Golf star reveals he considered quitting to make YouTube videos with pals after tournament win
Kristoffer Reitan considered a social-media channel before landing the ultimate clip
New hero Kristoffer Reitan pondered the You Tube golf circuit before emulating Viktor Hovland by being a Norwegian winner on the DP World Tour.
The Scandinavian star claimed his first-ever success at the level with a thrilling play-off win at the Soudal Open.
Reitan defeated Scotland's Ewen Ferguson and Dutchman Darius van Driel in extra-time in Belgium to claim a maiden win on the Tour.
The 27-year-old won the Rolex Challenge Tour Grand Final last year to return to the DP World Tour for the first time in six years having previously earned playing privileges through Qualifying School in 2018.
But Reitan has revealed that, during a spell off the scene, he seriously contemplating giving up the professional game and moving onto the social-media scene and making YouTube videos playing the game with his pals.
He said: 'This has been a dream of mine since I was a little kid. I keep thinking back to a few years ago when I was seriously considering giving up the game, I just wasn't enjoying it anymore. I didn't see any progress.
'Any time I would pick up the golf clubs after I took a break, it was just to have some fun with some friends, make some videos.
"I was flirting with the idea of YouTube golf for a while, just having fun with my friends and also the same goes with my swing.
'Just trying to have fun and fun means trying to hit hard swings and trying to hit different shapes, just stuff like that and take the seriousness out of it a little bit.
"That's helped me a lot. I need to remind myself of doing that sometimes.
'To be able to turn it around like I have over the last couple of years has been incredible, and to seal it with a win now, it's just unbelievable.'

Evan Ferguson sees Celtic murmur come with a unwavering transfer guarantee as agent makes a big time claim
Republic of Ireland international Ferguson reportedly has suitors all over Europe Evan Ferguson's agent insists his client is in a league of his own when it comes to analytics - amid swirls of interest from several top clubs including Celtic. The Republic of Ireland star has struggled for regular game time at Brighton in recent years and spent the second half of last season on loan at Premier League rivals' West Ham, which yielded a return of no goals in eight appearances. But after joining the Seagulls in the top-flight from Bohemians in 2021, the striker burst onto the scene less than a year later and would go onto net 10 goals in 25 matches in total during the 2022/23 campaign that earned him a staggering £100million price tag in some quarters. Ferguson's long-term future at the AMEX Stadium is uncertain, with the likes of Everton, Nottingham Forest and PSV Eindhoven all said to be keeping tabs on the situation. Celtic are in the market for a striker this summer as Brendan Rodgers looks to fill the void left by Kyogo Furuhashi's departure to Rennes back in January. Earlier this month, a potential switch to Parkhead was given a seal of approval by former Premier League and Ireland hero Shay Given, who is in no doubt that Ferguson would rediscover his goal scoring touch north of the border. Brighton's recruitment policy has won renown around the globe, with former gambling professional and current owner and chairman Tony Bloom's Jamestown Analytics company essential in both identifying potential new signings and evaluating what they already have at their disposal. And despite his lack of proficiency in and around the box in recent seasons, Ferguson's representative David Berber is adamant that interest in the player is because his attributes rise above their traditional formula. In an interview with Business Post, he said: "Evan creates his own market, and so does Andrew Moran but when we have the stats from Jamestown Analytics, the algorithm does the work." Berber's influence is beginning to increase across Europe, with another young starlet on his books Senan Mullen being crowned as Torino's young player of the year after making the move from Dundalk in 2023. Earlier this month, a potential switch to Parkhead was given a seal of approval by former Premier League and Ireland hero Shay Given, who is in no doubt that Ferguson would rediscover his goal scoring touch north of the border. Asked about the prospect of Ferguson moving to Glasgow, Given joked: 'Better not tell Adam (Idah) that! 'Evan just needs to find a home, if I'm being honest. Be it here or somewhere else. He needs someone to say, 'You're my player.' 'He went to West Ham for Graham Potter and you thought that was the perfect fit because Graham had him at Brighton. But then he didn't play so much at West Ham either. 'Michail Antonio and someone else was injured, yet they played Jarrod Bowen and Mohammed Kudus - not Ferguson. What happens next for Evan? 'I just think he needs to go, be it a loan for a season or some club buys him, and you build the team around him. I think he's a top player, I really do. 'I did some Malaysian TV recently with Bobby Zamora and he goes into Brighton once a week and coaches the strikers. Bobby said Evan was the best finisher at the club. 'Maybe because he burst onto the scene that everyone's been expecting so much so soon. But again, with young players, you need to have a bit of time. 'I just feel he's ready now to burst onto the scene for a full season with somebody. For us, with Ireland, it would be great too. "I don't know if the finances would be to buy him, but if you said for a loan for the season, it would be perfect. But I'm not the financial power at Celtic or Newcastle, so I don't know!'

Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) RANGERS hero Kevin Thomson has shared an update on his uncertain future with the club. A Gers player for three years back in the late 2000s and an ex-Scotland international, he's now into a career in coaching. He returned the the under-18s earlier this year in a shake up of the development phase at the club. But with the club going through a period of massive change, Thomson still isn't sure what the immediate future holds. Speaking on BBC Sportsound, he said: "I went back in the second week in February. We finished up the third in May. "Obviously in that time there's been a takeover, a new manager. "My contract's finished on June 30. As of yet I've not really had much dialogue with the club. "I'm just waiting to see what's what. Moving forward, if there's an opportunity there then brilliant. "If there's not, then you know what I'm like, I just bash on and keep grafting away." The San Francisco 49ers Enterprises buyout was confirmed a little under a month ago, with new gaffer Russell Martin unveiled the following week. Matt Gill came in as assistant while Issame Charai - who stuck around as coach after Philippe Clement was sacked - departed. Russell Martin's to-do list in first week as Rangers boss PLUS Lawrence Shankland and Greg Taylor latest Chief executive Patrick Stewart said: 'I want to place on record the sincere thanks of both the club and I to Issame for his work over the past six months. 'Through the managerial transition in February and beyond, he handled himself superbly and was a real asset to Barry and his staff during their period in charge of the team. 'As the men's first-team moves forth into this new era under Russell, it has been agreed between the club and Issame for him to move on. 'For whatever comes next for him, I want to wish him the very best of luck. He will always be welcome back at Ibrox.' Barry Ferguson's interim team leaned heavily on former players who knew the club - Allan McGregor, Billy Dodds and Neil McCann. With the new manager's coaching staff lacking numbers thus far and Thomson awaiting discussions, he could continue on with the youngsters or find himself in the dugout alongside Martin... or of course end up elsewhere.
