Sombre Chris Brown pictured arriving at court to enter plea over GBH charge

Daily Mirror17 hours ago

Chris Brown returned to court today to enter a plea over an alleged assault in a London nightclub.
The R&B singer, 36, will appear at Southwark Crown Court, London, today for a plea and trial preparation hearing.
He is accused of causing grievous bodily harm to Abraham Diaw in February 2023. Brown will be joined by Omololu Akinlolu, 38, a US national, who is also charged with grievous bodily harm with intent in connection with the incident.
Brown was initially remanded in custody, but he was later granted bail last month under the condition that he pay a a £5 million security fee to the court. The fee is a financial guarantee to ensure a defendant returns to court and may be forfeited if they breach bail conditions.
Chris Brown has arrived at Southwark Crown Court.
The 36-year-old donned a navy three-piece suit and buckled black and white shoes as he somberly made his way into court.
Chris Brown is accused of using a bottle to cause bodily harm to music producer Abe Diaw during a night out at London's Tape nightclub in Mayfair on February 19, 2023. Brown was arrested at the Lowry Hotel, Salford, on May 15 after jetting into nearby Manchester Airport to rehearse for his upcoming Breezy Bowl XX 20th anniversary tour.
Speaking earlier this month, Deputy Chief Crown Prosecutor for CPS London North, Adele Kelly said: "We have authorised the Metropolitan Police to charge Chris Brown, 36, with one count of grievous bodily harm, contrary to section 18 of the Offences Against the Person Act 1861.
"The alleged incident occurred in London on February 19, 2023. He will have his first court appearance on Friday, May 16 at Manchester Magistrates' Court. The Crown Prosecution Service reminds all concerned that criminal proceedings against this defendant are active and that he has the right to a fair trial.
"It is extremely important that there should be no reporting, commentary or sharing of information online which could in any way prejudice these proceedings."
The alleged incident occured at Tape nightclub in Hanover Square in London's Mayfair, on Sunday, 19 February 2023.
The boujie nightclub, which was recently mentioned on ITV2's Love Island, can set patrons back £1,000 to £3,000 if they want to book a table. It mainly operates as a private members club, but non-members are also able to attend as guests.
It's best known for playing house and R&B music and welcomes some of the top artists from around the world.
Tape, unsurprisingly, abides by a very strict dress code, which includes no sunglasses, man bags, shorts on men, hot pants sportswear of enything that is too casual or revealing.

Olivia Bowen shows off her growing baby bump as she shares candid insight into final weeks of her pregnancy - ahead of welcoming daughter with husband Alex

Pregnant Olivia Bowen showed off her blossoming bump on Friday, just weeks ahead of welcoming her baby daughter. The Love Island star, 31, already shares son Abel, two, with husband Alex who she famously met in the ITV2 villa, took to her Instagram with a radiant selfie. Olivia displayed her bump in a casual bralette and joggers as she shared candid insight into her final weeks of pregnancy. She captioned the snap: 'She's so high now right up in my lungs'. Last month Olivia posted a sweet clip from her family of three as they enjoyed their last holiday before the birth. It looked like a truly relaxing trip, with the trio appearing to be spending the majority of their time at the beach. Oivia wrote: 'Another trip to Spain - the last one before baby girl comes, and next we'll return as a family of four to our own villa out here - never felt so lucky.' The stunner wore a colourful bikini for the beach trip, accessorising with a pair of dark sunglasses while her husband and son wore beige swimming trunks. In another snap with Alex, Olivia showed off more of her extensive summer wear collection, this time wearing a blue bralet that comfortably sat above her growing bump. The star kept it cool on the trip too, covering up with a black and white mesh sundress as she cuddled Alex and Abel on a lounger. Olivia announced that she was expecting in February of this year and has been keeping fans updated with her pregnancy. Sadly, it has not been smooth sailing for the family as Olivia was expecting twins, but sadly lost one of her babies eight weeks into her pregnancy. She made the revelation on Loose Women, where she recounted their tragic experience of vanishing twin syndrome. The couple were told they were having twins just before Christmas, when they attended an early six week scan. Olivia told the panel: 'We went super early, I'm quite an anxious person anyway. When we turned up, we had our friend in the back of the car because we thought everything would be normal. 'As soon as we sat down I saw two babies and not one, I was floored by that. I have twins in my family and as soon as we found out I was already nervous as we've not had a great history of twins in our family.' The Love Island star broke down in tears as she revealed: 'One of the babies just basically didn't have a heartbeat but I'd had no symptoms, no pain, no bleeding to tell me that was what we were walking into. We were floored, we were expecting to have these two little babies.' The star had experienced vanishing twin syndrome, which occurs when one twin passes away in the womb and 'vanishes' and studies suggest happens in roughly 36% of twin pregnancies. Olivia heartbreakingly revealed that 'the one beautiful part of it' is that the babies do 'absorb back into your body' and that's what the couple have been 'holding onto'. The reality star continued: 'The baby had completely absorbed into my body at 14 weeks, just completely gone which is tremendously sad knowing they're still in there. 'I am so lucky to have experienced that moment of possibly having twins, it's something that not everyone gets to feel so even having those two little babies at that time.' Alex then emotionally chimed in with: 'I built this scenario up in my mind, I was thinking of the future. 'I thought it was 100% happening and I had come to terms with it. I never really had a big family, I'm an only child and have no contact with my dad so it was an amazing thing for me.'

Pokémon North American International Championships 2025 report

The final national stage of the Pokémon championship season has ended with a tense showdown between US and Canadian teams. Pokémon competitive play reached fever pitch at this year's North America International Championships (NAIC), which was held in New Orleans last weekend and saw record numbers of competitors. The event is a vital checkpoint for Pokémon pros en route to the 2025 World Championships, and is the last chance for competitive Pokémon players aiming for the World Championships, to be held in Anaheim Californian in August. The fact that the Grimmsnarl ex deck – with its spooky VooDoo green and purple card art – from the new and extremely popular Destined Rivals set was the talk of the meta couldn't have been more fitting for The Big Easy. The Pokémon World Championships began in 2004 and focused primarily on the Pokémon Trading Card Game (TCG), but it has since grown to include dedicated competitions for Pokémon video games, such as Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, Pokémon Go, and Pokémon Unite. Every year, as a precursor to what is known to competitors as Worlds, Pokémon players from around the globe battle it out for the chance to earn championship points for both the TCG and Video Game Championships (VGC). I spoke to Chris Brown, Director of Global Esports and Events Producer at The Pokémon Company International, on how to make these events easily accessible to viewers at home: 'New for this event we have, for the first time, built in closed captions, but not just closed captions in English, we've also generated them in French, Italian, German, and Spanish. 'I think that's super important too, because it makes the game more accessible. Maybe you start to play again as you're watching somebody play online, you start to feel like you're almost in one community with them. 'We're constantly playing with those things and trying to evolve. Going past that, we have things like Twitch drops, viewer rewards… we've given a little carrot out there for you maybe to load the game up and bring somebody back into the game who hasn't played it for a little while. We're constantly playing with those things and trying to evolve the viewership and the at-home experience for our fans.' NAIC 2025 saw over 6,2000 competitors, registered from over 50 countries (including 40 from the UK), in what is now the largest Pokémon tournament outside of Asia. In these highly competitive tournaments, each game has its own format and set of rules, including different divisions for pros, seniors, and juniors. Cash prizes are determined based on the amount of players in each tournament, with a prize pool of over $500,000 (£371,000). In order to qualify for the Pokémon TCG World Championships, a player must earn an invitation by gaining enough championship points by the end of the competitive season, through placing high enough or winning official Pokémon tournaments. After a busy initial two days of competitive play, Sunday saw an early start for the MOBA style Pokémon Unite and the Final Stretch competition, where Team Luminosity (Canada) did it again in their third win in a row this year and one of the most brutal eSports matches I've ever seen. The score at one point was 1,231 to 11 and sometimes it looked personal between these two North American teams. Sean 'Slash' Tucker, captain of Luminosity, told me: 'It's incredible to win all three ICs so fa,r for Pokémon Unite, but we're not done making history.' Things slowed right down for the final of Pokémon Go, which came down to a best of five featuring two North American players: 'Unstoppable' Ilqm and ItsAXN – with the Lapras vs. Lapras showdown we all wanted to see. Former World Champion ItsAXN proved superior, with a 3-0 sweep to become the first Pokémon Go trainer to win two international competitions. From the kitchen table to the TCG Juniors Final, things took an adorable and unique turn with two siblings, Annabelle and Kenji Oono, facing off after a special family handshake. Dragapult ex reigned supreme with Annabelle beating her brother but giving him a consolatory hug. I spoke to Annabelle just after her win: 'It felt amazing, it felt like a dream because it's just so hard to get to this goal and it felt like we've both won.' TCG Masters saw championship staple Gardevoir ex come to the fore, as two North American players went head-to-head. Riley McKay vs. Isaiah Bradner was extremely close, as they pulled out plenty of Munkidori for psychic damage with VooDoo Mind Bend and Adrena-Brain abilities. Bradner pushed for the win, combining consistency, tech utility, and matchup resilience, which should serve as a blueprint for top-tier players heading into Worlds. In an exciting turn of events for European competitors, the Masters video game final was completely dominated by Italian players this year. While Marco took early terrain control, ultimately Frederico Camporesi, with his fairy electric Miradion/Lunala core, took the championship with another Miraidon win and an impressive prize of $15,000 (£11,000). So, this year strangely enough a European won the North American Championship, and an American won the European Championship. I spoke to Rose Gregson, in attendance from the UK and competing in TCG Masters, who ranked in the top eight at the Latin America International Championships. 'The Pokémon TCG community is gaining an incredible amount of new players very quickly, and I believe the Pokémon company is doing a good job of matching those expectations,' she said. 'Something that would support players of all levels would be the official Pokémon company hiring pro players to create educational content in how to improve at the game for the official channel, such as the recent WolfeyVGC and Cybertron collaboration stream they did for the VGC Grand Challenge. 'A similar idea on the official Pokémon stream would be during stream downtime to get players to review their own official stream matches, so they can walk through why they made the decisions they did. From the meta continuously evolving in a positive direction, I have hope that the three-prize Pokémon won't be as good as they previously were, however only time can tell from if they have learnt from past mistakes.' 'My favourite Pokemon currently is between Jolteon and Origin Form Magearna, however it changes all the time, with Gardevoir and Palafin in a close second!' During the event, there was a chance for North American players and spectators to visit the pop-up Pokémon Center, which was themed around the Year of Eevee celebration and packed with those keen to get their hands on some exclusive merchandise featuring Psyduck and Ogerpon. Personally, I was saving my pennies for the Worlds retro style merch, featuring a 1950s drive-in aesthetic. More Trending In addition to the Pokémon Center pop-up store, there were big queues for the origami workshop, board game area, and Play Lab – which allowed fans and visitors to learn the basics of the Pokémon Trading Card Game, and which for taking part you received a beautiful Glaceon pin. It's going to be a busy summer for trading card games, Star Wars Unlimited Galactic Championships is just around the corner, held for the first time in Las Vegas this July, and Disney's Lorcana World Championship is just a couple of weeks away, at the end of June. It's being held at Walt Disney World but is somewhat of a low-key affair, with only the 28 qualifying players invited and no public or press invites. There's nothing low key about Pokémon these days though, from the spectacular opening ceremony of NAIC, which showcased the best of Mardi Gras, to the increasing global recognition. Now all the Worlds slots have been filled, and the metagame continues to evolve, as the fierce matches, breakout decks, and format defining plays have finally paved the road to Anaheim. Newly-single Elma Pazar shows off her sizzling figure in a tiny pink bikini as she parties with Chloe Ferry and Liberty Poole at Shein event in Ibiza

Newly-single Elma Pazar turned heads in Ibiza on Friday as she partied alongside Chloe Ferry and Liberty Poole at a glamorous Shein event at O Beach. It comes just hours after MailOnline revealed that the TOWIE star, 32, has split from her Love Island boyfriend Sammy Root after just four months of dating. The pair, who both appear on The Only Way Is Essex, are said to have filmed 'raw and emotional' scenes for the upcoming series, which are due to air later this year. Wasting no time dwelling on heartbreak, Elma jetted off with a bunch of stars to the White Isle with fashion giant Shein. For the Takeover event at the celebrity hot spot, she made sure to show Sammy, 24, what he's missing as she donned a skimpy baby pink bikini that flaunted her enviable figure. The reality star paired it with a matching sheer mesh skirt and added inches to her slender frame with a pair of gold wedges. Meanwhile, Chloe, 29, brought the heat in a black bikini adorned with gold hardware and mesh skirt. Liberty, 25, wowed in a baby pink floral three-piece ensemble as she showed off her stunning curves. Also at the sun-soaked event were fellow Love Island stars Danica Taylor, Kaz Crossley, and Samantha Kenny. Elma and Sammy, who reached the ITV2 final in February, recently ended their romance, leaving just one relationship formed on the latest All Stars still going strong. MailOnline understands that Sammy and Elma ended their four-month relationship over rows which took place in Portugal during filming of the latest TOWIE series. Their flirtation began on the ITVBe show but Elma insisted ahead of returning to Love Island in January that a romance between her and Sammy would be off the cards after she admitted to falling into the 'habit of going back to the same people.' Despite their eight-year age difference, the couple reconnected on All Stars and reached the final, missing out on the £50,000 prize fund to Gabby Allen and Casey O'Gorman, who also split earlier this year. Following recent breakups from Harriett Blackmore and Ronnie Vint, as well as Ekin-Su and Curtis Pritchard, the last remaining couple from this year's All Stars series is Grace Jackson and Luca Bish. Meanwhile, Chloe, 29, brought the heat in a black bikini adorned with gold hardware and mesh skirt A source close to the couple told MailOnline: 'Sammy and Elma have called it quits. 'They split during filming of TOWIE's latest series in Portugal and the breakdown of their relationship has been captured for the show. 'It was always a gamble, particularly on Elma's part, to pursue their romance especially even their age difference. 'Sadly, everything has now fallen apart and they're not even on speaking terms.' A TOWIE insider added: 'It's not been a straightforward split between Elma and Sammy. 'Viewers will see how they navigate their feelings, as they discuss their issues to see whether they can make their relationship work going forward. 'They have a strong connection with each other and nobody really knows what will happen with them over the coming weeks. Throughout the series, which is currently being filmed, their story features some of the rawest and emotional reality TV ever shot for TOWIE.' Sammy previously won Love Island with ex-girlfriend Jess Harding in 2023 but their relationship didn't last long. MailOnline has contacted Elma and Sammy's representatives for comment. It was reported that Jess would confront Sammy on this year's All Stars series, but she pulled out of her appearance after meeting someone new. Elma is currently enjoying time away in Ibiza with fast fashion brand Shein while Sammy shared Instagram stories from Ireland. The Essex star first appeared on series five of Love Island in 2019, strutting into the villa as a bombshell alongside Maura Higgins. She was unsuccessful in finding love during her first villa stint but fell for Sammy during the All Stars series. Elma isn't a stranger to having her relationships play out on TOWIE after previously romancing co-star James Diags Bennewith. She told MailOnline ahead of All Stars: 'I do feel ready for a committed relationship; I want a fella. I want to be with someone. To do Love Island again the second time round especially five years later now I'm so much older, to go in there with no actual real want to meet someone is very stupid and embarrassing. 'I know I want to go in there and meet someone. I am very open.'
