team in a defunct subway station meet-up location, after Keane ordered JOC to turn in their guns and badges and disband. With Maggie confirming Keane's complicity, it was decided that the JOC gang — Taylor, Lim and Moran included! — would arm themselves best they could and lie in wait. An alive Isobel in turn revealed herself to Keane, pretended to want in on Forefront, and snitched on JOC's whereabouts to prove her disloyalty. Keane dispatched agents to take out JOC at the subway station, but they got picked off one by one by OA (Zaki), Scola (John Boyd) et al.
Afterwards, Isobel showed up at the JOC office with police to arrest Keane, having 1) secretly recorded their meeting from earlier, and 2) secured testimony from his lead henchman.
Some time later, Jubal rallied and cheered the troops back inside HQ, then turned the floor over to Isobel to relay her own kudos. But early into her speech, Isobel began repeating herself, then scrambling her words. She then paused, clearly addled, and collapsed to the floor. Maggie raced to Isobel's side and found no pulse, beckoning the others to call 911….

FBI operation arrests 244 child predators
SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — An FBI operation in North Texas ended with 244 people being charged and arrested for crimes of child pornography and sex trafficking, according to a CBS News article. DSS asking for input on 10% TANF cut Officials report that the success of Operation Soteria Shield led to 109 children being rescued from exploitation. The operation began in April, and 70 law enforcement agencies were involved in capturing the criminals. 'This was not an easy operation, but a necessary one. The FBI and our law enforcement partners will continue to protect the children in our communities, and we will hold child predators accountable for their crimes,' said FBI Dallas Special Agent R. Joseph Rothrock in a press conference. In a Facebook post, Dallas FBI posted photos of those arrested. According to an official FBI report, terabytes of child abuse sexual content were seized in addition to the arrests. Authorities said that the sex offenders rarely met their victims in person, instead using technology to push children into sending explicit pictures and videos. The head of the Dallas FBI office noted that social media isn't the only method sex offenders use, but online gaming systems as well. While the operation successfully took hundreds of child predators out of the equation, authorities say it's a year-round problem, urging families to use parental controls on devices, and be aware that there are many more still out there. 'The trauma inflicted by these crimes runs deep, affecting not only the victims, but also their families and entire communities. With every arrest made and every child protected, the operation moves us closer to a safer community.' said Garland Police Chief Jeff Bryan in an FBI report. Minnesota shooting suspect and wife were ‘preppers,' FBI affidavit says
Hours after a Minnesota state lawmaker and her husband were fatally shot in their home, Vance Boelter, the man charged by authorities for the killing, texted his wife instructions to prepare for the worst, according to an affidavit unsealed on Friday. Boelter had sent a message in their family group chat stating 'something to the effect of they should prepare for war, they needed to get out of the house and people with guns may be showing up to the house,' FBI agent Terry Getsch wrote in the affidavit. Getsch added that Boelter and his family were 'preppers' — people who go to extreme lengths to prepare for catastrophic events that could require survival skills and stockpiles of supplies.

Bongino announces FBI apprehended 449 child predators, rescued 224 kids in first 3 months as deputy director
FBI Deputy Director Dan Bongino announced on Saturday that during his and Director Kash Patel's first three months in office, the agency conducted large-scale sex predator operations, made multiple foreign intelligence and FBI "most wanted" arrests, and aided partners in immigration enforcement. In an X post, Bongino said two child sex predator stings resulted in the rescues of hundreds of children. Operation "Restoring Justice" apprehended 205 child sex predators and 764 purveyors, while rescuing 115 children, he said. A separate venture, Operation "Soteria Shield," resulted in the apprehension of 244 child predators, and 109 children were rescued. "This is just the beginning," Bongino wrote in the post. "If you're preying on children, we are coming for you." He added the FBI was making process on a number of high-profile cases, including the COVID-19 cover-up, the Dobbs leak, and the DNC pipe bomb investigation, and located and apprehended three of the FBI's top ten "most wanted." Bongino said "multiple" foreign intelligence targets engaged in illegal activities were also arrested. Amid the accomplishments, he said numerous personnel changes were made to the leadership of the FBI and the agency reorganized its structure to ensure the mistakes of the past are corrected, penalized and not repeated. "We are remaining hyper-vigilant in protecting the Homeland given the current global climate, while we deal with investigations related to the rioting, the Washington DC murders, the Palm Springs bombing, the Boulder attack, the Minnesota murders, and our daily case work," according to Bongino. The FBI also apprehended, imprisoned, and deported thousands of illegal immigrants in coordination with federal partners. More than 700 anti-ICE riot arrests were made in coordination with state and federal agents, as the FBI poured through data in pursuit of more bad actors. "We are not done," Bongino said. "We are in the process of identifying and moving in on those who threw rocks at law enforcement officers and damaged property. I told you we would not forget. I wasn't kidding. . . . We told you that the rioting was not going to slow us down. It has not. We are fully engaged." Though the FBI acknowledges there is more work to be done, he said to stay tuned on disclosures and the public corruption fronts. "For those who have been patient with us, thank you," Bongino said. "For those who are out of patience, thank you, too. Believe me, we understand. God bless America, and all those who defend Her."
