Solo Leveling season 3 could release in 2026, says producer
Winter Olympics Timeline Hinted—But Quality Still Comes First
It's not hard to see why Solo Leveling has shot up to instant one of the most popular global anime hits of the past few years and now that excitement is building towards the return of Season 3.
After the thrilling conclusion to Season 2, a new bit of news from one of the show's producers indicates that the next season might be ready to go long before most had anticipated.
What is Solo Leveling besides a great anime and manhwa
The Global Anime Hit With Epic Action and a Powerful Lead
Solo Leveling is a dark-fantasy action series adapted from a South Korean web novel. It centers on Sung Jinwoo, a bottom-tier monster hunter who one day gets the power to level up, an ability no one else in his world possesses.
With its breakneck plot, pulse-pounding action, and gorgeous visual effects, Solo Leveling has evolved into the most-watched anime globally, particularly in the United States and Great Britain, and is streaming Season 1 (2024) and Season 2 (2025) on Crunchyroll.
Season 3 might drop sooner than you think
Early 2026 Release Date Hinted by Producer Sota Furahash
While many fans were understandably worried about a wait all the way until 2028, a recent blog post from producer Sota Furahashi has provided the first glimmers of hope that we mightn't have to wait so long to return.
Commenting on how long the show takes to produce, he suggested that Season 3 might coincide with the upcoming Olympic Games, which would be Winter 2026, rather than 2028 as previously feared.
'If it were up to me, I'd say let's wait until the next Olympics to see what's going to happen with Season 3,' Furahashi said. 'But that's more up to Kaneko and A-1 Pictures.'
That heavily implies that a February 2026 release is no longer just a dream, which would continue the same release cadence established between Seasons 1 and 2.
Why fans worried about a 2028 release
When Season 2 released in early 2025, many began to guess that the following chapter would take three years or more to come out. The answer might surprise you. Solo Leveling's dark and thrilling animation. As Furahashi explained, that accounted for well over 220,000 frames within the first two seasons alone.
Keeping up with this intense level of quality is no small feat. Fans worried it was a recipe for a huge delay. Fortunately, the producer's most recent comments appear to indicate a shorter wait, although quality will continue to be the number one priority.
When will Solo Leveling season 3 officially release?
No Date Yet, But 2026 Looks Promising
As of now, there is no fixed release date announced for Solo Leveling Season 3. Everything recently is pointing to a 2026 introduction — probably in the Winter Olympics.
Whatever the case, the decision is ultimately up to A-1 Pictures and producer Kaneko, who are likely to announce more concrete details in the coming months.
Where can you watch Solo Leveling?
Seasons 1 & 2 Available on Crunchyroll
In the meantime, as they await news on Season 3, new viewers can catch up on Solo Leveling, and fans can rewatch the show exclusively on Crunchyroll, which is home to all 25 episodes of Seasons 1 and 2 in English subtitles and dubbed, too.
When Season 3 debuts, it will be simulcast exclusively on Crunchyroll for fans in the US, UK, and other select countries and regions.

Danny Boyle admits he won't make Slumdog Millionaire today due to this reason; responds to colonialism claims
English director-producer Danny Boyle would not make Slumdog Millionaire (2008) today. In an interview with The Guardian, the filmmaker admitted that it probably wouldn't even get financed and that he would look for a young Indian filmmaker to direct it instead. (Also Read: James Gunn opens up about his favourite DC project and it's not Superman) Dev Patel and Anil Kapoor in Danny Boyle's 2008 film Slumdog Millionaire. Danny reflected on his hit film Slumdog Millionaire and said, 'Yeah, we wouldn't be able to make that now. And that's how it should be. It's time to reflect on all that. We have to look at the cultural baggage we carry and the mark that we've left on the world.' When asked if the production 'amounted to a form of colonialism', Danny denied it and said, 'Well, only in the sense that everything is. At the time, it felt radical. We made the decision that only a handful of us would go to Mumbai. We'd work with a big Indian crew and try to make a film within the culture. But you're still an outsider. It's still a flawed method. That kind of cultural appropriation might be sanctioned at certain times. But at other times, it cannot be.' Danny also claimed that he was 'proud' of the film but wouldn't contemplate making it today because it 'wouldn't even get financed'. He also claimed that if he were to be involved in the project, he'd still look for a 'young Indian filmmaker' to direct it. About Slumdog Millionaire Slumdog Millionaire is a loose adaptation of Vikas Swarup's book Q&A. The film tells the story of 18-year-old Jamal Malik (Dev Patel) from the slums of Mumbai who participates in the game show Kaun Banega Crorepati, hosted by Prem Kumar (Anil Kapoor), and wins it. He is interrogated by the police (Irrfan Khan), who wonder how he got all the answers correct. Freida Pinto played Latika, the girl Jamal loves. It was nominated for 10 Academy Awards in 2009 and won 8 of them. But in India, Slumdog Millionaire received polarising reviews, with criticism for the way it portrayed the country. After the 2019 film Yesterday, Danny took a five-year hiatus and returned with the post-apocalyptic 28 Years Later, which he directed and produced. It is running in theatres.

Celine Song Redefines Romance in Materialists: 'Love Is a Miracle, Even in 2025'
Normal, everyday love. In her new film, Materialists, about living and loving in 2025 New York, writer-director Celine Song set out to investigate that. Celine Song, creator of Materialists, shares her definition of "love" Dakota Johnson plays Lucy, a successful matchmaker in New York City, in Materialists. She meets wealthy and successful Harry ( Pedro Pascal ) while searching for prospective clients at a wedding she planned. Her less-than-ideal ex-boyfriend John ( Chris Evans ), a struggling actor who earns a living by taking on odd catering jobs, is also present. Celine stated in an interview with PTI that it's "so cool to be in a movie about everyday love, kind of ordinary love with these three great actors." The film's reviews have been largely positive since its theatrical release, with many praising Celine for refusing the romantic-comedy standard in favor of examining contemporary dating and relationships from a practical standpoint. When it comes to love, Celine is a genuine romantic. 'It' really hard to believe in love, especially in 2025, right? It's very hard to believe in love over money. And it's amazing, the idea that you can get rid of all your financial troubles by just marrying right. The fantasy is so amazing,' she remarked. The filmmaker stated that, 'But I think the greater fantasy is falling in love in a way that none of that matters. I think that's a bigger happy ending because when that happens, when love happens, it's a miracle.' She claimed that this is the reason the word "deal" has such a romantic meaning in the context of the film. Celine said, "I feel in another romantic film, 'deal' is not a romantic word, but in this movie called Materialists, it is a very romantic word. And the other romantic line is 'How would you like to make a very bad financial decision?' I'm like, That's not a very romantic line in other movies, but in this one, it's a very romantic line.' Materialists comes from the director's personal space, just like Past Lives, her 2023 film about a married writer creating contact with her childhood South Korean sweetheart.
