A Clifden jeweller who was accused of 'leaking' Ryan Tubridy's engagement news have said they had permission to share it.
O'Dalaigh Jewellers posted a photograph of the radio presenter and his now-fiancée outside their store and thanked him for choosing their shop to buy her ring in a now-deleted post.
Reps for Tubridy asked them to remove the post, which reportedly prompted the 52-year-old to announce his engagement to Dr Clare Kambamettu on his Virgin Radio UK show yesterday.

The family-run Cliden jewellers have insisted they didn't leak the news, and had permission from Tubs to do so.
On their Facebook page, one person accused them of being 'desperate for exposure.'
'It's a pity this jewellers were so desperate for exposure that they choose to tell everyone about Ryan Tubridy's engagement before he and his partner choose to and also the details of the ring.
'While they may have a great reputation… trust ,respect and privacy are what clients, regardless of who they are expect and this jewellers broke all of those so I would think twice about going to them.
'Their post was removed from Social Media but not before 'their damage' was done...pity.'
In response, the store said they were given the 'green light' to share the post over the weekend.
'As a 50-year-old business who has dealt with many celebrities including Ryan before, we are absolutely stringent about honouring personal customer information.

'We would never dream of posting anything so personal without prior permission.
'In this instance, we were given the green light to put up the post over the weekend.
'However, we wished to give the couple time to spread the word themselves, so we chose to post it 4 days later,' they continued.
'For unknown reasons we were asked to take down the post, which we promptly did.
'I know you will join us in congratulating the happy couple and focus on celebrating a beautiful moment in their lives. They are truly such a lovely couple.'
Speaking on his radio show, which is also broadcast on Dublin's Q102, the former Late Late Show host announced he got engaged while visiting the west of Ireland last week.
'I have a little bit of news that I've been keeping to myself, to ourselves,' he told listeners at the start of the show on Tuesday morning.
"I'm very, very, very happy to confirm I did get engaged to my partner Clare in the west of Ireland on Thursday evening.'
Tubridy thanked a number of listeners for sending in their well-wishes following the announcement and said 'it's a very beautiful feeling' and 'a very exciting time to be alive'.
"We were surrounded by gorgeous people who we didn't know, strangers in the hotel, and people who were working around the place and got a beautiful ring organised, and the weather was gorgeous,' he said of the couple's time last week.
"And it's just the accumulation of a lot of lovely things happening, and I just decided now is the time. More to follow in terms of details and all the rest of it. And by the more to follow, I mean I'll tell my family first.

"It's a very exciting time to be alive. I'm a very, very lucky man, and I think it's one of those beautiful moments where the world feels lighter.'
Tubridy and Dr Kambamettu, a former Rose of Tralee winner, made their relationship public in 2023 when they appeared at the Irish Post Awards in London.
He joked people had told him he had 'some tan' from his time spent on Connemara, but he had actually gone 'pink and red from sitting on a lake in Renvyle'.

Eurovision star says he considered taking his own life after mental health turmoil
'I thought we were going to be millionaires. I thought I was going to be able to buy my mother out of the council estate. I got a holiday to Crete, that's what I got.' Former Eurovision singer Joe McCaul has told how he has struggled with mental health for years and even thought of taking his own life – but is coping much better now and is engaged to his partner Mark. The brother and sister double act Donna and Joe McCaul were selected to represent Ireland at the Eurovision in 2005 in Ukraine with their song 'Love' while Joe was still just 17. However, they failed to qualify for the finals – coming 14 out of 22 in the semi-final – and Joe has told how he was ridiculed and trolled in the aftermath. 'I thought we were going to be millionaires. I thought I was going to be able to buy my mother out of the council estate. I got a holiday to Crete, that's what I got.' The Athlone man revealed his lifelong struggle with his mental health and negative side of becoming a household namewhen he spoke to Brenda Dennehy on The Comeback podcast. Donna and Joseph McCaul News in 90 Seconds - June 18th 'Remember when we didn't get in, the devastating effect that had on me. I went back to my room, I was only 17, and I struggled very hard because that was more shame, more embarrassment, more rejection. Everyone was going out, and they (Donna and the crew) went to the finals on Saturday night, I didn't go, I just stayed in my hotel room.' He said when he returned to Ireland he was ridiculed regularly. 'I think over the years, I was nearly taken advantage of. I was made an eejit out of by people, people in the media. That was hard because I was saying, 'Where is my self-worth, why can't I be assertive?' 'I found it very hard to be assertive because I didn't like conflict, and then because I didn't like conflict, if I reacted a certain way, some people would say 'Oh that was very aggressive,' So I couldn't even stand up for myself.' Joe is the youngest of six siblings and his mother raised them on her own. 'My dad, unfortunately, he's passed away a couple of years ago, but I had no kind of relationship with him. Alcoholism, unfortunately, took over his life and then he moved to London.' Joe said when a media outlet discovered his father's issue with drink it caused massive stress on the family. 'Once or twice I thought of taking my own life.' He said he had suffered recurrent intrusive thoughts about suicide from an early age. 'The intensity of it then would probably get a little more if I was under any increased stress or anything significant was happening in my life or something bad was happening… I was always terrified of the thought…I would always be going, f**k, I need to see a psychiatrist.' In 2015, X Factor producers asked him to audition for the UK show in front of Simon Cowell. He agreed, hoping it would go okay. 'I thought maybe I could have a little breakthrough here.' However, Cowell described him as an awful performer and stopped him halfway through. 'And then there was the shame, the embarrassment, the rejection, and I just wanted it to be over there.' They asked him to perform another song. He took solace from the empathy of presenter Caroline Flack, who died by suicide in 2020, after he was given another chance to perform in front of the judges. 'Caroline Flack, God love her, was with Olly Murs back then, and she was so kind to me and so nice and help me pick a song. She was even singing with me… Caroline Flack had an energy about her. She had her hand over me and it was like a way of apologising for the way I was treated. She had empathy.' Joe said it was one of the lowest moments of his life. Joe was trolled online in the aftermath. 'The s**t that was put online, I remember my friends used to be sending them to me and the horrible stuff that people were saying. I used to have to say please do not send me this, I don't want to be looking at it.' He said on the plus side he did a bit of media again in the aftermath and got a few gigs but he still 'really just wanted to forget that whole moment ever existed'. Joe revealed in 2014 that he had been diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis at the end of 2013, 'I literally just lost the plot then. I think I went on a self-destruct button that was hit. I went off the rails for months.' He said he was on medication that didn't suit him at the time but has since changed medication and is currently symptom free and in remission. He said he got back into running that has helped a lot as well as support from his partner Mark and his therapist and family and friends. 'Fitness, running, doing kind of high-intensity interval based kind of training has been my saviour. Not just for my physical heath because that's quite good but for my mental health which is an ongoing struggle that some days I'm really, really shit. But I have really good coping tools and I have a really solid support group around me.' His sister came out as gay years ago and Joe said when he told his family he was gay as well, it didn't surprise any of them. 'It was like they all kind of new. Donna was more of a shock. He said he went back studying in recent years doing a business course and a course on mental health before starting teaching in stage schools doing vocals. "...I met Mark. Mark is already a teacher. He said why don't you go back and do your teaching degree – so I went back and did my degree and I have that nearly four years now. So I am secondary school music and special educational teacher now.' Fair City star says birth of son has given him 'simpler way of looking at life'
Fair City star Ryan Andrews has told how he took no days off after the birth of his son, Rowen. The star welcomed his first child with wife Michaela on September 16 last year. Opening up about Rowen's arrival, the Dubliner said he had to rehearse 17 scenes during Michaela's labour in Holles Street Hospital in Dublin. He told us: "Rowen was born on September 16. I had to call into RTE. Michaela went a day early. I didn't sleep in three days. I had to go into the busiest week of my life on Fair City. "I had to do double scenes and at that time I used to MC the Late Late Show and we ran our stage school at three locations a week. "We were writing the Olympia panto as well. I didn't have a day off until January 16. "Michaela was in labour in Holles Street and I had 17 scenes to learn. I had the busiest two days. "Between every scene and every break, I was at home. I wasn't neglecting my family but once January came, I just realised how fast Rowen had grown up." He said since welcoming Rowen, he looks at life more simply. "He's nine months old now. Sometimes, with babies, I never listen to anybody, even my mam. Like every child, every pregnancy is different. We found our own way. "We're very lucky with him. Our whole lives have changed. It's all about Rowen now in the best possible way. "Becoming a dad has put a lot of things into perspective. I used to worry about things for no reason. "He makes us more happy than any job, or anything financial. It's a simpler way of looking at life." Ryan joked that he's already starting his son in showbusiness as Rowen was the baby in The Ferryman when he was just four months old. "We've been lucky in the industry… I would love for him to get into stage school, and I'd love him to learn because I don't remember anything from school, other than being on stage or stage school with friends." Barnardos ambassador Ryan was speaking as he took part in a 12-hour Riverdanceathon at the Gaiety Theatre in Dublin to help raise money for the children's charity. Over 580 dancers from dance schools across Ireland took part in the Riverdanceathon. Members of the Riverdance cast also joined in to start the event just before 10am on Thursday and again at lunchtime to perform three numbers from the show on the Gaiety Plaza as well as bringing it all to an end that evening. Through this partnership Riverdance hopes to raise funds and awareness for the work of Barnardos. Each year for its summer run at the Gaiety, Riverdance partners with a charity. Barnardos is Ireland's largest children's charity which helps and supports the most vulnerable children and families in society to achieve their full potential with the support of the public.
