Giants QB Shades Shedeur Sanders in Viral Comment

Yahoo22-05-2025

New York Giants rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart may have just lit a fire under Colorado fans with his recent comments that seemed to subtly criticize Shedeur Sanders' work ethic and preparation—without ever mentioning his name.
In a post-draft interview from Sports Illustrated, Dart reflected on his intense pre-draft meetings with Giants head coach Brian Daboll, saying, 'Yeah, you better be prepared going to do a Daboll meeting, because it's intense. He definitely wants to get the most out of you. I would say, if you're not prepared, don't step into the meeting, because you're going to get grilled...So they threw all that they could at me, and I was able to handle it the best way that I could.'
At face value, the statement sounds like standard rookie humility. But context is everything. Dart's remarks came just days after ESPN and The Ringer reported that Sanders' pre-draft interview with Daboll didn't go well—due to lack of preparation. The stark contrast between Dart's praise for Daboll's demanding style and Sanders' alleged discomfort during the same process didn't go unnoticed by fans or analysts.

It's a sharp turn for Sanders, who just last fall threw for 4,134 yards, 37 touchdowns, while earning Big 12 Offensive Player of the Year honors. Once projected as a top-10 pick, the Colorado star shockingly fell to the fifth round of the 2025 NFL Draft, where he was selected by the Cleveland Browns with the 144th pick.

Analyst Todd McShay offered additional insight, revealing that two teams with top-10 picks 'didn't get the sense that Shedeur cared all that much about what [they] thought of him.' Whether fair or not, that narrative seems to be gaining traction—especially after Dart's pointed comments.
Now, Sanders finds himself in unfamiliar territory: with something to prove.

Buff Nation isn't likely to stay quiet. If Sanders needs fuel, he just got it straight from one of the quarterbacks drafted ahead of him.

Browns Must 'Pump The Brakes' On Handing The Keys to Shedeur Sanders

Browns Must 'Pump The Brakes' On Handing The Keys to Shedeur Sanders originally appeared on Athlon Sports. It's an easy but apt pun. Yes, Shedeur Sanders should "pump the brakes.'' And so should the Cleveland Browns, when it comes to the notion of handing over the franchise keys (yes, another easy pun) to a self-admitted "little boy'' who is presently a fifth-round rookie trying to work his way up from being a fourth-string quarterback. Advertisement The legendary Deion Sanders has long has it backwards when it comes to his family's audience. "Coach Prime'' - the iconic Dallas Cowboys star who is in the Hall of Famer as the greatest cover cornerback ever - often suggests that he and his sons are persecuted and picked on because of their fame ... When in fact the opposite is true. Mountains have been moved to keep the Sanders family happy and defense mechanisms from Dad have been constructed to protect the offspring and the brand. Recently, Deion said Shedeur is "a young man that has never been in trouble.'' And of course, all things are relative. Advertisement Shedeur's ticket for driving 101 mph in a 60 mph zone this week was recently noted ... and it's now been uncovered that the high-profile rookie quarterback was pulled over for the same offense on June 5 for driving 91 mph in a 65 mph zone. Additionally, according to public records, Shedeur last recently failed to appear in court for arraignment on the first speeding ticket ... right before he got the second one. None of this makes Shedeur a criminal. But in a business in which the starting QB of an NFL team is best-served by having some characteristics of a mature CEO? When Shedeur recently sort of laughed off the speeding issue by saying, "I know I be vibin', bruh ... I'm just a little boy. I made some wrong choices, personally, and I gotta own up to 'em. I made some, you know, not great choices. I learn from 'em. I learn. I learn''? Advertisement That doesn't make Shedeur qualified to lead. Not yet. Biggest picture? People who drive nearly twice the posted speed limit sometimes die - and take other lives with them. There's nothing cute about that. So when Browns watchers like Terry Pluto suggest the Browns "pump the brakes'' on going overboard with Shedeur? And when we chastise Deion (who we've known on a personal level for 33 years? The Sanders family isn't being persecuted; it's being warned that "I'm just a little boy'' does not in the long term work in football ... or in life. Related: Steelers' T.J. Denver Nuggets Nearly Made Kevin Durant Decision During Offseason

Denver Nuggets Nearly Made Kevin Durant Decision During Offseason originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Denver Nuggets are coming off a season in which they surprised many. First, it was the decision to fire head coach Michael Malone and general manager Calvin Booth just days before the end of the regular season. As a result, the Nuggets went into the playoffs with an interim head coach, David Adelman. Advertisement Some thought that the decision would prove to be a death sentence. Although still early, it proved to be the right move in the first round of the NBA Playoffs, as the team defeated the Los Angeles Clippers in seven games, who were one of the hottest teams in the NBA entering the playoffs. Downing-Imagn Images Denver Nuggets nearly made Kevin Durant decision In the second round, the Nuggets met up with the Oklahoma City Thunder. To that point, the Thunder had looked nearly invincible, making quick work of the Memphis Grizzlies in a sweep. Many believed that dominance would continue after the grueling Clippers series, but the Nuggets gave the Thunder a decent run for their money before falling short in Game 7. Advertisement The Nuggets lacked depth and top-tier talent outside of Nikola Jokic. Likely looking to make a trade in the offseason, the Nuggets were a surprise contender for the services of Kevin Durant, according to Shams Charania, before he was ultimately traded to the Houston Rockets. It's fun to imagine what such a trade package would've looked like from Denver's end. To make the salaries work, it would likely have had to involve Jamal Murray, or, more likely, Michael Porter Jr. in addition to young players like Peyton Watson, Julian Strawther or Christian Braun. Now, the Nuggets will look elsewhere to add depth to attempt to keep up in what will likely once again be a tough Western Conference. Contending next year should be Denver's top priority if they don't want to risk Jokic asking for a trade. If they can't build upon what they accomplished this season and at least get back to the Conference Finals, that's very well what could happen. Tom Brady Captures Another Title, Wins Inaugural Fanatics Games and $1M Prize

Tom Brady is a champion once again. The seven-time Super Bowl-winning quarterback won the inaugural Fanatics Games at this weekend's Fanatics Fest in New York, earning him a $1 million prize. The all-time great was among 100 celebrities, athletes and fans to compete in the Fantatics Games, which consisted of eight competitions. The eight competitions consisted of activities from different sports, such as quarterback skills, basketball shooting, soccer goal-scoring and baseball pitching accuracy, among other competitions. One of the other competitions was a WWE Superstar entrance. In his WWE Superstar entrance, Brady spat on New York Jets cornerback Sauce Gardner jersey and ripped former New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning's jersey. Manning later interrupted his entrance, jumping on top of him. That entrance helped Brady earn 399.1 total points in the Fanatics Games. Manning was also one of the athletes who participated, finishing in fifth with 314.5 total points as Brady was able to get some revenge over the quarterback who defeated him in two Super Bowls. Brady, a FOX Sports employee, collected his $1 million prize at the Javits Center on Sunday. However, he awarded $5,000 to each of the 50 fans who participated in the Fanatics Games, while the rest of that money will go to charity. Brady's participation in the Fanatics Games was just one of the few viral moments he had from Fanatics Fest over the weekend. On Friday, he struggled to pick out the real Rob Gronkowski in a group of 20 people dressed like his former New England Patriots and Tampa Bay Buccaneers teammate. On Saturday, Brady joined LeBron James, Victor Wembanyama, streamer Kai Cenat and Maverick Carter for a live taping of "The Shop." "He's always done things the right way. He's always risen above all the noise and BS and continued to deliver," Brady said of James as he sat next to the Los Angeles Lakers star. "So you're witnessing the greatest ever, and I hope you guys will appreciate that." As for the other participants in the Fanatics Games, UFC fighter Justin Gaethje finished in second with 345.5 points. He won a a Ferrari 812 GTS for his performance. Matt Dennish, a 39-year-old teacher from Pennsylvania, finished with 326 points to place third in the competition. He outscored athletes such as James Harden, Tyreek Hill, Dwight Howard, Gronkowski, Michael Chandler and Micah Parsons, who all finished in the top 20 of the athletes who competed in the event. Harden dressed as Hulk Hogan for his WWE entrance. Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow was also among the athletes who participated, struggling in the pitching accuracy competition. He finished 36th in the competition. Jacksonville Jaguars two-way star Travis Hunter had the worst showing among the athletes who competed at the event, while new Houston Rockets star Kevin Durant finished with the second-worst mark. Durant actually learned of his trade to the Rockets while he was speaking at an event during Fanatics Fest on Sunday. Want great stories delivered right to your inbox?
