How to remember 2024-25

That Nottingham Forest and their supporters were disappointed at missing out on a place in the Champions League speaks volumes about the strides the club has taken over the past 12 months.
The final whistle at the weekend brought with it a strange mix of feelings. While celebrating European football returning to the City Ground for the first time in a generation and acknowledging the efforts of a small, ultimately too-thin squad in taking the behemoths of English football all the way in the race to finish in the top five, it did feel a little flat.

Being one equaliser away from the Europa League undoubtedly hurts, as does not claiming an extra couple of points somewhere along the way that would have meant Champions League football.
But this season will be remembered as the best in 30 years, with some huge landmarks along the way such as being the first Premier League team ever to double their points tally year-on-year and the first Forest team ever to win at Anfield and Old Trafford in the same season.
Beating Liverpool was also their first win at Anfield in 55 years.
There was the huge win over Brighton, a golden glove for the excellent Matz Sels, a monumental first season in English football for player of the season Nikola Milenkovic, some remarkable goalline clearances (Murillo and Harry Toffolo spring to mind!), 20 goals for Chris Wood, a first FA Cup semi-final since 1991, and for the travelling fans, 10 away wins.

For context, across their previous three seasons in the top flight, they had won nine.
All this for a team and a club widely tipped to be relegated by a number of high-profile pundits ahead of the season. Even the most optimistic Forest fan might have struggled to see a top-half finish, and now they have a European campaign to prepare for.
An interesting summer lies ahead because the current squad struggled with a whole season of Premier League football. Ultimately, it was half a dozen games too thin as fatigue and injuries kicked in.
As they try to develop further for next season, depth would have been needed - even without Thursday nights across Europe to consider!

Netherlands midfielder Danielle van de Donk joins London City Lionesses from Lyon
London City Lionesses have completed the signing of midfielder Danielle van de Donk from Lyon. The former Arsenal player, 33, joins the newly-promoted side ahead of their first season in the Women's Super League (WSL) after four years at Lyon. Advertisement The Netherlands international has signed a two-year contract that runs until 2027. Van de Donk said: 'It's just such a nice environment to be in, the club really appeals to me, it reminds me of a little family, and I want to be a part of it! 'The project that London City have, it's different but in a good way. London City have to battle for everything, and that's my style.' The transfer sees Van de Donk move between two Michele Kang-owned clubs, after the U.S. businesswoman completed the purchase of London City in February 2024. After beginning her career in the Netherlands, Van de Donk joined Arsenal in 2015 and had six successful years in north London, winning three trophies including the WSL title in 2018. Advertisement Shen joined Lyon in 2021, where she won three league titles and the Champions League in 2022. The midfielder has also made 167 appearances for the Netherlands, winning the European Championship in 2017. When asked about returning to play in the WSL, she said: 'I was there for six years, and it was very good. I loved it and saw no hesitation in coming back. It's a good league; the stadiums are full, and hopefully we can get more and more fans here too. I'm so excited to meet all of the fans, and I promise that I'll give 100% if you do the same for us.' London City Lionesses won promotion to the WSL for the first time last season by topping the Championship. 'A Marquee Signing' This is a marquee signing for London City Lionesses and shows they are prepared to spend big to attract names. Advertisement The aim seemingly is to build their brand and boost attendances in their maiden WSL season. It comes as a surprise that Van de Donk, a statement name in women's football with a Champions League winner's medal to her name and four league titles with Arsenal (one) and Lyon (three), has made the switch. But Kang's vision has evidently appealed to the 33-year-old versatile midfielder who will bring plenty of experience to the newly promoted team. This article originally appeared in The Athletic. Report – Inter Milan Inquire About £40M Rated Man United & England Star
Inter Milan have reportedly inquired about the availability of out-of-favour Man United striker Marcus Rashford. This according to UK outlet Manchester Evening News. They report, however, that any deal would have to be on loan, and that the Englishman's wages could pose a problem. Advertisement Inter Milan have been in talks with Manchester United in recent weeks. Initially, the Nerazzurri had shown an interest in signing Red Devils striker Joshua Zirkzee. However, they then turned their attention to another former Serie A forward, Rasmus Hojlund. By all accounts, Hojlund is a top target for the Nerazzurri in attack this summer. However, reports Manchester Evening News, there's yet another United striker who Inter have also sounded out a move for. (Photo by) According to Manchester Evening News, the Nerazzurri asked United about the availability of Marcus Rashford this summer. Advertisement There is certainly little doubt that the Europa League finalists will aim to offload the 27-year-old this summer. Rashford had spent the second half of last season on loan with Aston Villa. And he is still not in the plans of Manchester United coach Ruben Amorim. Manchester Evening News report that United are resigned to the fact that they'll likely have to loan Rashford out this summer, rather than selling him outright. The outlet anticipate that the Red Devils value Rashford at around £40 million. Inter have sounded out whether there would be scope for a loan deal in their talks with United. One issue for the Nerazzurri would be Rashford's wages, however. The England international earns £325,000 net per week at Old Trafford.

Inter Milan & Italy Star Loses Temper With PSG Fans: 'Don't Take The P*ss With Me' Inter Milan defender Francesco Acerbi lost his temper with a group of PSG fans, taking a threatening tone during an autograph session. An Instagram video captures the moment that the 37-year-old burst out 'don't take the p*ss with me' before telling a fan he'd 'punch' them. This is a rare opportunity for many fans to greet the players. Inter Defender Francesco Acerbi Threatens PSG Fans: 'Don't Take The P*ss, I'll Punch You!' (Photo by) At one autograph session, Inter defender Francesco Acerbi encountered fans of Paris Saint-Germain. PSG are the team that battered Inter 5-0 in the Champions League final last month. And evidently, Acerbi did not appreciate the reminder – and some taunts from one fan in particular. A PSG fan reminded the 37-year-old of his losing battle with star winger Bradley Barcola. 'Don't take the p*ss with me!' he replied. 'France are top, sure. But Barcola-Acerbi, no.'
