The top 5 best-dressed at the Met Gala
With Rihanna due for another red carpet maternity leave, revealing her pregnancy in bump-hugging Marc Jacobs, it's time for Dune actor Zendaya to be acknowledged as the Met Gala's unofficial ambassador.
In a custom Louis Vuitton white suit, borrowing its silhouette from London tailor Tommy Nutter who dressed Bianca Jagger and Elton John in the '70s, Zendaya was a modern-day Diana Ross.
Rather than draw comparisons with Ross, making her first Met Gala appearance since 2003, Zendaya kept clear of the red carpet until the veteran singer's photos had been taken. This took some time, with Ross requiring eight men to assist with her feather boa-trimmed cape.
3. Colman Domingo
The pressure was on Oscar nominee Colman Domingo, following a recent red carpet run that has shown a propensity for bold colours and masculine silhouettes infused with a queer sensibility.
Domingo arrived in a dramatic blue cape that paid tribute to the late Vogue editor-at-large Andre Leon Talley before revealing a snappy pearl-embellished check zoot suit jacket from Valentino, worn with a waistcoat and grey trousers.
4. Madonna
The time has finally arrived for people to stop talking about Madonna's face and take a closer look at her style.
In a cream suit by Tom Ford's new creative director Haider Ackermann, Madonna exuded confidence that made her smouldering cigar unnecessary. White lace gloves were the only reminder of her Like a Virgin past.
5. Doja Cat
Singer Doja Cat redeemed herself from the 2022 Met Gala where she arrived dressed as Karl Lagerfeld's cat, Choupette.
The Marc Jacobs animal print bodysuit with conical cups stood out by playing with '80s imagery while Doja's peers mined the '20s and '30s.
'I've never worn anything with such a special silhouette,' Doja Cat told Vogue. 'And, thankfully, it's the most comfortable thing I think I'll ever wear to the Met Gala too!'
Honourable mentions
Sarah Snook
Fresh from earning her first Tony Award nomination for The Picture of Dorian Gray on Broadway, Australian actor Sarah Snook had a head start on this year's theme.
In a tailored black satin coat, lined in red from sustainable label anOnlyChild, Snook could have been on stage. Brooches by Rahaminov Diamonds and Saidian Vintage Jewels added a feminine touch above satin tuxedo pants.
With a swish of her frock coat, Snook was able to leave the quiet luxury and basic brown suits of her Succession character Shiv Roy far behind her.
Sydney Sweeney
Actor Sydney Sweeney's fitted Miu Miu dress with a circular cut-out at the chest and fringe detailing was about more than looking good.
Before taking to the red carpet, Sweeney posted an image to her Instagram account showing Kim Novak, star of Alfred Hitchcock's Vertigo, in a similar gown.
Loading
Sweeney is set to play Novak, who rose to fame in the 1958 Hitchcock classic, in the directorial debut of Met Gala co-chair Colman Domingo. The movie Scandalous! explores Novak's affair with Sammy Davis Jr.
See, history can be hot.
Halle Berry
Nude illusion dresses can be challenging, with Oscar winner Halle Berry facing an uphill battle in LaQuan Smith's custom black-sequinned look with sheer panels.

Star slams Madonna for disrespectful behaviour
Don't miss out on the headlines from Celebrity Life. Followed categories will be added to My News. Anthony Ramos is calling out Madonna for poor theatre etiquette. On Friday's episode of Watch What Happens Live, Ramos played a game of 'Clubhouse of Horrors,' during which host Andy Cohen asked him to name the 'most terrifying celebrity to spot in the audience' when he was performing in Hamilton on Broadway. 'The most terrifying was Madonna with her iPad in her face. She was like this the whole time,' he said, pretending to look down at an iPad. Anthony Ramos slammed Madonna on Watch What Happens Live for watching her iPad while watching Hamilton. The Hamilton star says he would have happily shown Madonna the door. 'I was like, 'Damn, shawty. If you're not enjoying it that much, you know the door's right there. You ain't gotta stay here!'' Ramos was famously part of the original cast of Hamilton, which made its Broadway debut in 2015. The actor, whose work on the musical earned him the 2016 Grammy for Best Musical Theatre Album, originated the roles of John Laurens and Philip Hamilton. Ramos said Madonna was the 'most terrifying' guest he has spotted in the crowd. Picture:for The Met Museum/Vogue To celebrate the 10th anniversary of Lin-Manuel Miranda's musical, the entire cast reunited at the 2025 Tony Awards to perform a medley of iconic songs from the play. However, fans were upset that Ramos did not have a solo in the performance. 'That was really nice that people got pissed,' he said on Watch What Happens Lives. Ramos has been nominated for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie for Hamilton at the 2021 Emmy Awards. 'They weren't even planning on me being there,' he explained. 'They cut that part, they choreographed the whole number and then I texted Lin Saturday morning like, 'Yo, is it too late to join y'all?' He was like, 'Are you serious?' I was like, 'Yeah, I'm serious.' He was like, 'You got a black suit?' I was like, 'Nah, I could get one.'' 'So, they fit me in where I could fit in,' Ramos continued. 'There was a moment for me but they had to take it out because they didn't plan on me being there.' Geena Davis hails Mission: Impossible's 'great diversity'
Geena Davis loved the "great diversity" of Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning. The 69-year-old star has admitted to being impressed by the casting choices for the action movie, which saw Tom Cruise appear alongside the likes of Hayley Atwell, Pom Klementieff, Mariela Garriga and Ving Rhames. Geena told Deadline: "Did you see the new Mission: Impossible yet? I noticed the great diversity in there, women left and right, all over the place, and people of colour and it's just normal and natural. But they clearly, in my estimation, put a lot of thought into that." Genna has been trying to make the movie industry more inclusive through her Geena Davis Institute on Gender and Media, which she founded two decades ago. The award-winning actress also oversees the Bentonville Film Festival, and Genna has explained how she approaches the issue of inclusivity. She shared: "In my institute we focus on what's on screen. And in the festival, we take into account both on screen and behind the camera. So, our directors and writers and producers are very diverse as well as [the cast] on screen." Genna thinks it's important that the film industry reflects the wider population. The Accidental Tourist star said: "It just makes sense to reflect the people that are watching the movie. "Ultimately, what I think we're trying to prove is that films with unique voices that represent the population are very commercial. Research shows that the more diversity there is on screen, the more money the movie makes. But people haven't really taken that to heart as much as they could." Walmart - the supermarket chain founded in Bentonville - actually created the Bentonville Film Festival with inclusion as its focus. And Genna has relished the opportunity to lead the festival. The Hollywood star explained: "Each department of Walmart has to come up with their sort of public outreach, public service initiative that they do. "The home video department thought, 'Hey, what if we were to have a film festival for representation, that is about representation?' And they thought that was a good idea. And then I was thought of as someone who might be — they needed to get a Robert Redford or Robert De Niro, or somebody named Robert to be the person fronting it. And they thought of me, and I came here and talked to everybody, and I really wanted to do it." The Oscar-winning actress feels proud of what she's managed to achieve with the festival in a relatively short space of time. She said: "We decided to put it on very quickly, so we only had about five months to put it all together for the first iteration. But we pulled it off and it gets bigger and better every year."

Kitchen Nightmares star Gordon Ramsay passed out as Ed Sheeran's music played during son's birth
Gordon Ramsay passed out when his son was born - as Ed Sheeran's songs played in the background. The 58-year-old TV chef was never in the delivery room for the births of his first four children - Megan, 26, fraternal twins Jack and Holly, 25, and 23-year-old Tilly - because his wife Tana Ramsay was adamant that she didn't want her husband to see her in the agony of labour, nor witness the realities of child birth. Gordon though was present when his son Oscar, six, came into the world as Tana was having their baby boy via caesarean section. But the Kitchen Nightmares star's moment of joy soon soon became a moment of panic when he feinted whilst holding the newborn, all to the soundtrack of Thinking Out Loud singer Sheeran. Appearing on the Smartless podcast, Gordon said: "Let's make one thing absolutely clear, my wife didn't want me in there. "First of all, she said, 'I want my mum and your mum in there, you're not going to see me in that state, that side of the curtain, get out of there.' That was her decision and I had to respect that decision. 'When I did final arrive in the theatre for our fifth baby I f****** collapsed like a wimp! I blacked out holding Oscar in the air. 'He was coming through the sun roof so there was a lot of commotion going on. They said, 'What do you want to listen to?' So I said, 'Can you play Ed Sheeran?' So they started playing Ed, they turned up the volume, I can hear all these noises, all of a sudden I see two more doctors dive in, I look to the floor and there was blood everywhere. They popped him out and then they came straight over to me and I went, 'Woah, woah, s***.' I sat back and I collapsed like a f****** idiot." Gordon and Tana - who also have son Jesse James, who was born in 2023 - are enjoying being parents to young children again to Oscar and his younger brother Jesse James, who was born in 2023. The three Michelin star chef has always tried to instil a work ethic in his older four children and not hand them everything on a plate just because they are fortunate enough to have wealthy parents. Gordon is very proud of the varied career paths each of his older children have taken, but he is a little disappointed that his daughter Tilly, who wants to be a chef, decided to be trained at Ireland's Ballymaloe Cookery School rather than at one of her father's restaurants. He said: "Balance is critical. Every time we were filming throughout the US the kids would come with us and then we were take them out of school two weeks early, and they put them back two weeks late, so we would do the filming schedules around the shooting schedules. 'It's a lot easier now, we had four amazing kids and then Tana and I has this crazy idea to go back for more. So there's quite a big gap. 'Megan, she's our eldest, she's 26, she's an incredible police officer back in London. Then we have the twins who are 25; Jack is a Royal Marines Commando, Holly is in to her fashion. And then there's Matilda, who is 23, who has just come back from culinary school, would you believe, a beautiful school called Ballymaloe. "I am a little bit miffed that she didn't ask me to train her and she's gone off elsewhere. She's seen the shows, that's the problem! 'You've got to give them the values, and instil those values, they can't depend on mum and dad."
