Now, Bollywood Hungama reports that the film's release, produced by Aamir Khan Productions, faced uncertainty when the Censor Board demanded certain edits, which Aamir Khan refused to accept. The Revising Committee instructed the filmmakers to change the phrases "Michael Jackson" to "Lovebirds" and "Business Woman" to "Business Person."
Revising Committee Reviews Film
The actor was reportedly dissatisfied with the CBFC Examining Committee's suggested edits, prompting the Revising Committee, led by theatre expert and scholar Waman Kendre, to review the film recently.
Visual Removal and Certification
The Revising Committee requested the removal of a visual featuring the word 'kamal'. Once these edits were completed, the CBFC issued a U/A 13+ certificate for 'Sitaare Zameen Par'.
Strong Advance Booking Figures
'Sitaare Zameen Par' has already earned Rs 1.55 crore from advance bookings excluding block seats all India. Trade website Sacnilk reveals that more than 39,000 tickets have been sold for the film's opening day.

The film saw an overall 22.43% occupancy in Hindi language on Saturday. It also released in Tamil and Telugu. Sitaare Zameen Par had an overall 25.20% Tamil Occupancy on Saturday and 17.42% Telugu Occupancy. The film earned ₹ 50 lakh each in Tamil and Telegu. The Aamir Khan movie was reported to release in theatres with over ₹ 6 crore business on day 1 if advance booking is considered. As per the website, the film had sold 1,15,344 tickets for 9,542 shows in all languages nationwide in advance booking. Without blocked seats, the Aamir Khan sequel was poised to make a business of ₹ 3.31 crore from advance booking ticket sales. In total, the film was said to open with ₹ 6.88 crore gross earnings, including blocked seats. Sitaare Zameen Par is following a strictly theatrical release policy which means it might not see its OTT release soon or ever. As per a report of Bollywood Hungama, the film is also experimenting with several new strategies. Going by the early reviews from the audience, the film has been dubbed as a 'well-intentioned film.' Critics reviews also hailed Aamir Khan's performance in the film. Sitaare Zameen Par is said to be the Hindi remake of the 2018 Spanish film, Campeones. Besides Aamir, it also has Genelia D'Souza. It also features 10 special actors who marked their acting debut on Friday.

Aamir Khan and Genelia D'Souza's comedy-drama Sitaare Zameen Par has earned Rs 11.7 crore at the box-office on Day 1, as per Sacnilk. The film is directed by RS Prasanna and is a remake of the 2018 Spanish film, Champions as well as a spiritual successor to Taare Zameen Par (2007). The film has earned around Rs 11.5 crore in Hindi language, 5 lakh in Tamil and 15 lakh in Telugu. It had an occupancy of 16.74 per cent in the morning which increased in the evening to 20 per cent and 32.50 per cent in night. Aamir's last film, Laal Singh Chaddha (2022) had opened at almost the same number at Rs 11.6 crore. This is marginally lower than Thugs of Hindostan (2018), which opened at a whopping Rs 52.25 crore but saw a sharp decline later.
