Ford and GM are recalling hundreds of thousands of vehicles with malfunctions that can increase the risk of a crash, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
GM is recalling nearly 600,000 Cadillac, Chevrolet and GMC vehicles equipped with a 6.2L V8 gas engine, according to the recall notice. Some of the cars' engine components may have manufacturing defects that can lead to engine damage and engine failure, increasing the risk of a crash.
The recall affects Cadillac Escalade and Escalade ESV; Chevrolet Silverado 1500, Suburban and Tahoe; and GMC Sierra 1500, Yukon and Yukon XL models from 2021 to 2024, according to the recall notice. Anyone who owns one of the affected models should contact their local dealership for free repairs.
Dealers will inspect the vehicle's engine and repair or replace it as necessary, according to the recall notice. For vehicles that pass inspection, dealers will add higher viscosity oil, install a new oil fill cap, replace the oil filter and update the owner's manual.
Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed on June 9, according to the recall notice. Owners may contact Cadillac customer service at 1-800-333-4223, Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020 or GMC customer service at 1-800-462-8782 for more information. GM's number for this recall is N252494000.
Ford is recalling over 160,000 Ford and Lincoln SUVs and trucks that have malfunctioning rearview cameras, according to the recall notice. The camera's circuit board may be loose or damaged, which can result in a blank or distorted image and increase the risk of a crash.
The recall affects Ford F-250, F-350, F-450 and Expedition models from 2015, as well as Lincoln Navigator and MKC models from the same year, according to the recall notice. Those who own vehicles affected by the recall should contact their local dealer, who will replace the rearview camera for free.
Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed on May 5, according to the recall notice. Owners may contact Ford Customer Service at 1-866-436-7332 for more information. Ford's number for this recall is 25S42.

Ford isn't going to love RAM's new warranty offering

Starting with the 2026 model year, RAM is doubling down on its comeback strategy by offering something no other full-size truck brand does: a 10-year or 100,000-mile limited powertrain warranty. That's right-twice the current coverage on gas-powered RAM trucks, and a full five years longer than what Ford and GM currently offer. It's not just the half-ton RAM 1500 that's getting the extra protection. The new warranty extends to heavy-duty 2500 and 3500 models, chassis cab trucks, and even the ProMaster commercial van. Buyers of the off-road-ready Power Wagon and high-performance RHO also qualify. The only real exclusions? Fleet buyers and the all-electric ProMaster EV. That means for individual buyers, whether purchasing or leasing, this warranty could be a serious reason to reconsider a Ford F-150 or Chevy Silverado. So why the sudden move? According to RAM CEO Tim Kuniskis, the answer is simple: consumer behavior has shifted. Today's truck buyers are financing over longer terms and holding onto their vehicles longer than ever-12.6 years on average. Yet no truck brand has changed their warranty to reflect that reality. "We think this gives people a real reason to switch," Kuniskis said. And he's not wrong. Truck buyers are famously brand-loyal, with roughly 75–80% sticking with the same make when they buy again. But loyalty can shift if one brand clearly takes better care of its owners-especially in the long haul. Offering a longer warranty also sends a strong message: RAM believes in the durability of its new powertrains. That includes the returning 5.7-liter HEMI V-8, now offered once again as an option on the 2026 RAM 1500, and the twin-turbo Hurricane inline-six that debuted just last year. RAM is coming off a rocky year. The 2025 RAM 1500 launch hit production delays, early trims were priced too high, and removing the V-8 left a bad taste for longtime fans. But the brand is attempting to turn the page. Under new leadership, including Kuniskis' return from retirement, RAM has slashed prices, brought back the HEMI, and even announced a NASCAR comeback for 2026. The company has also rolled out a new marketing push with the tagline "Nothing Stops RAM". This warranty announcement isn't just a sales gimmick; it's part of a larger turnaround strategy designed to restore consumer confidence and boost conquest sales. Ford and Chevy now face a choice: match RAM's warranty or risk looking second-best in a segment where perception matters as much as specs. So far, neither has hinted at making a similar move. That leaves RAM as the sole brand offering a decade of peace of mind on core powertrain components: engine, transmission, transfer case, driveshafts, and axles. And in a world where trucks now cost as much as some luxury cars, that could be a powerful differentiator. If Ford and GM aren't worried yet, they probably should be. 2025 GMC Sierra EV Denali Gets Max Range, Tesla Supercharger Smarts: Review

EDMONTON, CANADA APRIL 13: A 2025 GMC Sierra EV Denali Max Range on display at the Edmonton Motor ... More Show on April 13, 2025, in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. (Photo by Artur Widak/NurPhoto via Getty Images) The GMC Sierra EV Denali Max Range is a new breed of GM EVs that eliminates range anxiety. The easy Tesla Supercharger access is icing on the cake. The Denali EV I tested this week showed over 500 miles of range when I did a full charge. Delete range anxiety. The icing on the cake was I did all of my charging on Tesla Superchargers with an adapter provided by GM (see video at bottom). The best analogy I can come up with is heaven and hell. Tesla superchargers are paradise compared to the hell of competing networks. A massive Tesla Supercharger location with 76 chargers. The GMC Denali EV in the distance. Welcome sight: a massive Tesla Supercharger network near Tejon Pass, California After spending the day on Mount Pinos in the Mojave Desert, we did a quick search for the nearest Tesla Superchargers since the Denali came with a NACS (Tesla) adapter. To our surprise there was a new Supercharger location near Frazier Park at the base of Mount Pinos. And it was all super-fast V4 chargers. But we decided to skip that (maybe next time) and travel on to the Tejon outlets near Grapevine (a section of interstate 5). At Tejon Outlets, we were surprised to find a massive Tesla supercharger location with 76 chargers and almost no users. It was simply a matter of plugging in, then charging commenced. During the time I was charging, there was only the Denali and two other Teslas. What a difference! After spending years using competing charging networks and experiencing untold amounts of waiting and frustration, it was cathartic. The Denali has Tesla charging integrated into the charging screen. So, the infotainment screen will populate with the Tesla Supercharger locations. Then you just select your location and the specific Tesla charger and start charging. The GMC Denali EV goes the distance In 2025, many EVs on the market max out at a little over 300 miles of range. That's fine. That works for the vast majority of EV owners. But some people need the kind of range you get on a gas car. And that's what GM is aiming for. The beauty of a 500-mile range EV is that it takes a lot of long-distance driving to run down the battery. If you're not always able to home charge and on the road often, that's a godsend. And, again, it's even better if you have access to the best charging network out there: Tesla's. In the video above I demonstrate how easy it is to now charge at Tesla Superchargers on a GM vehicle. General Motors will make it even easier later this year when it begins including native NACS charging ports on its cars. That in itself will eliminate a major obstacle to buying a non-Tesla EV. I know. Because Tesla owners are always telling me how the EV hoi polloi (non-Tesla world) are tethered to an inferior public charging network.

Teen Drivers Behind the Wheel? Here's How Parents Can Actually Get Through to Them

Handing over the car keys to a teenager can be a proud moment, but let's be honest, it's also a nerve-wracking one. If you've got a new driver at home, chances are you've spent time worrying about speeding, distracted driving, or the group of friends fighting to ride shotgun. But here's the thing: while parental lectures often go in one ear and out the other, new research suggests that conversations about safe driving do have a lasting impact when handled the right way. Ahead of summer, a season known for a spike in teen driving accidents, safety experts are urging parents to open the dialogue. A recent campaign, supported by Ford's Driving Skills for Life program and the Governors Highway Safety Association, offers five smart strategies to help parents connect with their teen drivers and, hopefully, keep them safer on the road. According to the experts, driving safety isn't a one-and-done talk; it's actually a series of ongoing conversations. Start before your teen gets their permit, and continue well into their first year of solo driving. The more normal you make it to talk about driving risks and good habits, the more likely they are to absorb it. Yes, your teen is watching when you speed through that yellow light or check your phone at a red. In fact, studies show that parents' driving behaviors have a major influence on their kids' habits behind the wheel. If you want your teen to drive safely, your own driving should match the message. Creating household rules about curfews, passenger limits, and phone use can go a long way. But be prepared to explain why these rules matter. For example, letting them know that having just one peer in the car doubles their crash risk makes the rule about no friends during the first few months feel less random and more rooted in real data. Teens are more likely to respond to real-life examples than blanket warnings. Instead of just saying 'don't text and drive,' share actual stories of local accidents or near-misses, things that hit closer to home and feel tangible. It's simple, but often overlooked: more time behind the wheel with a calm parent builds skill and confidence. Just because your teen passed their test doesn't mean they're ready for every scenario. Weather changes, highway merges, nighttime driving — these are the areas where extra supervised practice really matters. Safe teen driving isn't just about passing a test or obeying the speed limit, but actually it's about consistent communication and real-world preparation. As the summer driving season heats up, parents have an opportunity (and a responsibility) to shape the kind of driver their teen becomes. And it starts with how you talk, not just how you drive. So the next time you hand over the keys, take a breath and just start the conversation. It just might be the most important one you have all summer.
