The Nomad is a totally different kettle of fish – it's a totally uncompromising off-road dragster. And the Mustang Rally? Well, it's electric for one thing…
In our video (above), we gathered all three at some of Autocar's favourite off-road locations to find out which is the King of the Hill – enjoy.

Car Deal of the Day: Vauxhall Grandland Ultimate for an unbelievable £179 a month
Range-topping Ultimate model £3 a month more than a Mokka Only £178.82 a month The Vauxhall Grandland is the largest model Vauxhall offers, and as such the British brand has thrown the proverbial kitchen sink at it in terms of technology and equipment. But, despite its grand positioning, it's one of the cheapest family SUVs around to lease. Advertisement - Article continues below Currently Leasing Options is offering the Grandland for a miniscule £178.82 a month – just £3 more than the significantly smaller Vauxhall Mokka. It's a two-year deal and requires a very modest £2,495.83 initial payment, with mileage limited to 5,000 a year. This can be bumped up to 8,000 for a pretty steep £27.95 extra a month, so this deal is better suited to lower-mileage drivers. Not only will you be getting the largest model Vauxhall sells, but also the poshest version. This deal is for the ambitiously named 'Ultimate', but it is true to its badge, because it's packed with features. Vauxhall throws in 19-inch diamond-cut wheels, a panoramic roof, a large 16-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and full matrix-LED headlights, plus LED lighting strips. The Ultimate also gets illuminated Vauxhall badges, so everyone will know how posh your car is. Under the bonnet you'll find a 1.2-litre petrol hybrid engine. With 134bhp, power isn't the name of the game here, and that also goes for the driving experience. The Grandland isn't a thrill-a-minute ride, but given that this is a family car, its supple ride and high levels of refinement are far more impressive. The Grandland is also one of the most spacious cars in the class. There are numerous storage spaces, back-seat room is plentiful, and the 550-litre boot capacity is very generous. The Car Deal of the Day selections we make are taken from our own Auto Express Find A Car deals service, which includes the best current offers from car dealers and leasing companies around the UK. Terms and conditions apply, while prices and offers are subject to change and limited availability. If this deal expires, you can find more top Vauxhall Grandland leasing offers from leading providers on our Vauxhall Grandland hub page. Toyota has electrified the chonky new Land Cruiser
Toyota has electrified the chonky new Land Cruiser Toyota adds a 48V hybrid system to its all-conquering off-roader Skip 7 photos in the image carousel and continue reading Turn on Javascript to see all the available pictures. 1 / 7 Toyota has hybridised the chonky new Land Cruiser, and straight off the bat has reassured us that "the system in no way compromises the Land Cruiser's ability to operate in extreme conditions and rough terrain". Phew. Welcome to the first electrified LC. Mildly electrified, for this be a 48V stop-start system, rather than an able-to-run-on-e-power-alone setup. It's the same version that sits in the Hilux, which means an electric motor-generator, a 48V li-on battery and a DC-DC convertor. That's all bundled up and mated to a 2.8-litre turbo-diesel four-cylinder and eight-speed automatic 'box. Advertisement - Page continues below The hybrid bit adds 16bhp/48lb ft to the LC, and charges itself via engine braking. Naturally, Toyota said overall efficiency has been improved. And because the motor-generator has been positioned high up on the engine block, Toyota said the LC "can still wade at low speed through water up to 700mm deep". It's also more compact than Toyota's full-hybrid system. Other changes include a small update to the digital display, where a new read-out will inform drivers of the engine's regen status. Toyota said the new 48V system will be bolted onto every UK car including the Land Cruiser Commercial (not an advert, but a tradey's LC), though hasn't said how much it'll cost. In any case, it'll arrive later this year. Advertisement - Page continues below Top Gear Newsletter Thank you for subscribing to our newsletter. Iconic hot hatchback with four-wheel drive FINALLY coming to UK after being sold for years outside of Europe
A HUGE Japanese car firm has hinted that it is finally bringing its rally-bred hot hatch to the UK. The long anticipated Toyota GR Corolla is expected to join the much loved GR Yaris on UK roads in the next 18-months. 4 4 With an impressive 296bhp the Corolla will enter production at Toyota's UK plant in Burnaston, Derbyshire. The motor is expected to go into production next year in a bid to satisfy lengthy waiting lists. However at present the nippy hot hatch is only built at one site in Japan with it yet to be confirmed for the European market. Toyota's European COO Matt Harrison has hinted that British fans won't be disappointed though. He spoke to Auto Express to say: 'We have a philosophy that you build where you sell, so to build in Europe and not sell in Europe would be counter to that. 'The gap between supply and demand is now, so it's about how quickly we can get it. We need to act fast.' Originally launched in 2022 the GR Corolla was only sold in selected markets outside of Europe. It boasts a minimal 1.6 litre engine but a turbo charger offers the car a healthy boost in power. With its impressive 296bhp Toyota's answer to the Golf R comes close to matching the massive 315bhp offered by the 2 litre German model. And the Toyota uses its power well, a four-wheel drive system ensures the motor uses the most of the horsepower available to it. The souped-up Toyota Corolla GR Full specs and pricing for the new Corolla are expected to be released some time next year. Until then experts are estimating the motor will be priced around the £40,000 mark. The Burnaston site was chosen as a site for manufacturing the GR Corolla because of its factory capacity. Initial demand for the motor is expected to be relatively high and the UK site can offer the capacity to meet the demand. 4 4 Not only this but the UK motorsport pedigree aligns well with the specialist nature of the hot hatch. The rally bred motor offers a specific package of specifications to motorists. It was reported earlier this year that the Japanese firm planned to invest £41 million into the Burnaston production site. The investment could see production rates at the site significantly boosted to meet the expected demand for the new GR Corolla. World's largest car maker hatching plans to invest £40million in a new assembly line in UK The world's largest car maker is planning to invest a whopping £40million for a new assembly line in the UK. The Toyota plant at Burnaston could be in line for a major investment, as the company weighs moving production for the US market from Japan to Derbyshire. The car maker plans to invest around £41million to set up a new production line dedicated to making GR Corollas, according to Reuters. Toyota has denied that Trump tariffs are behind the potential shift, despite taxes on Britain being 10 per cent compared to Japan's 25 per cent. In light of the potential move, Japanese automaker Toyota revealed that new cars could be added to the European market. Currently, the GR Corolla is only available in Japan and is exported to North America and select other markets. Burnaston plant currently produces the Corolla hatchback and estate for the UK and European markets, but production rates could significantly improve with the proposed investment. A new production line could be operational within 12 months, with reports suggesting that Japanese engineers may temporarily relocate to Derbyshire to assist with the transition.
