Awqaf ministry launches initiatives to recycle ablution water in two mosques

The Ministry of Endowments (Awqaf) and Islamic Affairs, represented by the Engineering Affairs Department, launched two pilot projects to recycle ablution water in two mosques in Al Wakrah and Lusail.
This project is part of its efforts to promote environmental sustainability and rationalise water consumption.
The first project included the Qanbar Al Ansari Mosque (No. 1209) in Al Wakrah and was implemented in cooperation with the Qatar General Electricity and Water Corporation (Kahramaa) and Al Wakrah Municipality. The second project included the Al Kaldari Mosque (No. 1368) in Lusail, in cooperation with Qatari Diar Real Estate Investment Company.
The two projects aim to treat ablution water inside the two mosques and reuse it to irrigate the surrounding green spaces, in addition to using it in flushing boxes in restrooms. This will contribute to reducing freshwater consumption, limiting waste, and increasing the efficiency of water resource use.
The Engineering Affairs Department confirmed that this initiative is part of the ministry's plan to implement the water recycling experiment in a number of mosques under construction, in preparation for expanding its scope across the country. This initiative responds to the country's drive to adopt innovative environmental solutions and promote the transition to a green economy.
The department explained that these efforts align with the ministry's vision to develop mosque infrastructure to meet modern requirements. They also contribute to achieving sustainable development goals and enhancing environmental awareness, in line with the pillars of Qatar National Vision 2030, particularly with regard to environmental development and the preservation of vital resources for future generations.

GTA extends tax certificate validity to ease compliance
Tribune News Network Doha The General Tax Authority (GTA) has announced an extension of the validity period for several key tax certificates, in a move aimed at simplifying tax-related procedures and offering greater support to taxpayers. As part of its ongoing efforts to enhance the taxpayer experience, the GTA has extended the validity of the non-objection certificate (NOC) for change of ownership to 180 days, allowing taxpayers additional time to complete relevant transactions. In a significant digital services upgrade, the tax compliance certificate can now be issued through the Dhareeba tax portal, with its validity extended from one month to a full year. This certificate is a crucial document that confirms a taxpayer's compliance with all applicable tax obligations, helping facilitate smoother interactions with public and private entities and boosting investor confidence. The NOC for commercial registration cancellation and the disbursement of dues certificate have also seen an increase in their validity period to 90 days, reducing the need for reapplication and giving taxpayers more time to complete the required steps. The GTA emphasised that these updates are part of a broader commitment to service improvement and digital transformation. All updated certificates and related services are available through the Dhareeba platform, which continues to provide taxpayers with flexible, efficient tools for managing their tax affairs. These enhancements reflect the GTA's strategic objective to foster a more transparent, efficient, and investor-friendly tax environment in Qatar. By reducing administrative burdens and leveraging digital platforms, the Authority aims to further strengthen compliance and support the country's economic diversification goals in line with Qatar NationalVision 2030.

Qatar participates in 28th St Petersburg International Economic Forum
St Petersburg: The State of Qatar participated in the 28th St Petersburg International Economic Forum, which took place in Russia over four days, with the participation of several heads of government, senior officials, and experts from around the world. The State of Qatar's official delegation was led byMinister of State for Foreign Trade Affairs HE Dr Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Sayed and representatives from the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, the Qatar Investment Authority, the Investment Promotion Agency Qatar (Invest Qatar), and the Qatar Chamber of Commerce and Industry. The Qatari delegation highlighted the strength of Qatar's economy and its leading position both regionally and internationally. They also showcased the country's attractive investment environment for global businesspeople and investors, presenting key incentives, advantages, and initiatives launched to support the private sector and enhance the competitiveness and diversification of Qatar's economy in line with Qatar National Vision 2030. The Minister of State for Foreign Trade Affairsآparticipated in the forum's plenary session, attended by President of the Russian Federation HE Vladimir Putin, along with a number of prominent political and economic figures and decision-makers from around the world. Dr Al Sayed also took part in a high-level discussion session on searching for new engines of growth: redesigning the global financial and trade framework. During his remarks in the session, he highlighted the State of Qatar's role in promoting innovation and research as key pillars for sustainable economic growth. Dr Al Sayed pointed to the Qatar Research, Development and Innovation Strategy 2030, which aims to bring about a qualitative transformation by enhancing institutional infrastructure and setting national priorities in areas such as food security, health, energy, technology, and logistics. He said that Qatar is encouraging both the public and private sectors to adopt advanced technological solutions that enhance efficiency and competitiveness and support entrepreneurship, particularly in priority sectors. He also deemed the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) as a successful regional integration model, noting its achievements in unifying economic systems and policies, and in strengthening joint infrastructure and services. His Excellency added that the GCC is steadily progressing toward full economic integration, further solidifying its position as a global financial and investment hub. Dr Al Sayed also pointed out that the GDP of GCC countries has reached approximately USD 2.2 trillion, placing the bloc 9th globally. Furthermore, GCC financial markets rank 7th worldwide in terms of market capitalization, representing 4.3 percent of total global markets. In 2024, the non-oil sector contributed 75.9 percent of the region's GDP. He also highlighted Qatar's success in implementing a digital economy, driven by its advanced infrastructure and adoption of Fourth Industrial Revolution technologies, positioning the country at the forefront of the global shift toward a knowledge-based economy. On the sidelines of the forum, the Minister of State for Foreign Trade Affairsآheld separate meetings with Russian Deputy Minister of Agriculture HE Maxim Markovich and Chairman of VTB Ban Andrei Kostin.
