Miami Dolphins impressed by Zach Wilson's 'supreme arm talent'

Yahoo12-06-2025

MIAMI GARDENS — Miami Dolphins coach Mike McDaniel has been impressed by the mental toughness of backup quarterback Zach Wilson, who once flamed out with the New York Jets as a No. 2 overall pick.
"He looks like a guy that has been through some s--- and found his way through it," McDaniel said on the first day of mandatory minicamp.

Wilson, 25, spent last season resetting with the Denver Broncos. He did not play though he flashed in the preseason and benefitted from working with Sean Payton.
It was a bit of a healing process, not too dissimilar from when Tua Tagovailoa emerged from the Brian Flores era with scars.
Zach Wilson has 'been through some s---,' says Mike McDaniel
"There's residuals to people just in general that have gone through things," McDaniel said. "He's come close to about as much scrutiny as one could have. You're a top three draft pick in New York City. Well, I mean I think Joe Namath figured that out and everybody else is like, well, this is a lot. But that's what I see, is a guy that is playing football with the empowerment of, 'You know what? I'm strong enough to handle anything.'"

It's hard not to miss Wilson's cannon arm in practice.
Wilson fires lasers. But playing quarterback in the NFL is obviously about much more than that.
New York Jets quarterback Zach Wilson tries to elude the pressure of Miami Dolphins defensive tackle Christian Wilkins during the first half at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, Dec. 17, 2023.
"A guy who is continually working at his craft, who has supreme arm talent, it's cool to watch him grow, particularly in our offense, because guys with arm talent always throw it late," McDaniel said. "You have a stronger arm, I'll just wait and see it. Go back to like John Elway and dudes with cannons."
Dolphins look to polish former No. 2 pick Zach Wilson
McDaniel and the staff are pushing Wilson to improve footwork, timing and rhythm.
"I'm gonna challenge the guy," McDaniel said.

Dolphins' Tyreek Hill Begs for Jalen Ramsey to Return

Dolphins' Tyreek Hill Begs for Jalen Ramsey to Return originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The latest drama in the Dolphins' Jalen Ramsey situation came from receiver Tyreek Hill earlier today. At Fanatics Fest, Hill said he's going to get Ramsey back in a Dolphins' jersey. "I'm going to hangout with Ramsey today, so I'm going to get him back. Full-court press, I'm getting him, Ramsey, back in a Dolphins jersey," Hill said. "I don't care what they say - tampering, whatever - we need Ramsey. He's a dog. He's one of the best corners in the league, man. Great leader, great teammate too, though. That's what he doesn't get a lot of credit for. We just need him on the Dolphins man." Advertisement Ramsey and Dolphins mutually agreed to find a trade partner early in the offseason. However, Ramsey remains a Dolphin with less than a month until training camp begins. This week, multiple reports and hints came out of where Ramsey landing spot could be. Ramsey followed multiple Steelers' players on Instagram, potentially indicating him ending up in Pittsburgh. Adam Schefter reported yesterday that Ramsey has interest in playing for a West Coast team, either the Chargers, 49ers or the Rams. The Rams have been heavy in the Ramsey conversation since the beginning, with the cornerback playing four years with the Rams and winning a Super Bowl. Many believed a reunion would be the perfect landing spot for Ramsey. Advertisement However, Sean McVay said it would take a lot of work to figure out a way to bring Ramsey back to the Rams. There seems to be a lot of uncertainty as to where Ramsey will be playing in 2025. According to Schefter, it'll be on the West Coast. But, Hill is going to do his best to keep Ramsey in Miami for now. This story was originally reported by Athlon Sports on Jun 21, 2025, where it first appeared.
