Best rhode skincare and makeup dupes you can shop in Australia

7NEWS29-05-2025

Calling all beauty lovers, some major huge news has just dropped.
It was announced earlier today that Hailey Bieber's brand, rhode skin, has been acquired by e.l.f, the global cosmetics brand known for its effective formulas and affordable price tags.
The sale has reportedly made the 28-year-old founder a billionaire, as the acquisition tipped into the 10-figure range, and this could mean great things for Aussie shoppers.
While rhode products still aren't readily shipped to Australia, the acquirement from e.l.f cosmetic s could mean that we're able to get our hands on the glow-inducing range a lot sooner than expected.
'When I launched @rhode in 2022, I always had big dreams for the company, and the most important thing to me is to keep bringing rhode to more spaces, places, and faces globally,' Bieber said of the partnership.
'I found a like-minded disruptor with a vision to be a different kind of company that believes in big ideas and innovation in the same way that I do and will help us continue to grow the brand.'
But while we continue to wait patiently for the sought-after skincare and makeup to arrive on Aussie shores, there are plenty of homegrown products that give a similar rhode result.
We've rounded up 5 of the Best Picks for recreating a rhode-worthy glow below.
1. Ole Henriksen Pout Preserve Peptide Lip Treatment, was $29 now $23.20 at Adore Beauty
Argubly rhode's most popular product (you can spot the matching phone cases almost everywhere), the peptide lip balm is loved by the masses thanks to its ability to hydrate and plump at the same time.
Luckily we've found an alternative; Ole Henrikesen's Pout Preserve Peptide Li p Treatment, which is jam-packed with peptides and kokum butter to keep lips silky soft for hours.
2. Merit Beauty Flush Balm, $48 at Merit Beauty
Every wondered how Beiber achieves her flawless complexion and perfectly flushed cheeks? Great genes yes, but her Pocket Blush plays a big part too.
Merit Beauty's Flush Balm is a cream formula that delivers a similar sun-kissed effect, simply swipe over your cheekbones and apples of the cheeks for a 'just came back from holiday' kind of look.
3. TBH Skincare rebound skin milk activated cica toner, was $29.99 now $22.46 at Adore Beauty
Now that the colder weather is well and truly upon us, upping our hydration is more important than ever. Beiber swears by the rhode Glazing Milk as 'soak for the skin' which is key to achieving a dewy, fresh face.
tbh Skincare's rebound skin milk is nourishing formula containing D-Panthenol to calm skin and is designed to be used twice a day after cleansing for a visibly smooth complexion.
4. Go-To Juicy Gel, $39 at Go-To Skincare
Love a squeaky clean feeling at the end of the day? So does Beiber. She created the Pineapple Cleanser to gently wipe away the day, removing dirt and impurities without stripping the skin.
Fear not, Go-To Juicy Gel does a similar thing with its soap-free and jelly-like formula. Containing cucumber and aloe vera, it's so gentle and soothing, great for those with sensitive skin.
5. Paula's Choice Resist Barrier Repair Advanced Moisturizer, $60 at Sephora
Everyone needs an ultra-nourishing barrier cream in their skincare lineup. If it can't be rhode's barrier restore cream (it's a crowd-favourite with over 3,000 reviews), then we suggest adding Paula's Choice Barrier Repair Advanced Moisturiser to your cart.
Designed to protect and strengthen the skin's delicate barrier, all it needs is 30 minutes to lock in all-day hydration. Simply lather onto skin day and night to reap all the benefits.
Shop e.l.f at Amazon Australia:

Hailey Bieber and Selena Gomez reignite feud rumours with shady move

Hailey Bieber and Selena Gomez were seemingly on good terms — but look at them now. Eagle-eyed social media users noticed on Thursday that the duo no longer follow each other on Instagram, reigniting longtime feud rumours. The A-listers, notably, made headlines when they followed each other in 2023, reports Page Six. Fans have speculated that either Bieber, 28, or Gomez, 32, recently blocked the other 'to look like a mutual unfollowing.' Many expressed surprise that the pair ever followed each other in the first place. Others bemoaned the 'tired' drama, with one pleading, 'Lord let us be free.' Reps for Bieber and Gomez have yet to respond to requests for comment. The model has been married to Justin Bieber, whom Gomez dated on and off from 2010 to 2018, for nearly seven years. Hailey claimed in a September 2022 Call Her Daddy interview that it was 'all love' between her and the actress. She and the Only Murders in the Building star went viral the following month for posing for smiling snaps together at the Academy Music Gala. Despite the apparent truce, rumours have continued to circulate about their alleged feud over the years. When Hailey received death threats from online haters in 2023, Gomez backed her via Instagram Stories. 'I've always advocated for kindness and really want this all to stop,' the Wizards of Waverly Place alum wrote at the time. Gomez and Bieber have since shown support for each other's social media uploads. Most recently, the former Disney Channel star 'liked' an Instagram post from Hailey's Rhode Skin account celebrating her first Vogue cover last month. When the singer got engaged to her boyfriend, Benny Blanco, in December 2024 after one year of dating, Hailey 'double tapped' the announcement. She and Justin, 31, welcomed their now-9-month-old son, Jack Blues, in August 2024. While the couple have faced rampant speculation about their marital status — fuelled by the Grammy winner's cryptic Instagram rants — Hailey insisted that they are still going strong in a May interview. 'You would think after having a child, people would maybe move on, chill out a little bit, but no,' the makeup mogul told Vogue.

What to Watch: Stranded On Honeymoon Island, Joh: Last King Of Queensland, The Bear, Ironheart & Squid Game

Let's face it, our attention spans are getting shorter and shorter, and in this stacked TV landscape, it's taking increasingly wild reality formats to gain — and hold — our interest. Enter: Stranded On Honeymoon Island! As formats go, this one's an absolute doozy. It sees 12 Aussie singles paired up after a speed-dating event and packed off to marry one another. Not long after saying 'I do' they are turfed overboard (still in their wedding attire) from a boat floating somewhere in the Pacific Ocean, and must swim to a deserted tropical island — their home for the next 21 days! Yep — they are literally 'stranded on Honeymoon Island' . . . get it? 'Laying bare their past, stripping away emotional baggage and facing their fears head-on with nothing left to lose, they're about to take the biggest leap of their lives,' says an official release. Sign us up! Every few days a mysterious crate washes ashore, containing news from home, memories and games designed to help connect the couples with each other and the others also doing the experiment on nearby islands. They gather at Couples Cove regularly to discuss how things are going, and you know the tea will be spilt. If you've read this far and aren't immediately excited for this 'Survivor meets MAFS' concept, then this show is most definitely not for you. But for the rest of us — see you on the island! This feature-length doco sees actor Richard Roxburgh bring to life one of Australia's most controversial leaders. His dramatised scenes, directed by Kriv Stenders, are woven throughout the film, which takes a look at the divisive politician's life and time in office. Roxburgh gives a stunning performance, and for anyone with even a passing interest in this controversial figure, there will be much to absorb. Bjelke-Petersen is a towering presence in Aussie political history. One for history buffs and politics junkies alike. Based on the Marvel character of the same name, this miniseries is the 14th TV iteration of a comic book character from the Cinematic Universe — keeping up? This one's all about MIT student Riri Williams, who returns to Chicago after the events chronicled in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. Dominique Thorne reprises her role from that film, and this is all about how her character gets mixed up with Parker Robbins/The Hood. If you are a Marvel fan, you'll know what that means. One for fans. The clock is ticking for Carmy and the crew to make things work at The Bear. But as we check back in with them for a fourth season, things are on a knife edge. If you've seen the trailers you'll know that Uncle Jimmy is turning the screws on them financially, and they'll need to band together to weather the storm. But is that even possible? There is a LOT of water under that particular bridge. I'm fascinated to see where they take us this season — here's hoping it isn't the show's last. To say this series has been a worldwide hit would be doing it a gross disservice — it's been nothing short of a global phenomenon. This third season is its last, and fans are eagerly awaiting the series drop (all episodes land at once), to find out how the disturbing story ends. Something tells us it's going to be nothing short of epic as Gi-hun (Player 456, played by Lee Jung-jae) and Front Man (Lee Byung-hun) square off one final time. This one's big — do not miss it.

Aussie woman's shocking find in her Chinese takeaway

An Australian woman got more than she bargained for when she found an unsual item at the bottom of her Chinese takeaway. TikTokker Shraddha, or shraddyvibes, posted a video to the social media platform detailing the story of how she ended up getting $50 back from her meal from the bizarre find. After eating a portion of the meal, the Adelaide woman kept picking away at the stir fry until she noticed something was off. 'The container was feeling a little bit weird... at the bottom of the container was a working phone,' she explained. 'I pressed on the screen and it said the screen was (too hot), it was still working.' She had come away with a meal and a new phone from the takeaway, a bizarre find to say the least. After the gross realisation, she decided to get to the bottom of it and gave the restaurant a buzz. If you'd like to view this content, please adjust your . 'Apparently the chef put the phone down in the takeaway container, and because it was black... it just blended in with the container. 'Then someone else had grabbed the container and put the hotpot on top.' The TikTokker drove back to the establishment and was greeted by apologetic staff — and a cheeky refund. Credit: TikTok / shraddyvibes 'I paid $35 for the hotpot originally and they gave me $50 back, and the chef was also like 'let me know when you're here next time and I'll give you free hotpot,' she said. Luckily she lived close by to the restaurant and didn't need to heat up the food, otherwise it could of ended in a disaster. Despite the mishap, the woman elected not to name and shame the restaurant saying, 'mistakes happen'. Viewers also found humour in the incident. 'Dinner with a side of phone ! 😂,' one person commented. 'This has to be an original experience 🤣💯,' another wrote.
