Customer's worldwide have had their say in ‘aviation Oscars'

Competition in the aviation industry is fierce.
From rewards points and status credits to who has the best lounges and the seats with the best pitch — naming who is on top can be tricky.
Skytrax's World Airline Awards, known as 'the Oscar's of the aviation industry,' have done just that and given the top award to Qatar Airways.
The carrier also nabbed three other gongs, Best Airline in the Middle East, World's Best Business Class and Best Business Class Airline Lounge.
Qatar Airways Group chief executive officer Badr Mohammed Al-Meer said the ninth award in a row was an 'extraordinary honour.'
'This recognition is far more than an award, it is a celebration of the passion, precision and purpose that defines who we are as an airline,' he said.
He also highlighted the 'relentless efforts across every part of the business.'
Singapore Airlines and Cathay Pacific came in second and third place respectably.
Qantas improved it's ranking from a previous spot of 24 last year, to place 14th this year, as well as taking out Best Airline in Australia/Pacific among a host of other accolades including cleanest airline and best economy onboard catering in Australia/Pacific.
Qantas Group CEO Vanessa Hudson said the awards reflect the commitment of the company and it's staff to providing a quality customer experience.
'I want to sincerely thank our incredible team of more than 29,000 people around the world, who bring such passion and pride to the work they do every single day. This award belongs to them,' she said.
The Skytrax awards are customer voted with travellers from more than 100 nationalities having their say.
There are strict protocols around the tallying of votes to ensure fairness and to discern legitimate entries from voter fraud and people voting more than once.
