San Francisco Giants pitcher Sean Hjelle, foreground, reacts after a home run by Boston Red Sox's Ceddanne Rafaela, bottom, during the sixth inning of a baseball game in San Francisco, Friday, June 20, 2025. (AP Photo/Jeff Chiu) San Francisco Giants reliever Sean Hjelle has been accused of abuse by his wife, and MLB is now investigating the allegations, according to a statement the Giants put out Saturday. According to The Mercury News, Hjelle said Saturday that he doesn't have an official comment at the moment but that he'll eventually make a statement after speaking with his agent and lawyer. Advertisement Hjelle's wife, Caroline Hjelle, posted a TikTok on Friday of her with the couple's two children. The video's caption read, "When my MLB husband abandons us on Mother's Day a week after this [video was taken] once I finally found about his affairs and stopped putting up with his abuse, so I've been raising two boys alone." The Giants said in their statement Saturday that they are 'aware of these serious allegations' and have been in contact with MLB, which is looking into the situation. 'Obviously we're aware of it,' Giants manager Bob Melvin said before the Giants' 3-2 win over the Boston Red Sox Saturday, via The Associated Press. 'He told me about it last night. We talked to MLB. At this point, it's in their jurisdiction right now so I really can't comment on it further." Advertisement Melvin also said before the game Saturday that Hjelle would be available to pitch. He didn't make an appearance, however. Hjelle, a 28-year-old righty, made his debut with the Giants in 2022. The organization drafted him in the second round in 2018. This season, Hjelle is 1-1 with a 4.66 ERA in six outings, the most recent of which took place Friday night in a 7-5 loss to the Red Sox. Hjelle was responsible for the defeat after allowing a tie-breaking home run to center fielder Ceddanne Rafaela in the sixth inning.

Dia Bell's NBA Star Dad Reacts to His Elite 11 MVP Honor
Dia Bell's NBA Star Dad Reacts to His Elite 11 MVP Honor originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The crown jewel of Texas' 2026 recruiting class is five-star quarterback Dia Bell. Bell verbally committed to the Longhorns on June 17, 2024, and has held a strong pledge ever since. The American Heritage (Fort Lauderdale, FL) product is ranked the No. 3 quarterback in the nation and the No. 1 overall prospect in Florida for the 2026 recruiting class, according to 247Sports composite. Advertisement Bell has amassed numerous accolades up to this point. The latest achievement, and perhaps one of the hardest to obtain, came this week when Bell was announced the Elite 11 Finals MVP. The Elite 11 is a highly selective competition for the top high school quarterbacks across the country. Bell demonstrated exceptional skills, poise and leadership throughout the competition. He also became the first Texas commit to win the Elite 11 MVP. Bell's father, former NBA star Raja Bell, offered a sincere congratulations to his son for winning the award amongst so many incredible quarterbacks. "A truly amazing experience getting to watch some incredible quarterbacks compete and bond," Raja Bell said. Bell was also named the 2024 Gatorade Player of the Year in Florida. He threw for 2,597 yards before suffering a season-ending lower leg injury in the Class 4A regional semifinals. Advertisement Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian has seemingly turned Austin into a quarterback factory. Aside from quarterback phenom Arch Manning, Bell may be the next up and coming name that fans will remember for the foreseeable future.
